Is it me, or is there NO endgame content keeping people playing this game? I seriously logged on a sunday night at 7 pm eastern, to see ONLY 5 level 50's on!! How can a guy get in a casual raid if there is only 5/16ths the ammount of people required!! We need some smart growth in the endgame SOON!! Elite poster by 82 |

Originally posted by antoniuspiusI think this is the crux of the issue with LOTRO. The game is VERY popular overseas in the foreign markets... In the US?...well, maybe that is the problem...as constant posts note population issues in NA / Canadian based servers... Anyone care to do this at primetime (say EST time) on a non-holiday weekend (Sunday like the OP did) on a US based server? also preferably Silverlode.. Think there is no harm in that...how about you do it OP.. Later |

I love how some people so want to believe LOTRO is a failure that they give credence to the OP. Here's a screenshot from Elendilmir, right now, 5:00 pm EST. http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/6610/screenshot00178gt8.jpg Note at the bottom: Search overflow limited to 100 players...

OP screen shot or everyone will consider you FOS. I don't need to post a screen of landroval because it will show exactly the same thing, a ton of lvl 50's on at primetime. |

I also think, that it is more popular in the EU. But the OPs statement seems kind of extreme.
the rift and the north down screenshots don't seem to work. here you are http://img231.imageshack.us/my.php?image=screenshot00148lw1.jpg http://img231.imageshack.us/my.php?image=screenshot00146zc1.jpg |

I have a forum stalker eh? Well that's a good thing. I am hard on mmo's because many of them like us to pay for beta, or screw their game up until it's all but abandoned and just see how long it takes for the last man to catch on, so cheers. I am a Lotro fan, in fact, I am a life-time member, but I haven't logged into silverlode for more than 10 mins in the last 2 months, because it is just dead. this is an AMERICAN server... if germans love it, then that's great, but if you are an AMERICAN and you think the SILVERLODE is a funny name and might be the server for you, think again! I think there are more people online with trial keys than actual players anymore. ESPECIALLY at low levels, since I tried to give some stuff to noobs only to be unable to trade with them since they are trials. Will they buy? who knows... but right now, my server is in a decline. I think (much like wow) that this game has just begun, but they need at least a minimal population that is satisfied with the game enough to stick around past 50 (ie. raids, pvp, social) and right now the raids are not adequate, pvp needs population, and so does social. So I hope I didn't blow a lifetime membership on a game that will only exist as a viable game for 10 months.... short life-time! Elite poster by 82 |

It is a ridiculous conclusion. I and others have given proof that there are plenty of people playing at L50. But somehow your mind will not accept that as contrary proof? Instead you choose to dwell on a possible negative. This thread says more about you than LOTRO to be frank. |

Like people have said, there are players that have anon checked. I'm one of those, being a Minstrel I get constant tells also it helps deterring Gold Sellers from farming my name and sending me tells (I don't like having the Tell Filter on, just in case I'm going to have a chat with someone I don't even have on my friends list/kin/fellowship). |

Firefoot (USA) has plenty of ppl of all levels. No matter where i go, i always run into someone i haven't met before. It doesn't feel dead to me at all. If i do a who search, yes, it usually comes up pretty empty, but that's due to most of the population are anonymous. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ If you can't beat 'em, hold 'em off 'till you come up with a better plan. |

Originally posted by openedge1 I completely agree.
Stating something like the OP on New Years Eve just isn't fair. The Lotro community probably has enough RL to not go on a raid or in the Ettens at THIS Evening of the year.
The OP just has to show us a screenie to start an actual discussion about this game losing its endgame players. Btw: this doesn't look to dead to me: http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=111533

Well I said I "hope" that the game doesn't die in 10 months. "hope" being the phrase, and I am not considering all of the anon people, and I was looking during the holidays, which can skew the numbers in either direction, good or bad. Fact of the matter is, that I am financially invested in this game, but not necessarily emotionally invested as some people are. To honestly say that on silverlode, the population seems to be in a steady decline of active high level players, is not a difficult concept to grasp, nor it it completely unexpected. My short time playing is due to several logins, followed by a player search, and a log out when the population is low. The 5 on primetime was just the most startling, but honestly player population as shown by the search mode has been in a marked and steady decline for a while now. Just in the dynamic of a game, day 1 there are no level 50's, and by day 300 there a some, and by day 500 there are more, but at some point, the numbers begin to drop off, as the new level 50's do not make up for the amount that are exhausting the end-game content. In this game, there is minimal end game content. I could have made this post about all of the short-commings of the end-game, but I kept it at a very factual based observation that I have just recently seen LOTRO at a global all time low server population of characters MY level (50). Day 1, I was level 1, and there were more level 1's than 5... get my point? The above mentioned is a no-brainer that there are more level 1's than 50's, but I got 50 in ~2 months from launch in march, so I have seen the population grow, and now decline in the end-game player base. Is the game dead? No, is this a critical time for this game? I feel it is. That is all that I am saying. I ask you to attempt to hold back your feelings for this game, and look at the trend of playerbase as if this were something other than our beloved LOTRO.... like maybe a themepark, or something. Prime time on Brandywine has so many people it can't fill out the social panel. Hahahaha, hell even non prime-time did that. Playing: Star Wars: The Old Republic Waiting For: Guild Wars 2, sort of. |
