considering that LoTRO is the second largest N American MMORPG and VG damn near folded before it launched I am surprised anyone needed to ask LOL

Worse game is Vanguard by far !  But LOTR is not far from it.  I still believe the only reason the game is so succesful is because the franchise name.   If the game would have been titled Lord of the Jimbo Online it would probably be in the same boat as Vanguard.

I think both are failure since LOTR fail to get over 1mill like they wanted.

I suppose the balanced classes and polished game play had nothing to do with LoTRO's overwhelming initial success. The game released head and shoulders better than any MMORPG in history and Turbine just keeps adding features and polishing the original concepts while adding new quests, new areas, and new features every couple of months in free updates isn't exactly hurting it either.

you did not miss anything by not playing VG Virtuella, just think of a DArk and Light or Horizons and you pretty much get the gist of Vanguard. If you did not play either of those then just slam your fingers in your car door a few times then try and imagine something even more painful. It was just another SOE trainwreck

Nah i can't believe that Vanguard is just as bad as Dark & Light or Horizons.Those 2 games takes the prize when it comes to badly released mmorpg's.

I still slam my head against the wall when i think about how much time i spent following those 2 games in production,Beta and release.

I bet Vanguard is tons more fun than those 2 or else i can only say this.

eh it is as I feared, Vanguard is too hard for many of you posters, so you claim that LOTRO is better and more polished and all this junk.....I have a lvl 50 stupid minstrel and tried endgame (killed thorog in helegrod, gained ranks in pvp)...

this wasnt a troll, it was just my opinion and I wanted to see that others agree and the MMO market hasnt gone completely to the dark side.

it just seems sad to me that a game being buggy and unfinished makes the carebears deny the fact that it really does offer a lot more to a hardcore MMO gamer then games like WoW and LOTRO. Maybe its more buggy because its harder to make 5x more content (damn right im still going with that) perfect. And LOTRO was still hella buggy...in really pathetic ways (even in TINY starting zones)

I figured that the WoW LOTRO carebears, who think they are good at MMORPGs because they maxed these games would come and bash this thread. oh well game on! Thanks for all the opinions

This is one thing that really cracks me up about so called "hardcore" MMO gamers.    They think that their MMO is superior when all it really requires is more time.  What is so difficult about Vanguard?   Do you really think it takes more skill to get a maxed lvl character in either game?   It is not super mario bros on expert mode where you have to make 15 jumps perfectly timed to get to the next lvl.   Its all about the amount of time you spend grinding at something.   The only difference between WoW, LoTRO, Vanguard, EvE, EQ2 or any other MMO you want to name is the amount of time you have to spend doing the same things over and over to achieve max level.

VG is indeed in bad shape.  Sigil were picking their nose it's obvious.  I like what SOE is doing now.  3 huge updates and tons of bug fixes since it got in their hands.  I feel an EQ2 scenario here...  SOE will turn the game around.  Let's see if Turbine can keep this one going for a while before it gets forgotten like DDO.

Actuly i don't think a lot of people that play Lotro have played DDO.
