Go to one of those battle reinactment events that go on around the world. Challenge some guy in plate with a 2h weapon. You wear leather or less and take a short sword... if you have some exp(2+yrs) of martial art training - you will kick their plated butt around the field. I was worried if aikido would work first time around but jeeez like taking candy from a baby.

 

In fact I heartly recommend not using aikido on a plate wearer.... especially if they're supposed to be Richard III at Agincourt. Well leave it to after the event. Kings with dislocated shoulder and fractured ribs arent't really that imposeing. The fact that the moves used can be quite 'safe' in a dojo but caused the damage suggests that maybe the plate actually made it worse.

no it doesnt even out. Knights wouldnt have spent thousands of dollars on armor if it didn't really matter

 

 

 

Armor was just a trend in those days ... fashion, but not practical  ... Knights are sissies ... a real man fights naked

Maybe because, unlike knights, current soldiers have access to ballistic fibers, such as Kevlar? Which also has it's own drawbacks, as a "bulletproof" soldier goes down easy with a knife or sword.

Knight armor was effective on horsebacks versus other warriors at some point. The historical context matters here. With other weapons and fighting styles and other social developments this became obsolete. Naked vs Armored is therefore a wrong approach, moreso that it has little to do with games or Spellborn especially.

Most people as in less than 20% of any given game's population base.  It's niche, just like raiding.  Both have been over represented in every game till now.  I'm glad to see them finally make a game that caters to adventureres without making them slaves to crafters, now if we could just get them to move away from raiding, it would be perfect.

With PvE raiding, it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fawning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression, anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privilege. - Neanderthal

The only thing stupid is your over reaction.  I in no way implied or stated that those play styles should be removed, only that I'm glad that they finally are taking away the focus on those and putting them into adventuring which has really taken a back seat to raiding and crafting the last few years.  Since you resorted to sarcasm, I can only infer you have limited or no reading comprehension.

Overreacted? nah, I knew my response was half-witted, as I already stated it was intentional...

Im wondering which MMO you are referring to, that has in the recent years put adventuring/questing in the backseat compared to crafting? Because that is an MMO i havent played and would certainly like to try. In the recent mmo years, I have experienced the quite opposite, crafting dulled down and heavy focus on questing/adventuring. I have to admit that questing from 1-50 has become very tedious, having a good crafting system present helps alot.

Give us freedom to do whatever we want! craft, monster grind, quest, roleplay, pvp and yes... even raid. Using your <backseat> metaphor - Spellborn has put crafting in the trunk, becuase there will be no crafters in spellborn, a few repairers but thats it.

 

Also... You as a native english speaker should be wary about throwing <limited or no reading comprehension> statments around in an international forum, sarcasm used or not.

Im looking forward to this game and I also like crafting in a game. But I also only like to craft in sandbox MMO's.

Just check the implementation of crafting in LOTRO or WoW. Its just a shallow time/moneysink with a lot of disappointed players complaining about lack of balance between loot and crafted.

So I think you should either do it very good (Vanguard, SWG) where almost everything can be crafted, or you simply dont implement it to prevent having some halfbaked feature.
