Nothing good to play.

1) Has no US release plans.

2)  Has delayed beta longer than most game development cycles

3) Has absolutely no developer communication.

This forum reminds me a lot of DnL before it came out.  Don't get me wrong, I think the ideas in this game look fantastic, but like AoC, TCoS will fail due to it's real time combat, I cannot even begin to imagine the amount of lag that will be produced with hit boxes and aiming in an MMORPG, with today's technology, it simply cannot be done, look at EVE online for example.

Someone prove me wrong, but this forum reeks of naive gamers getting strung along by a not-so transparent development team that is working on a game that has ZERO release plans for the USA.

1) Im english so dont care about US release dates ;p besides their target gate is Q1 2008 apparently, no idea if thats a world wide release but it shows they have got a date for a release i doubt they would mention it if they werent sure they would make it.

2) seems to be paying off the game looks better every time i see it especially that stress test they showed although the animations and graphics( although that bit seemed to be down to the poor quality of fraps) could use work but they have said that them self its always a good sign when a dev team admits what is crap about their game at the moment and what isnt is it not?

3) no idea about how much they communicate with their fanbase because i havent really kept up with the game intently.

Real time combat is used all the time, i think you mean skill based/twitch based combat which TCOS and Darkfall are the only ones aiming for age of conan is not twitch based it is more akin to say morrowind in that you swing your weapon in a directional arc then whether it hits or not is based on dice rolls.

This game looks like it is going in the right direction that new stress test demo shows they can handle alot of people fighting on screen at once, i hear the game also makes instances based on how many people are in the world at the time as well might of heard that wrong but if it is true then that will deffinatly help with the lag.

Also who said they have NO plans? they plan on releasing their closest audience, just like wow did for instance with wow it came out in the USA first, in fact quite alot of games come out in the usa first so its about time we got one first and you guys second ;p

I really doubt any mmo company doesnt have plans in place for expansion but why put all you cards on the table at once especially with your first mmo? If this game does badly then they will lose less money if say they released world wide. It also gives them a chance to cope with the people they get playing the game in stages rather than risk get in over your head with potentially thousands of players at once.

Its more benificial for an indy developer and much cheaper/safer to release in 1 country at a time, If anything its better for US players they get the game last since the launch may be smoother if they are better prepared/more experienced from their intial launch.

This game doesnt remind me of dark and light boards though, see darkfall forums for that comparison lol.

edit: forgot to say whether this game is any good remains to be seen but it looks promising and they have shown that they have a game that works so it is not surprising people are getting hyped up about it, im admittedly alot more interested after seeing the last video they released. But i wouldnt compare it the dark n light or say darkfall forums which is basically the same game mark 2 lol

1) You don't know that.

2) Most game development cycles last longer then two years.

3) An obvious lie.

So what is the purpose of your post? Calling everyone in this forum naive? Sounds like trolling to me.

1) Having no US publisher does not mean there are no US release plans. If they can not find a US publisher, they'll release the game for US themselves but a few months later then the US and asian versions.

2) Actually the only release announcments have been 2k7, Q4-2K7 and Q1-2K8.. in times where publishers have finally understood that even MMO games need to be released in a finished state, this is very well understandable. AoC and warhammer online where initially planned for Q1-2K7 too, do you see the big picture of things.

3) Actually i have never been in a game where developers are more open and give more information during beta then for TCoS. But finding this information requires you to visit the officiall site and use your eyes. These developers are our breath and butter and they truly communicate. Almost every serious question on the TCoS boards gets an answer.

If real time combat can't be done remains to be seen.. we will know in Q1 2k8

2. Sure you are in beta?

This is your first post on the Spellborn part of this website...

Next to that you're playing, or where playing Vanguard a lot. And you are a vivid fan of Warhammer online and almost begging to get in their beta too.  So either you are not in TCoS beta, or you don't like the TCoS beta enough. Which both are not real good things for TCoS.

1) Your right they don't have a publisher and for good reason. US publishers have bad habit of trying to force a game out before it is ready just to make a quick buck or to gain an advantage over another mmorpg before it releases. The Devs of Spellborn are avoiding that by not setting any deals yet. Doesn't mean they don't have any US publishers they are just not going to let them get in the way of development. Also this is not a american made mmorpg so it may come as shock but americans may have to wait a few more weeks before they get there hads on the game. Thats not set in stone but its something that people should keep in mind. Just for the record check out theses links that shows the deals they do have.

This game is not even out yet and there are already deals to sell this game in more than half of the online world. Can you show proof like this of what ever mmorpg your backing or any other mmorpg in development? Not even World of Warcraft had it this good before release.

