This game was so impersonal, it really did bore me to death. Even hanging around the old SWG cantina was better than this. Having said that before Eve the company were going to make a game called 3rd World (where you were a character, not just a ship). If they ever went back to that idea, I might give the game another shot. As it is, I can't stand it.
Check out the idea for 3rd World - totally went down hill. http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/3rdworld/images.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=gsimage&tag=images;all |

Or is this post to promote the idea of this 3rd World game? |

Third World is no more. They cancelled it in order to make Eve. I'm trying to explain what I disliked about this game. I'm saying that I found myself feeling distant from other players - I saw them as a vessel and not a person. I think this game would be good if the player was able to walk about on stations, go into cantinas and maybe walk around his/her own ship.
EDIT: I will be looking forward to Star Trek online but it wont have the depth Eve has. I think if Eve added that personal touch it could be a good game - or rather a game I would like to play. |

Eve avatars are in development but I'm not sure to what extent they can be used beyond station walking. Also, in Eve it's necessary to join a corporation to completely enjoy Eve; PvP corp wars and battles can be very large and entertaining :). But yea, I see what you mean by avatars as I did get tired of just being a ship even though game was good overall. Maybe it will be more interesting for those that would like to see and use their avatars once they release avatar content. I'm not sure when that will be released; perhaps next year! |

A Good Sandbox isn't about your characters abilities; It's about the players ability. |

You make a valid point, but I disagree. EVE is impersonal and while this may be bad, it is also dramatic and harsh, and this is not. Besides, most of the characters in other games look like they came out of a McDonald's happy meal. The imagination is at least as good as that.

Ambulation (walking in stations) is coming next year, which paves the way for avatar combat some time in the future. They have stated that they want to do it right, so they'll be taking their time. I don't doubt that avatar combat is 2+ years off, but the game will be here to stay in the meantime, and avatar combat will just elongate its life even more. If you don't like the way it is now, then don't play it. For a lot of people, this is the most interesting MMO to date, and you not liking it won't change anything about the game, and won't have any effect on the people who play it. |

lol i find people like you funny as hell, I have played them all, and EVE is the most open ended game I have ever played. The game is what you want to make it. If you sit and mine in a noob ship, you wont last long. As for your watching the paint dry... It just might have a bigger learing curve for you.
So with that said 3months ? can I have your stuff? |

Maybe I'll have a look again after they allow you to walk around stations and actually be a person. For now, I've found a game I like: StarQuest Online. |

I posted a link of the Ambulation stuff on the first page and it even had the video link in there and you are STILL rambling on about not walking in stations? At least do some research on your own or read other posts. If you still cant do these things then STFU and GTFO. |

..I've just said I'll come back to look at the game again once they've added that feature. But until then I'll play else where. I'll do my research if you'll get off your high horse and actually bother to read the posts. |

the title of this post is funny though "And thus I clothe my naked villany/ with old odd ends stolen forth from holy writ/ and seem a saint when most I play the devil." Shakespeare's Richard III Act I Scene 3. |
