It's all the "content" they have to add.  They should go all out and add a collection to the noob station that they have to complete before they can move in all 4 directions.  That sounds like fun.

Not.

If you remember how many people played on YOUR server the day before the CU.. picture that.

If you remember how many people played on YOUR server the day before the NGE.. picture that.

Then take a 14 day trial if you haven't reactivated (so you won't give soe cash).  Then log in and run around your old server.  Compare that picture to the two above.. and you'll know if the NGE is running or not.

Fanboi or Flameboi... we all have our opinion.

My simple idea is.. log in look around.. so how healthy everything is.  Then tell me how improved the NGE is or how much better its working than that crappy "pre-cu" and its "bleeding subscriber" issues.

The sarcasm isn't meant for the OP.  I think its pretty obvious.. when you login what is "live" and how well its doing.  Of course some people here will tell you of the tens of thousands of people logged in.. Just ask them to take you to them.

I did this over the weekend.   Out of curiousity I installed the 14 day trial and used my existing account to take a look around.  For the first time in 2 years I logged in.

My first impression wasnt very good.  I was expierencing tons of lag.  I couldnt hardly move.  I had to go into the options at the launch and turn down all the graphics to low detail everything wich helped alot.   I dont remember having to do that before when I played SWG, but I definately had to do it this time.

Now, before people start asking questions about my comp set up, Ive played EvE, CoH/CoV, Ryzom, Anarchy Online, Guild Wars, and WoW.  I can play any of those on atleast default graphics settings.

When I got that all worked out, I tried a little combat killing low level critters on Naboo.  Since my toon was lvl 80 I thought it safe to practice.  I really didnt like the FPS style so I went into the options and spent a good amount of time learning the new options and figured out how to set up my controls as close to pre-NGE as I could with Target Lock and Autofire.

Im still tinkering with the auto target/ auto fire, but so far I dont like it either.  I have to go through 4 buttons to initiate combat.  One to target the mob (tab), one to Target Lock (wichever button you assign), another to Auto Fire (wichever one you assign), and then more bottons to fire off your specials.  Entirely too Busy just to kill a mob.  Im still messing with it though.

As far as the population goes, I have toons on Valcyn and Eclipse and both of those had pretty low populations.  On Eclipse I would see 2 or 3 people in the major cities and starports quite regularly with the highest concentration of people I seen in the Mos Eisly Canting numbering about 10.  Nothing like Pre-CU or Pre-NGE, but atleast there were a few people around.  On Valcyn though, I didnt hardly see anyone at all.   Valcyn was totally dead.  Mos Eisly cantina was empty, with one or two people around the city.  I went on a quest to find other people on Valcyn and was totally alone almost the entire time in most every city or planet.  I searched Valcyn most of Saturday Evening during prime time. The most people I seen on Valcyn in one place was at Restuss where there was a group of about 5 or 6 Imps hanging out dueling each other.

I could go on, but in short, so far I am not impressed with the NGE.  Its better than it was at its launch, but its still in bad shape.  Not a game I would pay for.  Maybe after they developed it for another year or two (if they havnt revamped the game again), but not now.

There are literally MILLIONS of players on your server.  They just aren't wherever you are.  Wherever that is.  Or logged in whenever you are logged in.  Whenever that is.  Or they all respeced to spy.  Or they are all in the instances.

Yeah, that's the ticket.

Yep, that's like saying that you are twice as close to Los Angeles from New York than you were earlier because you literally took two steps west.

Im not sure about the NGE anymore, seems like when it hit, the devs talent and ability to control the game disappeared.
Scrapping NGE wont help much since rolling back would create alot of problems with the newly released chapters. All in all Smed seems to have hired a bunch of fresh college grads without experience, controlling a game that has been up for 4 or 5 Years now. They just dont mix.

They seem to be doing OK, they're like the 6th dev team to come into SWG in the past 2.5 years. There is one disturbing thing, every single day or patch there is a major problem with the game or service, either major bug or issues, the character transfer service recently underwent another maintenance after people having their transferred characters completely disappear. They can't get something that costs $50 frigging dollars to work right (and also can't garauntee item transfers, and won't help if it happens).

After reading the recent WoW patches, all I can say is that game is getting better while SWG isn't.

What was wrong with Chapter 6 & 7?

Least SWG's patches doesn't delete important Windows files ;)

You want the whole list or just the top 10?  And I'm back in the game until, and just until, something else comes out thats worth  anything.

C6 =  (1) The Chapter 6 Combat Downgrade causeing ANOTHER mass exodus and leaving servers, dead, dieing, and devestated in population. (2) What little there was left, that didn't take the cancel button, flocked to the 'paid" transfer system, giving SOE 50.00 per toon, to try and get to a server where they will see anyone. (3) No NEW PLAYERS!  Don't even think about joining SWG as a new player at cl 1.  (4) EVERYTHING is almost group now, unless you have all the uber junk, your 90, (5) have hit the credit sellers for that 150 million you need to get that suit of 3 stat 35s,  (6) and you already know how to play your profession.

(7) GCW (SWG version of PVP) has fell by THOUSANDS, and that's the numbers that SOE does put out for the public.  Less than 10,000 officers in the GCW now on ALL 26 servers, INCLUDING ALTS.  And these ARE the uber-l33t buffs you pretty much NEED in PVE combat now.  And SWG devs have said that GCW IS the end-game.

C7 = actually some of it is decent. (8)  Although the buggs created by the new content are 1st and foremost the thing that will make or break it for any player.  (9) Another NEW bug in Axkva Min last night.  (10)Collections?  Try the most mind numbing grind in the history of SWG, rivaling even the old jedi grind.  Kill cl 30s until your blue looking for that last piece of junk to drop to finish that collection to get "A Player Title and a Small Amount OF XP".  Makes me want to go kill kreetles.
