Although it may seem like high res cinematics would be the best way to bring attention and be great trailer material, it really does little for the game in my opinion. In fact, I've rarely seen cinematics that actually help keep a mood in gameplay, they're usually played before and after campaigns as teasers and rewards for a job well done.

I know its a ingame trailer, but I like full motion cintematics. One of the things I like about firing up a new game for the first time, is watching the intro cinematics. Hellgate's intro movie completely blew me away, I was astonished. I absolutely love it.

Of all the up coming mmorpg's, Conan deserves the crown. Hands down. Flat out brutally murders the competition. Cheers for king Conan. If the BioWare mmorpg fails me, I'll be in Hyboria for sure. |

Bioware's MMOG probly won't hit for another 2 years as they haven't even announced it, and Bioware is one of those companies where they take 4-6 years to make each game, but the end result is fantastic. Though frankly that '12 things in a post-wow world' speach that one of the MMOG designers did during the summer conventions did not give me all that much hope. :/ |

Finally got to see the new video, and WOW. That was probably the best gameplay video that i have seen ever. Sadly i made a promise to myself that i would never upgrade a computer again just to play a video game. Looks like i am breaking another promise to myself. |

Very good video. Some of those finishing moves were badass. The only thing I hope is that the killing moves are a) not extremely repetitive and b) they didn't spend all their time on the killing moves so that the rest of combat is lacking. Barring those two possibilities, the combat in the game is going to be a hell of a lot of fun. Very good scenes put together for the video. I just wish the battle scenes would have been longer than just a few frames each. It's hard to tell if the combat is exciting for moments or for the duration of the fight when they edit a video like this. Here's hoping. --------------------------------------------- |

I wouldn't worry about that. Despite the movie showing fatality after fatality (thats the official term for the 'killing moves') from what I've gathered, they only 'fire' if you kill a mob using a combo that has a fatality associated with it, and even then it's only like a 5% chance to go off. This makes it a fairly rare event. It's not something that happens in every fight, but more like one in every 50. The devs are able to boost the chance really high, and have done so for some previous videos (and probably this one, to get some nice footage.) But yea, Fatalities will be rare and they differ based on combo and weapon used. :) So I'd imagine they get cooler as you get higher level and get better combos and weapons lol. |

There are a few live video interviews with funcom. Specially the one from a swedish gamesite. He states not only is it a combo based to get a fatality but its not something that will happen all the time as has been previously mentioned. Thou i worry that once the combos are posted on some website thats all thier will be. He also said that since there are many locations to be ''aimed'' at while attacking that you can do a variety of moves not just the same one button does one type of attack. Believe also this is different for each type of career. Also that each type of weapon has a different type of fatality. Blunt weapons ''bashing in skulls'', two weapons working together, daggers sticking in vital organs, single sword chopping off heads, arms, legs, sticking into thier heart then being pulled out. Etc.

I really enjoy fatality moves in Mortal Combat but in the end its just simple eye candy, nothing more.

Originally posted by Battlekruse Nice screenshot hehe. As to what to do if your fighting 2-3 mobs. It appears most fatalities are pretty quick. But it's hard to say for sure until the game comes out. Note that when you get a fatality you get a Blood Rage (think thats the name) buff temporarily. Gives you greater damage and I think you shrug off damage easier. This could be a way to offset the extra animation time of the fatality itself. Oh and as to the last question. The answer is;
A RESOUNDING YES! |

Finally a Conan video that makes me excited about the game. Maybe I ought to get a beta account now. :) |

Watched the trailer over and over. Keep it coming Funcom :-) Looks like this title may finally bring something new into the MMORGs. Also can't wait to hear more about The Secret World, although that one is probably years away... |
