Well, since he completely forgot how to be funny he might as well go into politics.

I always wondered when these guys would run out of ideas... Interesting clip of him though. Comedians have feelings too! +15 for Misbehavior and Mr. Zen.

That's what is wrong with the country. Sure people think Colbert is a funny guy (I particularly think he is a no talent asshat), but he would make a horrible President. It would sicken me to think even a single person would vote for him as he as no political experience whatsoever other than being a host of a parodiable political talk show.

Vote for the right person for the job - not someone who is just "popular".

Well there are a number of things wrong with this paragraph:

  1. This is what makes the U.S. the U.S. Anybody can run for President. Do you really assume we take that right away simply so politicians can stay politicians?
  2. I don't, and probably you don't know exactly what Colbert's political background is. Just for the record, though, any Political Science major could run this country with the right cabinet.
  3. Maybe something like this is what the U.S. needs. I'm not saying specifically him, but we do need something different. The republicrats can't fix our country when all they care about is pushing their own agenda.

It is obviously a joke by the way. Although it does throw in a very good candidate for a protest vote, when the election comes by.

im gonna have to call BS on the underlined statment as both the parties push their own agenda. i think colber would be great mostly because i agree with his ideas. also if you have ever watch his show he is a very smart person. basicly if a democrat becomes presdient we pull out of the middle east and then they bomb us here.

Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.

This is a joke and should be taken as such, no need for anybody to be a stuck-up prick about it. Anyways, his whole purpose is to show everybody any random person with at least some form of celebrity status and/or money can throw their hat into the presidential toilet...and do nothing but steal votes from other candidate, like Independents.

I'd vote for him.

Why? Because quite simply regardless of party all of the candidates are worthless. I might as well get some amusement out of a joke vote as a protest of that.

Who knows, maybe if by some utterly freak chance he manages to win there will be changes. By choosing someone outside of the normal political circles maybe the parties will finally get the idea we are feed up and finally offer us someone worth a damn in the next election.

Colbert has made a great point about the idiocy of media and society today. That celebrity is more important than policy. Have many/any of you media entrenched Americans even taken time to look through the candidates policies and agendas? What does Colbert stand for? His persona is an adopted one for media, playing off the O'Reily style of presenting and ego humping. Open you god damn eyes people.

Your capitalist system has destroyed any sense of national identity and replaced it with a For-Profit business model of government which leaves the poor disenfranchised, and uses the media to make you all accept middle class values so you don't give a damn whats happening to the world outside of your bubble.

Get off your god damn high horse and look at it like the joke that it is.

Reagan was an actor and then two term governor of California before going on to become President.  While he did make a lot of political speeches (mostly scare speeches about communists hiding in Hollywood), he was hardly a political powerhouse before becoming President.  I don't think it requires experience to be President, only awareness.  Which is why Bush is a bad president.

I was really impressed how Reagan's economic "trickle down theory / Reaganomics"" really helped out all the people in the country??  Well the rich did get richer I guess that is a possitive right?  Oh as for the national debt effect that his economic plan had....brilliant.

Already saw the movie, Man Of The Year,  with Robin Williams in it. I quite like the idea of civilian politicians, career politicians seem to entrenched in our government.

Colbert doesn't actually act like that, it's a character he is portraying on his T.V show.  If you ever saw an actual interview, where he was not acting in that manner, you would see he is a very intelligent, down to earth guy. I don't know how he would fair as a politician, because I am sure some members of our government are sort of wishy-washy towards him.

If he does run for office, I see it as something similar to Man of The Year, people aren't neccisarily voting for him, they are voting for a change  because they are unhappy with our governments current status. I hope he does run, and actually makes some sort of splash against these "well-qualified" oppositions.

Though we have heard of stupid haste in war, cleverness has never been seen associated with long delays.
