Ultimately, as long as Activision keeps their hands off Starcraft 2, I could care less what sort of politics they all play at.  I keep forgetting about Vivendi's other holdings.  I've made that mistake before, I should probably remember it this time.

There's only one downside to this, and that's the "Activision Blizzard" name, everything else is just shiny!

I guess we will find out pretty soon.

Agreed..... Activision + Blizzard = Actard.....

Actard is not shiny, it's dirty and foul! 

look other then all the negatives i think the positives are higher..

for one the more income into one company, the more money will be spent on games, blizzard is and has always been about profits but they have always delivered good games, as long as they deliver good games i have no problem with it

Are some of you insane?  Since when has Blizzard said "Well if only we had more money... We would so be making bigger better games.."  Blizzard has all the money in the world and doesn't need a dime from Activision. 

So now we are left with IF WE ARE LUCKY, the same to companies with a Crappy name, Or if worse comes into play, One company.

And No Activision is NOT As big and important to the Console world as Blizzard is to the PC.  Activision has a bunch of ok games, and some crappy games.  The last one I really liked from Activision was Tony Hawks 2.  All the report has said is that Blizzards current operations over World of Warcraft will not change, not that they will remain that way forever.  Its a marketing ploy so they can put the blizzard names on more Console games, Everyone unless your stupid knows the Blizzard name sells.

Now on the up side! IF we are EXTREMELY lucky, Activision will become a better company because of this, I'm not betting my money on it but hey... if it does, I'll be the first to admit I was wrong.

I was worried about the future of Blizzard before the merger.  Blizzard has lost a lot of talent over the years.  I wonder if any people who worked on pre-WoW games are actually still there.

But I’m hopeful for any company that hasn’t been bought out by EA yet.

guess the gaming industry is becoming more and more pacmanian by the day... and a large mmo battle between EA-bioware (lucasarts IP) and Vivendi-Acttvision-Blizzard (wow, SC) is about to ensue..

Certainly the average gamer won't be the winner of all this. It means less mmos overall, thus less inventions and it also means more cookiecutter wowification of the mmo world...

On the other hand mmo projects are so expensive that in the future if many more fail like GoH then investors will lose faith.. so large companies can afford more... Blizz certainly have the dough to make a few more..

One thing that I find to be very very wrong and that is the fact Blizzard still charges for expansions when they rake in the cash they do... that is just... YUCK
