Originally posted by Corodyl I agree, but I still try to explain to people, even if they are blatant trolls or completely ignorant, as I think it reflects well on our community. There are other games on this forum that once they get any trolls, there will be 10-15 people who jump on them right away without answering the question or trying to explain why that person is an idiot so they can try better next time ^^. |

I just try to find the people who seem genuinely interested in the game (you can spot them) and want to learn more about WAR. People who give responses like Freys I don't mess with because it's obvious in they have closed the door on the issue. They are too certain in their delusions. Smart people will know not to listen to those trolls... and that's who I want playing WAR with me ultimately. |

And now if you think WAR = WoW clone, you are completely ignorant or you're a WoW noob. Been playing MMOs since UO, I say WAR has the content of WoW, plays like WoW, feels like WoW. BUT they are going in the right direction with the new patch coming out. Seems like they are steering towards a more DAoC form (thank god).
The people who say, "You're ignorant for thinking WAR = WoW" , are just as ignorant as the people who troll the forums saying that. Unless you have played the game, you really don't have a lot of room to be calling people stupid for having an opinion on the game, because guess what your side is? An opinion.
Sigh, www.mmorpg.com forum community =) |

Originally posted by xray00 I agree completely. Small changes and innovations over time add up and lead to the "next generation" of games that (we hope) learn from the best and worst of what came before. Also remember that MMOs are a business - they want your money. Therefore, they will provide features that the majority enjoy and support in other games, in order to draw you in (and try to retain you) as a player. |

Originally posted by WesKhan1 But some of us have played the game, and played it a lot and it is blatantly obvious to us when people are trolling. I think you are just a frustrated AoC fanboy, because they didn't allow you to get into the beta, hence the reason you are trying to purchase an invite to the game on various sites. I mean to search you name up on this site to see what some of your past post history has been like but it kept popping up with threads of you trying to buy some invites with real money. Obviously your opinion has been tainted and that just makes it that more obvious. Just because you want to play one game before it launches does not mean you have to bash another game coming out near the same time.
EDIT: Wanted to add what the point of me pointing out you trying multiple threads on different sites to buy your way into AoC beta. If you are willing to pay real cash to get into a beta of a game that is considered by many the rival of WAR, than your opinion has been more than likely swayed, hence the reason you just bash one and support the other. |

Originally posted by spaz1337So much hate. They are just games people. Chill the Hell out. Let people make ridiculous claims, then -- when the game is released -- debate to high heavens about which is better, who copied who and all that jazz. As it's been stated, WoW did many things right and that is what made it popular. WAR is obviously going to be influenced by not just WoW, but every MMO with excellent design features. It's likely those features will be altered and improved upon, and isn't that what we're all hoping for. Of course we want innovation -- but you can't fault Mythic for -potentially- incorporating past successes; we should expect it to some degree. No game is a clone strictly speaking, and I don't expect WAR to be either. Geeze.

Am I correct in believing that the title of the thread is a 300 comparison? Seriously though, isn't Warhammer Online actually being developed by Blizzard, and that Mythic is just a front? I heard they took the exact same engine WoW uses and remodeled it from textures stolen from EQ2 and Vanguard? I hear that they took the exact same music tracks in WoW and just spun them in reverse for Warhammer? I think I heard that they talk about the devil. I heard that the Dwarves in the openining cinematic from WoW and from WAR are actually the same Dwarf? They must have had to pay him alot, he's famous! My friend, who works at EA Activison Blizzard Mythic (the actually company name now after the merger and the fact Mythic is a dummy corp) that Blizzards new secret MMO project is actually Warhammer Online? My sister's boyfriend's cousin's guild mate said that Darkfall is really just a covert name used around the EA Activision Blizzard Mythic office to describe what happens when a high level Destruction player crosses into a low Tier PvP area and becomes a chicken? *snicker* "You'll find a great many of the truths we cling to depend greatly upon our point of view." |

I used to play Chaos in the tabletop game. Loved the storyline. This game has alot of possibilities to be great. Let's hope it's done right. All you people who says this is a Wow clone need to realize, Warhammer has been out longer then Warcraft. You guys in beta are lucky. Pull some strings and get me a invite! I signed up a long time ago under this same name. |

I won't disagree of the similarity between WoW and WAR in terms of MMO game design. However, it's rather hard not to in the graphics department since WoW is based on the WAR franchise. I'll give credit to WoW for its easy to use and understand UI, but even an easy UI won't make up for what WoW lacks. That being a true PvP centric world where killing the enemy actually accounts for something, like world changing effects. The closest thing they have is zone wide affects, but all that does is give people of certains levels the incentive to PvP in those areas. WAR is setup where every tier of PvE and PvP adds up to how well a certain faction is doing in the ongoing war. The purpose of WAR is for the ultimate victory for a faction to sack it's opposing factions capital. What I don't understand is, WoW has this very concept within it's game world but it's been restricted to Battlegrounds which have no affect on the game world itself. DAoC is a masterpiece in terms of creating and ongoing, FUN PvP environment and they are creating a very similar design within WAR. WoW is an awesome game, but it failed to capitalize on the PvP aspect which could have been so easy considering the long history between the 2 factions, Alliance and Horde. Blizzard isn't going to care because they make more money then some small countries. Hence the reason it took 2 years before they got out their first expansion which didn't exactly improve any gameplay elements. Just don't be suprised when WAR breaks 1 million subscribers and if all goes well, goes on to achieve WoW status of several million. |

Sadly WoW is the big dog right now, so everything is going to be compared to it. And the fanboi 12 year old are going to claim everything is a clone of WoW. Get used to it, it's going to go on for at least another year. |

I havent played WAR yet, but from the videos and screenshots ive seen, i would have to say that the characters and art style is similar to WoW, although i think WAR will be a superior game |
