Wotlk is just another marketing ploy to get people to keep playing temporarily and to bring back players who quit again for the 2nd time after they lvld there charachters to 70.
So you get gear from raiding....so that you can get more gear in higher instances ...FOR MORE raiding, and the cycle continues on and on. You cant even pwn people with your leet raiding gear anymore. Not that you gear bloobs knew how to pvp anyway. |

Originally posted by Arowin The problem with asking a question like that is that you asume that WOW is the best MMO out there , and that is at least doubtsome! I don't think so. But i do think that WOW is absolute best at what it does. And as WOW is the most popular mmo game , it sets a standard for other games to measure against ! Lets instead ask: Could WAR be more Popular than WOW? Its unlikly but posible. Its possible because that the innovations that WAR brings (RvR , public quests and tome of knowledge) could be what the MMo's scene needs and is ready for. Simply put the next step where faktions really fight each other. Its possible that the WOW experience is just used up, been there done that for a lot of players The Warhammer IP is strong and very detailed and provide a strong base for a immersive game, and have a huge fanbase! Its possible because right now WAR is the most anticipated MMo game in development, and newer have there been released that much information about a game in making, so its advertised very well. And though delayed, its done to actual give it ekstra content, and they have the money support to do it! And it's possible because WAR do not make a game to different from the standards that have derrived from WOW's succes. Its unlikly because WOW did come as the major break through for the MMO's scene, and for most people it was there first MMo. It's another market today. People exspect more and more and with good reason and they want different things today! WoW provides a very good and addictive play experience that alot of players don't want to leave and blizzard is going to fuel them with content to keep them! As well as adding new stuff, expect blizzard to improve PvP to meet the marktet challange! Also don't underestimate the gear grinding, if WAR doesn't do it as addictive it would not attrack alot of WOW players! But it ofcause comes down to what would all the kids do , not only the WOW kids , but all the kids , will they be dragged in to a must try experience , they have to stay with , or do they just don't go there at all! That we just don't know yet But without them I expect WAR to be a strong number 2 in the MMO gaming field next year! Simply because alot of hardcore MMo players, together with the huge WARHAMMER fanbase would try it out and find it fun! And that might actual be the best situation! |

Originally posted by Pheace He's not saying resilience killed WoW in terms of the definition of resilience. Resilience is a stat that was added.. to give players more stats to try and get so they think they are cool. It is redundant. Now it makes some people harder than ever to kill. |

haha, god I thought the first reply was bad ^^ Resilience was put in to make a clear divide between Raiding gear and PvP gear. It worked, now Raiding gear is only decent for PvP, if you want good PvP gear you have to earn it through PvP since only that gear *has* resilience + a focus on stamina instead of mana conservation.
It's amazing how people can whine for raiding and PvP to finally be split and when it finally happens and works people ignore that fact entirely and complain about something new ^^

Your talking about resilience like I dont understand how the mechanic works.
WoW is the McDonalds of MMO's. Its not the best, but everyones eaten there. |

no i do not think WoW is the best mmo out there personally i hate WoW but thats just my opion. i was just wonderin if ne thought this game could have the top in terms of ppl playin it but 2 me it doesnt really matter how many ppl play it just as long as it is enjoyable 2 me. personally i cant wait till this game comes out because it looks like it could hold my attention for a really long time(unlike other mmos *cough* WoW). i have played DAoC and love the RvR so i cant wait for that part of the game and i like how they will try nd make it so you can do both PvE nd PvP/RvR instead of PvE until u get high enough for PvP/RvR. but ne ways thanks for the helpful posts. |

It doesnt matter if WAR is #1 in subscriptions. It matters if WAR is a fun game. If so, then people will play it. Mythic doesnt need 10 million subs, but IM sure it will easily get 1 million which is more than enough to support the game. Torrential |

Could WAR be #1? Honestly, I don't think so -- but I do think it could easily be #2 in North American and European subscription numbers. But here's a good thought.... Many, many people's first MMORPG was WoW. That's ... kinda sad actually. Now, if new people are drawn into the MMORPG market and WAR becomes their first game, I would envy those new people because I think they will have a better, more exciting and fun time starting their MMORPG experience with a game like WAR. Time will tell, but I really feel that Mythic's Realm vs. Realm system is waaaaay the frak more fun than that WoW PvP mess. Again, time will tell, and I do hope that by 2nd Quarter '08 they mean EARLY in the quarter. Like around April or May.

Warhammer Online will probably be a famous game and will prolly have many subscribers although I don't think any game will "kill" WoW, first of all WoW is releasing a new expansion which lots of people will put their eyes on espicially me :p. Although I think WAR is a better game there is always something you do and what you do you always do it for your realm which really makes me horny in this game. Just wish I'll get into the Closed Beta.
So here's mine WAR as #1? No, but it'll prolly make a damn good game better than WoW imo :)

WoW will die when the next big main stream fad hits the market. Who knows, maybe pogs will make a come back? |

Originally posted by CreamSoda We had people saying Vanguard would kill it, then we had people saying LotRO would kill it, and now WAR and AoC, it isn't going to put up those numbers. I do think it can take a nice chunk out of the market from WoW, but I would not expect to realistically see 9mil + subscribers. I would be perfectly fine with 500k which I think they will get rather easily, and I can see them getting as high as 2 or 3 million, but 9 million + is truly pushing it. |

Originally posted by whitedelight I think WAR will get 500k easily, because there are already 500k people who wants to do the beta! And it's 5-6 months before they launch the game. I think they get a lot players from the start, but 9mil is really high yes. I see also people from WoW move over to WAR, because they are tired of playing WoW for 3 years. |

In order to become #1 WAR would need to introduce a lot of new players or steal a lot of players from WoW. Alternative 1: is pretty much impossible, and alternative 2: means that you have to steal the bad community from WoW. I would prefer that the game doesn't become extremely popular, it's better with a medium big nice community rather than a large crappy community. |

No, because even if WOW subs in EU/US dropped to zero, Blizzard would still report 4 million Asian* subs in their totals. Who the hell are you, and why should I care? |
