Do not buy this game its a joke. I convinced 6 of my real life friends to buy it at launch day. After 4 weeks, we managed to make level 40 and we decied to stop subscriptions altogether. It has no content beyond level 30+ You have been warned. All you do is click click click and more click until the mobs dead. You CALL THIS gameplay??? |

Could have been a good game. But switching development after 2/3 along really hurt the completion state of the final product. Released with to little of everything. With only a single thing to do in the game: kill the one mob type available. Constantly. Without letup. Planetside was a way better implementation of this basic Sci-Fi game. I mean, how do you justify releasing this sort of game with no ground vehicles, no air vehicles, no real battlemechs, no PvP (Hell, let the players play the Bane!) ? Oh well, I guess having the 'British' name was supposed to be good enough.

Originally posted by Vanguarde MMORPGs with gameplay described as "click, click, click and more click until the mobs dead" WoW - check EQ/EQ2 - check CoH - check EVE-O - check SWG - check Vanguard - check LOTRO - check FFXI - check Second Life - nope Guild Wars - check UO- check TR - check Okay, so we have now narrowed down the games you CAN enjoy without clicking mobs dead.....enjoy Second Life! Ohh and no content past 30? I'm 32 atm and have been doing content for the last 32 lvls. If there is no content past 32, please, tell me what the quests are in my quest log or how you managed to grind the last 20 lvls...off of mobs in CPs? There were no quests in the zones past Pools? Oh, that's right....there just isn't as much...which they already said was being worked on. It's a shame you got so far ahead of the curve that you got ahead of the content additions. I guess working on the other classes till they catch up to you is out of the question since.....well you seem to hate about anything but Second Life anyway because of the whole clicking to kill process. |

Hey at least you guys bought the box. I haven't bought it yet, but look, I bought vanguard at launch, and now I'm actually getting some use outta that one. Just hang on to TR and don't uninstall it, eventually you might find your way back on a rainy day :). |

THERE IS NOTHING MORE TO THE GAME BUT CLICKCLICKCLICK KILLKILLKILL
Do you understand now? There is nothing MORE to do. All the games you listed have ALTERNATIVE means of enjoyment to do. Also a few have meaningful combat where you need to make choices. VG and EQ2 are perfect examples of that. FFXI has skill chains, etc. Combat is MORE indepth in them then TR -EVER- will be. It's a wannabe shoot 'em up FPS, but without the FPS elements. It's all turn based clever design garbage.

All of which is based on Click, click, click, click, click, kill mob. In TR, you have to find cover, get a good angle, consider range, be aware of mobs around you, try not to agro more than you can handle, move if out in the open to drop accuracy of hostiles. In many of the other games, you just stand there and keep on clicking...sure you may click 4 buttons in a row to hit off a special or deal with cooldowns, but to assert that TR is nothing more thna just clicking while saying the rest are not is simply incorrect. |

Originally posted by kjfett Are you freaken kidding me? You don't need cover. You don't need to worry about aggro either. Crouch. Shoot. Win.
Aggro management, proper pulling, awareness of your surroundings, and even proper combat sequence is far more important in other MMOs then TR is very obvious. { Mod Edit } Crafting in EQ2 and VG require no killing what so ever. Yes it requires clicks obviously, but you never even have to leave the crafting area. Same for VG diplomacy.. just a few examples for you.. TR is NOTHING but killing. Even crafting requires massive amounts of killing. What a snore fest.. like I said there is NO ALTERNATIVE TO KILLING. That's all there is to the shallow game. It's back to basics. Umm... Ive got bad news for you (the guy going off the deep end): All video games are click click click click and nothing else. Until they create the technology to have games that read your thoughts or eye movements or something like that, then thats all youre going to have.

Originally posted by Vanguarde Lets just say... You and your buddies managed to stick around to level 40. Apparently you folks did like the game, you cant deny that then. And to say this game is a joke, your gotta be serious. Who in their right mind plays a game they dont like. Getting to 40 is some serious hours behind the computer on this game. Examination.. Hmm Nov 2 the game was released 4 weeks to level to 40, I can see that, but all 6 of you hitting 40 at the same time. I dont believe that. Maybe 2 or 3 of you did? Six is a pretty big number and for allof you to hit 40 at the same time and bail at 40. I smell BS. |

I knew by 24 that I hated the game... the only reason I stuck around that long was that I was giving it an honest try out. Maybe... maybe someday if Garriot gets his head out of the sand and allows fixes for shoddy mechanics, it will be a good game... >.> |

Let me preface this by saying I played the game only for a day and it didn't hook me so I know nothing about it's content or game play... However, for those people who say "you must have liked the game, you played til level 40". What is the level cap? 50? How long has the game been out? A month, if that? So yeah... Obviously the game is lacking something. So here's what it boils down to. If I've got an MMO that I've played for less than a month and I'm almost level capped, I think it's fair to say that I didn't like it and that the game is lacking. Just because you can cap the game in a month doesn't mean you like it; it means that you tried it and found that there is a lot missing. I've played MMO's for years and capped some characters and not others but the the game was fun and had content to keep me interested for well over a month, years for some games. So quit your sniveling about having to like a game because you capped the level, that's a weak argument and a flawed one for this game that's been out for ONLY a month. I considered paying for my TR account (as opposed to playing the pre-release that didn't hook me) but now, I won't. In fact... I'm gonna build my own Sci-Fi MMO... Who's with me? -- When I die, I want to go peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather; not screaming and yelling like the passengers in his car. |

sounds like all that hardcore gaming for hours on end to get him and his buddies to level 40 fried the logic sensors in their brains. basically when you say you played a game like crazy and reached its max is saying you enjoyed the hell out of the game. I think we can just leave it at that. however, I agree on the endgame and anything to do other than kill mobs. The crafting is the worst ive seen in any MMO. Even hellgate has better crafting then TR (if you want to call it that). Its one of the reasons I only play TR for about 10 hours tops a week |
