For the life of me I don't understand why people would come on a forum simply to trash a game or the players who play it. My guess is that they want to see the game fail. I know if I didn't like a game I might make one post on what I thought of it and move on. Truthfully there aren't many games I've played that I didn't like the game to some degree. And I definitely didn't degrade those who do enjoy a game. To each his own. |

Go make a game or develop a system of that scale, launch it and make sure its perfect and smooth. Prove that you can do it, till then, you are just an irresponsible critic by the name of Mr Nobody. We have problems launching the apollo to the moon, we have shuttle launch delays (almost always) and shuttle explosions. The first field test of every model of missiles ended up in dismay. The first wave of test for jet fighters during the second world war killed almost all the best pilots willing to test the new concept. Hmm, actually when you first learn to use a fork, you stick it at your mom. What is the big deal here? Things were not perfect, nor were you. You talk like you are god, and totally intolerant of mistakes. You talk like you are contributing to upgrading the service standards of the business by putting up an air of arrogance and intolerance. Your are pretending your know the business and stand heads above the pros in flagship. If you think you can improve the standard of the gaming industry, go get your hands dirty and fix the problem. Oh of course, I just realise you are not employed by flagship or any of the major game publishers. So you have to talk your heads off here. Next time you read about Michael Jordan missing a 3 point throw (of course he is retired), start a web posting saying "its you retarded fans, paying $500 per ticket to watch them miss an easy throw. Jordan is ripping you off, ... ". |

I don't hate the company or anything, but I strongly, strongly advise people to NOT use the ea digital download, it is utter shite!! I should have waited until I could go to the store to buy a copy, I'd be playing already instead of screwing around with tech support that is ill equipped to actually help anyone. Most likely I'll be demanding my money back from them so I can go buy the damn disks. Not to mention they double billed me. D.

Update to my situation... They don't know why their stuff doesn't work. I cancelled and made them give my money back (which they did, thank god. Their disclaimer says they don't do refunds for online purchases.) I guess I'll have to wait a couple days and go buy it in the store. D.

Funny thing is, its not even an MMO.. There is no HUGE server load to worry about. There are maybe max 100 people who can login to any one server. These same servers runs tons of battlenet type games. And this is just one of them. To be caught so ineptly with there pants down is another example of how unfinished this game is, and why they cover over the unfinished aspects with promises for Subscriber content over time. Its a freebie excuse to develope things for a complete game slowly after already getting paid up front $50. But maybe you can enjoy the $20 aspects of the game that you have right now and make the most of it. Ill be happy to hold out for Crysis and happily play The Witcher for the moment.

I don't know about some of you but other than not being able to subscribe at the moment I been having a good time. Ok not the best of starts i'll admit but they will get the subscriptions working soon and all will be fine. So no worries , all will be fine and just ignore the nay sayers who seem to be trolling the Hellgate forums looking for an excuse to insult a great game. |

I was there for WoW on opening day and that was tough. I think the way LoTRO launched is the best way because you avoid everyone logging in at once. They had the pre order players that logged in a few days earlier and then the regular players trickle in without as much of a stampede like it sounds here. |

I was in the WOW launch and it was not ROUGH by any means. It had the typeical Lag Issues occasional, but a far sight from being a constant issue. People were having a blast through all of public beta and couldnt wait for opening day starting at Midnight the night before. It was a blast all through opening day, and other than the infrequent freezes during looting, and a few other lag issues. It was awesome.
But again. STOP REFERRING HELLGATE TO MMOS! Refer to Guildwars if you must, or just refer to other multiplayer games like Battlefield, Diablo, or even an RTS game, this is no different in regards to the multiplayer aspects. NO DIFFERENT. Almost every game thats released today has online multiplayer with a Lobby to login to and find other players. Thats all you got in Hellgate. Hellgate's is a 3D graphical lobby.. ooooh.. its suddenly an MMO now because I can see a bunch of player characters in the lobby! *blissful confusion* Bring back Liberty, Freedom, & The Constition. Originally posted by OdyssesTrue LoTRO launch day is just like a normal day. No big influx. The game has been almost fully polished in open beta, and the same world and population are brought over to launch. Apart from a few hours of down time the game world carries over seamlessly. Those who said that WoW launch was smooth must have some very tolerant limits. WoW started out with huge lags and constant linkdeads for many. Eventually Bliz has to take off all worlds (for a few days? I do not remember, it was so frustrated back then, we have to go to the web continuously to see when the game can be played) and refit the whole line of servers. After that things were suddenly much smoother. In contrast. DAoC can be seen as a classic example of success. Unlike LoTRO, they do not carry over the open beta, but the launch was smooth. All the starter zones were working. Bugs found in slightly higher tier zones were fixed immediately when they are reported. The servers never went down. But back to topic. It is ridiculous to call HGL a disaster. What is a disaster? something that caused huge damage and sometimes irreparable damage. What damage has HGL brought to the OP? A couple days of playing solo instead of online? That is irreparable damage? |

Originally posted by Wolfsheim The tilde key "~" brings up the console. If you do this, when you log in you can see the current user count. On Shulgoth, the US server, there was over 14k people playing tonight. At its peak, I saw 15,300+ people logged in. I know this because I had the console up and I kept re-rolling. I happened to notice this number popping up as I logged in. so, what were you saying about servers.. and a max of 100? elaborate because I only know of one server and it handles over 15k at one time and did so tonight very well. troll much? |

During the launch week of WoW, my server not only had constant lag issues, but we had frequent rollbacks for a few days. I would not classify it as smooth. LOTRO was very smooth. |

Yes the server that i was on also experienced the same thing. Its a big flop this game. Could be another vanguard in the making. This game could do much better and im hoping it improves in at least 3-4months |

Originally posted by Ruthgar I got a free 2 months of play due to the WoW launch. I enjoyed the free time, but yeah it was an absolute failure of a launch. So far HG:L has been superb. They took down the servers for 2 hours to update the content to be allowable for everyone due to a billing issue with credit cards and subscriptions, and has been great since. Hopefully a 2 hours patch didn't turn anyone off because I loved making my zombot =) |

Again back to the "town" very funny when you jsut went though 2 zones and its happen right before you are about to open a new station. its defenitly a disaster for the online part of the game.. honnestly it couldnt have been worse. guess the other half of the diablo team, the one that KNOWS how to handle the servers went to Arena net ? i wanted to give them a chance even with their subscription crap but i guess i was wrong.. maybe i ll try in a few monthes .
