I do not think that NCsoft intends on holding an extensive testing period. However, I would expect (earliest) the later half of 2008 for a North American/European release. |

I guess, since Aion is currently in Closed Beta, some probably think the release will be soon after the Open Beta.
Their original goal was to release Aion by or before summer 2008. I saw a post by one of the NCSoft staff stating: "We won't be satisfied with an unfinished product at release." Depending on how near bug-free they want it to be and the outcome of the Open/Closed Betas, it could be anytime in 2008. In a recent interview it was said that they expect the Korean Aion to be out at the original date (sometime before summer in 2008), but then they said that the American version will be out later in the year. This is a bit disappointing seeing as they originally said it would be realeased at the same time in both NA and Korea. Here's the link to the QA session, the part about the release date is on the last page I believe: http://aion.gamona.de/index.php?seite=artikel&pid=30&sid=3 |

Originally posted by vaizard See, heres the thing. It's not exactly "crap". However, what the game became, was not what everyone who originally was looking forward to it was expecting. Generally when you think Garriot you think deep lore, deep gameplay, interesting social aspects. What we got was snippits of lore tacked onto some simplistic gameplay that appeals to the mass market WoW audience. The social factor wasn't even there. I don't know how it is now, but l know just before release in beta, the capture system wasn't even implemented, and last I heard it's there now, but its tacked on and one person who knows what he's doing can hold down a fort, and its more of a nuisance than a feature.
Bottom line, we expected much more from the game, and it failed to deliver on all counts. Bans a perma, but so are sigs in necro posts. EAT ME MMORPG.com! |

Yes, it was indeed very neccesary to start whining about Tabula Rasa in a thread about Aions release date... really.
Anyways, it seems Korea will see Aion sometime during late Q2, and Europe/NA in Q3-Q4. Though it will release later over here, they've always expressed that they want the time in-between the releases to be as short as possible, so let's hope for Q3. - |

I've heard somebody saying somewhere that NCSoft was planning to release the game in May 2008, dunno if it's a rumor or not, but keep your pants on until then, I'm sure a more firm date will be widely announced around that time. Cheers. |

Actually, that is definitely good to know! I like the thought of a North American/European release around or after September (no later than December). This time-frame has its advantages against major competitor releases. Additionally, it gives enough time to support a polished localization process, which is especially important for import titles. With the pre-order date confirmed in early April, I will assume that stateside beta will be in good presentation and that NCsoft sticks to their old beta/release traditions; hence, I'll be getting my pre-order for a spot in beta! Of course, I'm afraid I make bad assumptions! |

What is the planned release date in Korea/Asia? I would be a bit dissapointed to enter an an extreme disadvantage to the asian market. FFXI- Disavowed |
