The thread got moved onto letting your children play AOC, but that's not what Salvatoris was saying. He was simply talking about playing the game in the same room as his kids. Posters got off on a tagent trying to villianise Salvatoris talking about nudity and his kids. That's why I told Zido 2-3 pages back that he obviously hadn't read the previous posts. No one ever suggested anything about letting their kids play, they were talking how the game wouldn't bring in a more "mature" player base because it's not a game that many parents will fieel comfortable playing with their kids in the same room. |

agreeing with some others it wont "force" a mature player base but it will considerably reduce the amount of annoying immature kids that will want to play it... hopefully all of them stay playing wow I miss wow... |

With the recent tightening of game ratings, and considering the mobs like the demon woman will probably have more than one spawn, the multiple boobs could put this game at an AO in the US... That will sucks, in which the Funcom will have to rid it of the full frontal or lower the amount of mobs with it, something to put it at M so normal stores carry it... and so my parents don't freak when I'm already getting nice and bloody, but it's with a pair of tits. |

I disagree with the OP 100% Age =/ Maturity ESPECIALLY with anything connected to, making use of, or operating from the Internet. There will always be jerks in online games, you just can't let them ruin your own enjoyment of the game. |

I could see it going either way. Of course it will help keep younger players from playing, however, are younger players usually the problem? Of course they hurt the Role-Playing aspect of the game, but they are not typically griefers. |

Originally posted by rubydragon5 You seem to forget that- 1. There are a lot of bad parents who don't care or monitor what their children do. 2. There are a lot of bad/bored/stupid people who work at stores that will sell anything to kids w/o I.D. 3. Age /= maturity. 4. Many like me, I'm nearly 24, have zero interest in the "maturity" of this game because the "mature" content will most likely bring out the most immature thoughts and behaviors from players. Why? Anything and everything in an online game can and will be abused. There is always some @-hole. So why even put this kind of crap in the game to tempt the immature/idiotic among us? 5. D!ck and f*rt jokes in games (characters urinating etc.) /= mature content. If anything it's less mature because it isn't taken "seriously." 6. Sex/nudity in games is just plain perverted. Developers are feeding on the stereotype that 'gamers' are immature, sexually inexperienced, horny, social misfits who giggle at boobies. This does NOT equal maturity

Originally posted by bverji Good for them, said parents should be glad to know that there is a toggle to censor/remove visual mature content, including nudity and the worst of the gore. They will be quite able to turn it on when children are there to see. I agree with you on most of the points here, but come on, there is an immature pervert in all of us.. some of us just know when to let him/her out and when to keep them quiet. |

Originally posted by saivior It's really funny, that bar fights and swearing actually make a person less mature in real life. But we all do it. (Swear that is, bar fights are less common and not too fun trust me lol) And sex? Well, it should only be between mature consenting adults but I think we all know that's not the case most of the time. Point is, do these things have a place in games? Bar fights, yeah that's a cool feature. Not going to lie. It's a bloody, gore filled game about combat and death. Bar fight fits that motif. Sex and swearing and d!ck/f*rt jokes? Should have no place in gaming IMO Players will talk about this crap enough in chat channels and within their guilds (and Chuck Norris jokes) so why "force" it on players as developer content? It'll be like one, giant Barrens chat. Ewww.. "You'll find a great many of the truths we cling to depend greatly upon our point of view." |

Much to learn about the human race, you have! I doubt many people will even try fighting each other, they'll be doing... :) And don't forget, GTA is 18+ too, nobody looks after it... And adults can be just as retarded as kids... The game you want, with an excellent and polite community is just a dream, there'll always be people scamming others, spamming OMG!!!1!1!, etc. The only thing that might help getting a serious community, is by making it very complicated. At least that's my opinion :D You know it, the best way to realize your dreams is waking up and start moving, never lose hope and always keep up. |

Not only in America :D parents love suing people, if they sue the company, people will think they're doing a great job parenting, if they go to a bakery and say: "hi, could i get a loaf of bread, o, did i forget to say that i allow my kids to play sexual games ?" well.. i suppose that'll be the last time you'll enter that bakery You know it, the best way to realize your dreams is waking up and start moving, never lose hope and always keep up. |

Originally posted by rubydragon5Most people in for example wow that act immature, the ones that beg for gold, dance on mail boxes etc are over 18. In fact i have met more mature 14-16 year olds in that game than i have 30+ year olds which there are a lot of. At the end of the day half naked women are not going to bring mature players to the game, it will bring immature. Mature people wont care about the nude models it wont bring them to the game, it is the other features in the game that bring people that are mature to it not all these gimmics like excessive blood, nudity, sex buffs ( not sure if its been confirmed ) npcs taking a piss etc Also look at games like GTA to see how a rating means absolutley nothing, a mature rated game generally attracts more immature people than mature, its a fact of gaming always has been. Hopefully these people will be easy to ignore since there will be a lot of them. |

immature people have low attention span, they'll just go "ehehehe...boobies" for a while and then get bored and hop to a next game leaving AoC for mature players.

Took your sweet time to post tht beating a dead horse thing eh Fonz No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga- |

I would love to agree with the OP, but history has proven that many parents will buy anything for their kids if it will only shut them up for a while.
Case in point, GTA:SA. How many kids played this game, and how many lawsuits were there because the "evil" gaming company didn't do enough to protect the children. I mean... other than the "M" and eventually "AO" rating.
People are stupid, people are lazy. If it gets their kid out of their hair, some parents are going to let their kid play it. Others will let thier kids play because the kids won't stop bugging about it. Others because ALL the other kids are doing it.
I wish it weren't so, but sadly it is.
Also, SWG back Pre-CU had a very mature population (at least on wanderhome server) game was complex, and had a learning curve. Kids hate a hard game they can't beat in 20 minutes. Sadly, that is the only way to have a kid free game. Make it hard, and no "uber" loot. I count him braver who overcomes his desires than him who conquers his enemies; for the hardest victory is over self. |
