This is not some flame fest thread, i am just curious. If (and it is a big if) WAR is delayed as far back as September 2008, it could possibly be going head to head with the next WoW expansion (again, IF they make it on time too), do you see this having an effect on the uptake of the game?

Just my opinion, I think that the people that wants to play WAR will play WAR, the people waiting for the lich king expansion will wait. But I dont see some type of competition between the two just because of the moved release date of WAR. As there is always competition between mmorpgs, Just depends which comes out first, some people like myself will probablly buy the lich king expansion, just to be curious. But will buy WAR as soon as its released. |

I don't think WAR will come close to the number of subscribers WOW has and i don't expect too many WOW players to quit and move over to WAR. this game will probably top out at 200-300k max and i think that's mainly due to Mythic and i think they'll create quite a niche and judging from the combat videos so far, it just doesn't look like too much fun. Theres a possibility of WAR disappointing and i don't think it will, just wont be as successful as people hope. The only game that will get more subs than WOW is a Starcraft mmorpg, the koreans would eat that up. |

Whatever the reason, whatever the cause. I don't want to discuss WAR with anything even remotely close to WoW no more. |

May your adventures be exciting, your loot be epic, and all your hits be crits! |
The answer is yes only because there are so many things that affect MMORPGs. Obviously there are a ton of frustrated WoW players who are looking to play something new, but if they launch at the same time some of them will go to WAR and some will stick with WoW to try the new content first. It will affect sales for the first month or so but after that the people who want to play WoW, will. The people who want to play WAR, will. And lastly, the people who want to play both or neither, will do what they want.
You are talking the last month of Q3 though and I can not see that happening. I also can not believe that WoW is going to charge people another 30 bucks to play their new stuff just 8 months after they released their first expansion. |
