1 second.. ill go grab my fire fighting kit. WAR PvE is just like WoW's, Public quests get boring after a few run throughs so they are not as great as people like to think. They are basicly a new way to grind faction. WAR PvP is just very unorganised.. you get no resaon to kill class x over class y or to protect team members such as your healers or tanks etc.. its just a frag fest with no reason to stratagies. Just more oppinion ofc. |

I have played WoW on and off since release. I am definetely looking forward to Warhammer. I love the PvP combat features that are going to be added, (I was really disappointed when Battlegrounds were added to Wow which took away from the feel of fun combat on the PvP servers which could happen at anytime in almost every zone). I also played DAoc for a few years from release and loved how the game played, the PvP part anyways, and think as long as some of those features are brought over and added upon that Warhammer will be a viable contender with WoW. If you decide to give it a try (Warhammer), you will definetely not be alone! Currently Playing: Nothing (waitinf for WAR) |

Originally posted by Scorn_ArkaneTo bad it was a little hard to do that in DAoC with the /assist train.... If a group was determined to take down healer, they are dead!
I hope they have learned a little from DAoC. And BTW, I do like Mythic as a company. So I hope they do very well with the game. Just hope they can figure out some ways to deal with past mistakes.

Originally posted by cupertino Congratulations on showing everyone here that you have little to no grasp of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. Everything that you do in WAR has a reason and a purpose.....to further the war effort for your faction. You want to raid the enemies city? You need realm points. 'Boring' public quests earn points. Every PvP kill that you make earns points. And guess what, if you don't protect your healers and they die (and you along with them), the enemy earns points. Yup, it all sounds like a pointless fragfest with no strategy. [/sarcasm] |

Originally posted by slippyC I believe they have upgraded their collision detection for opposite faction players so you can not just slide past tanks, you will have to kill them to get by, unless the tank is garbage and just still still while he attacks. |

All of the things that the second poster mentioned are all being reworked, so that point is null and void. Yes, I want to try WAR. I am a little worried at this point that they won't have learned from past MMO's mistakes, but it sounds like they are hellbent on doing just that. I like several of the features of WAR. The fact that world PvP isn't just for PvP sake, but to further your realm's lead. I like that you can sack a city. People may complain, but I get sick of seeing the same ol stuff day after day after day (well, not in all cases, but the things that could obviously change... ) I hope that I see in WAR: Player housing (within city confines... because, it would be yet another reason as a player that you would want to prevent your city from getting sacked). Linear and Non-linear player progression. I like leveling, but I also would like to be able to branch out a little bit. Visible ranking system for the enemy that you are about to face in PvP (For example, WoW has elites... it would be cool that if you were PvPing against a like leveled char, with infinitely better gear, that an elite or something, dragon would appear around their portrait, and you would get bonus points for your realm if you were to take him down one on one. Anyhow... I am just ranting... WAR to WoW, yes I will be trying WAR out for sure! |

Originally posted by TedDansonIf I told you id have to kill you.. or at the very least get my precious MMORPG account banned.. yet again. You can choose not to believe me which is fine, after all its just my oppinion. Theres a reason WAR beta has closed for 2-3 months and id bet it was to work on the issues I highlighted with PvP. Shoju : I was not talking about the reasons to PvP, I was talking about the act of PvP'ing which is very unorganised and offers little strategy or reason to help youe team mates out. |

Originally posted by cupertino You know the closing of beta is a scheduled stop and not something last minute, right? Just like they did earlier in the year. If you didn't know and understand this I highly doubt you are in the beta. |

Originally posted by Scorn_Arkane I'm hoping, and I'm sure they are, taking out /assist(or atleast /assist on other players). The problem isn't just the collision detection, you could have casters do the same thing on your Healers. One target healer then others /assist that Caster and they are all nuking your Healer at once. Pretty much like a Headshot with a sniper riffle in Halo, you go down so fast. |

looking forward to the launch... DAoC launch was by far one of the best in terms of connectivity, lack of bugs etc. im sure the launch will be good for this game as well |

Originally posted by Shoju Congratulations on YOUR knowledge of WAR despite your having never played it. Dear god your post looks so hilarious. What did you read that off their website? Unless you've played it, YOU don't have any knowledge either. I've watched a friend play as much as he wanted and and cupertino is 100% correct. The game is as far away from DAoC as it could be. No one coordinates in PvP and it IS just a frag fest. The PvE is bland and, even if the quests are FUNNIER than WoW, they are definately just about the same thing. So people ask, "Why does everybody compare it to WoW?!!11". Well guys, its either one of two things. That person is either a major WoW noob and has only played WoW as his/her MMO, or the game REALLY IS a complete knock-off of WoW. Hello guys, I'm Weskhan and I have been playing MMOs since UO, so I guess that rules out ONE of the options! Now what could be the other? Hummm... But again, even if cupertino said something about the game (like I did in the past) all we can say is, "You can believe us or not". Of course, all the people on here probably think that the closed beta testers NEVER release information about the game!!!! Never!!! Jesus... If you're a huge DAoC fan and are waiting on WAR, you're going to be extremely disappointed when it is released. I've had multiple posts about this in the past, but everyone seems to use the same dumbass NDA statement. My advice is to look at Age of Conan now, because my faith in WAR has been completely whiped. Maybe AoC can bring something good to the table. Originally posted by TedDanson Note : I love how everytime somebody says they've played WAR people ask the dumbest question, "How have you played it? You either havn't played it or are in the beta, and if you were in the beta you wouldn't be saying that because the NDA!" Has it ever CROSSED your mind that people break the NDA and talk about it anyways? Have you even THOUGHT about that being possible? Jesus christ, I've seen so many people say that and it's such a short-minded statement. |

SO what you are saying is that you have to 'GRIND' realm points to be able to unlock other parts of the game? I don't feel so bad about the constant crap that people give WoW about grinding now :) Anyway, back to the original question. I won't be switching to WAR without a very good reason and even then it wouldn't be for a few months after release at least. From what i have heard on the whole so far from people playing the Beta and preview articles i see nothing major to attract me to the game. I will reserve complete judgement until after release though as it is unfair to give a complete 'no' on a game that is not even released yet. It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays. |

I have played WoW for 2 and a half years now and really im tired of the high-fantasy genre on the whole We gingers are a proud people, we are the noble descendants of great americans like Ron Howard and.... others...We will not be discrimated against any longer, for we are a great race!! - Eric Cartman |

I cant wait for WAR. wow has gotten old and all blizz cares about is end game content 1-69 dont matter. in WAR all the zones matter as they contribute to the end game teir. so what if the pvp is pointless ITS BETA they just want to test stuff right now i dont think they want their beta players getting ready for launch instead of finding bugs. WoWs pve was a copy of GASP EQ go kill y of x quest wasnt wow's big idea neither was raiding. i think the RvR will shape up closer to launch maby at open beta when they really wont care if you start to practice for live. Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time. If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day. AMD 4800 2.4ghz-3GB RAM 533mhz-EVGA 9500GT 512mb-320gb HD |