2) If you where keeping up with this game or saw the GC 2007 video that was showed here. The game has been in development for little over four years. Four years is the bare mininum for a mmorpg's development. Your not going to see a high quailty mmorpg come out in less then that time. Theses days its taking longer and longer to make a good mmorpg that can hold its own today. Besides theses devs are smart enough to know that you have to set aside time just on polishing a game so that it doesn't fail on release. Don't you dare hold Spellborn in the same like as Dark and Light. Just a quick question. How long has AoC and Warhammer among other mmorpgs have been in development? Rigth now the Devs of Spellborn have annouce that they are going for a 1Q release.  So they have actually made great time when it comes to mmorpg development. Considering that they are thinking outside the box with new features that actually work they are doing a great job.

3) I don't know where you got this from. If you using mmorpg.com as your main source of info on Spellborn. Judging by your comments you are. Then you know about 10% of the information even the newest member of spellborn does. Unlike other mmorpgs with crap main sites that give little or no infomation on there game. An forces fans to go to fansites or other third party sites like this one. Spellborn keeps all the sweetest info for those who are really interested. Its there for anyone to see. You just have to go to the main site to get it. No dev team has ever been as open with there fan base as the Spellborn team. When was the last time you ask a question about your game and a dev personaly come to answer it in less then a day. Or at the very least a CM will come and answer it for you. An by the silm chance the CM doesn't know. They will pass it on to the devs themself.

An for the record if you really want to know about dev communication. Have you even seen the Dev's corner section at Spellborn? Every thing from Dev videos, Q&A sessions, behind the scene looks, improvements on existing and new features. Go to the main site of Spellborn and look to the right. You will see stuff that we got just in October and September. Go to the dev's corner and you can see the rest of it. The really great thing is we get this stuff weekly. Alot of the time we get two or three of theses a week.

Heres the link to the dev's corner you should check it out. This isn't even counting what we get in the other forums

http://www.tcos.com/sbforum/viewforum.php?f=105&sid=82ae77e7126457a3a50c99a82c3b398a

As for your last comments. You really don't know much of anything of spellborn outside of the basics. Have you read the latest Interview at TenTon Hammer? They talk about newest achivement as far as lag goes. They can have more then 500 players doing everything from running around to fighting mobs or each other without any downtime crashs or lag. If you at the history of there combat system. They found the perfect balance of real-time combat combine with the normal issues that happens with any mmorpg that includes polygon count. The end results. You have a  game that will not push the average player's pc beyong there limits. If you PC can handle world of warcraft with no problem then your pc is more then enough to handle Spellborn.

I have proven wrong on every count Dis_Ordur. You should take the time to do your homework on Spellborn before you make statements like this. In the end I must thank you. I don't know what your agend really is. Or who you are backing. But this little stunt has work in Spellborn's favor. Now there is infomation out that normally people would not know because you would have to go to the main site to see it.

Wow, that is some really good information TRMC!

I hope we can start to get some of these people, like Dis_Ordur, educated on what an awesome game TCoS is.

so you are saying that the game will fail cause it gots a Real time combat system? ummm, and games like Guild Wars that NEEDS a real good ping (cause the interruption and the casting skills are less than 1 sec) or the FPS, or Hellgate or... I think this is not a good reason, we need new things, and there is people that when they see this "new" things get scared, and say "this will fail". Im not with you I think this, and aoc, will help the community to get another step ahead in a market where everything is the same, personally Im tired of click and hit, griding and Diablo "copy paste".

it really seems like the OP doesnt REALLY know what hes talking about except for the US release plans.

Even living in the US, game companies really try to push out games way too early because they go crazy and make "set due dates" and if they change em people get all mad.

I dont know much about this game, but looking on their website I have seen lots of dev comments and updates.

Even though I alrdy have, I cant believe im feeding into such a dumb post.

I play all ghame

You obviously didn't even bother you check their website. Right now, there are 4 Dev Journals, 2 Q&As, 1 commented video and a "Project Update" on the front page, all no more than a month old.

You want dev communication, I suggest you start here: www.tcos.com/sbforum/viewtopic.php

I'm not quite sure why everyone is becoming overly defensive. He is clearly trying to get a rise out of people by making outrageous accusations with no intent to provide evidence or back them up. Ever wonder why he hasn't posted again? I think they call it "trolling" but I'm not so hot with forum lingo. I'm going to get some rest and I suggest you fellas do the same because everyone is getting riled up over nothing. G'night.

Well I hope they do get a US publisher because the game looks alot more promising than the garbage that is comming out in 2008. Most US based MMO's are looking like shameless money grabs that are lame clones of other games with the name of some movie or TV show tacked onto it.

I wonder how people can say that the dev's are not in contact with you. Go see their official website and you should find frequent replies and updates on what's going on, seems like the most promising MMORPG ever, and for you US players, too bad
