We have seen through out the years with SWG, and now obviously STO, that the developers are not going to listen to the player base, because frankly, they never see their fans and when they do its on some panel or something for only a 15 minute period, making it impossible to get their point across.

So really I think it comes down to the Media, being the only ones that could help. I think the amount of kiss-assiery the media does to developers is just, but frankly if the media would address the issues at hand, I think the developers would get kind of a heads up, and change their opinions.

ITs all politics, does the US Senate listen to a kid? an average citizen? No they listen to other senators, so when you need something done you ask your local goverment offical for help. I think now is the time we start asking sites and media to think about their own sub base, and fans, and ask the real questions that need answered, and not just the average 5 question mock up.

Well they do get asked about PSIs at almost every single interview. You'd think they would get the point but sadly we have not seen any sign of that except for Daron Stinnett's very evasive responses on the subject. They are gonna make the game they want no matter what the actual fans want. Its a sad reality but its true unfortunately.

*Stinnett has a great business phylosphy... "Don't worry, there is plenty of time to cancel your subscription."

*Sarcasm (However, Stinnett did say this in an interview).

You Know I''m Right

Daron said it in a blog over at STO.NET. His exact words were, "Don't worry, there is plenty of time to cancel your subscription." He apoligized later, saying it was an off the cuff remark. But he said the players will vote with their dollars.

You can read a new Daron interview here

Again, he is asked about ship interiors. And he nicely evades the question of PSIs. I think Daron is talented, and I like him. He is good at what he does. This man is an educated and sharp person. I admire that strength. However, I wish he would look at the issue in a more sensible way, like put in the damn ship interiors.

I think what it actually comes down to is when you have license like Star Trek, Star Wars, or anything else that already has a very large and extensive universe of existing background material; you are never going to be able to capture all of it.  Everybody has their own idea of what the game should be like and even if the developers nail the aspect they've built their game around, they are still going to fail to satisfy most of their audience.  Expectations for something like this are just doomed to fail.  You have to judge the game on what it is, it can't be all things to all people

Correct, which is why they (PE) should narrow down their audience rather than go for the mass-market appeal.

And that is why...

Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness.

No game is ever going to make ALL  the Trekkers happy

No game is ever going to make ALL the Warsies happy

The fanbases can't agree with themselves on much of anything, what's canon, what's not canon, what's your personal canon, what's George's canon, what's Gene's canon, which books are canon, what books are not.

I feel sorry for PE for pulling that tiger's tail

Exactly! So should they aim their game at the overall MMO community that might play their game or aim it toward the Star Trek community that will play their game? To me if they want to make money the choice is easy. Go for the existing audience instead of gambling on a phantom market that might pay off for them.
