OK everyday that I read about more Halo 3 for XBOX 360 the more pissed I get. Once again Microsuck is using it's market leverage to force something down our throats....the difference is that this time I actually care. Yeah I hate what they did to SUN over open office and Microsoft Office. I hate the hostile business practices they used in the OS market......but trying to strong-arm us into buying Vista by releaseing Halo 3 and Halo 2(and I assume all other "Vista gaming" titles) exclusively for Windows Vista is going to far. I watched as Microsoft renamed my favorite gaming magazine "Games For Windows" and said to myself, "Well I hope this isn't what I think it is." It most definately is.

Here's my rant make some comments: http://mmostrategyguides.com/the_halo_3_for_pc_rant.html

Don't you mean Halo 2 for PC? As far as I know, there are no plans for a Halo 3 pc version yet. I know Halo 2 requires vista, which is just another trick from Microsoft to get you to buy Vista.

Yeah, I saw Halo 2 in the store yesterday as Vista only.  Here's what I thought:

Frack 'em, I guess I won't be playing Halo 2 or 3.

And I still think that.  There are *tons* of other titles out there that are as good as Halo if not better.

I don't get it. Why hold out and force people to buy vista just to play a game thats already a marketing monster.  They have a grip on OS's anyways.  Eventually they will drop support for XP and sell Vista out the yin yang.

I think they are only crippling their own income by marketing it to a single OS. It only makes me wounder what the profits could be if it was available on XP as well.

Well there is no doubt that attitudes haven't changed over there at Microsoft...I guess we will see if the gamers line up like lemmings to buy the "Halo 2 Package Bundled With Windows Vista" for about $250....personally I'm looking at Crysis and Quake Wars: Enemy Territory to fill my shooter void.

It took like 3 years for Halo 2 to hit the PC, and it was worse than it was on the Xbox. I see no reason why anybody would anticipate Halo 3 on the PC.

do you think it maybe has to do with a certain feature that is only available on Vista and not some conspiracy?

What am I thinking, this thread is about Microsoft.  Now shutting my brain off so I can join in...

 To Spathotan,

Oh did it? I have never played any of the Halo games. I did not realize it took them that long to go to PC. Makes sense then if its gonna take them that long to even put it on the shelves for PC.

N25philly , and what features would that be? I don't see any other games being widely marketed for Vista only. I do see alot of games that can be run with Vista  and XP tho.

Perhaps, although Shadowrun supposedly could only run on Vista because of unique Vista and Directx10 components, and it's already been cracked and runs fine on XP. Maybe Halo 2 and 3 truly need what Vista has, but the Shadowrun incident makes me exceptionally gunshy.

Not that I care much about Halo. The original port of Halo was sloppy, and required way too much juice than it should have. After having to turn the graphics way down on my monster rig to play it I regarded the franchise with distrust and apathy from then on.

I was actually talking about GFW live, not any of the graphics stuff.

Here's the deal...there are a ton of things that vista can do that Xp can't. DirectX10 being the big one obviously. Just because a system can't run direct x 10 or anything else doesnt mean it can't run the game. For example games that run certain pixel shaders run fine on video cards that cant handle those shaders you just don't get the full effect until use a card that can run the shaders...then everything looks better.

Developers and publishers make games that work with XP and Vista so that they can sell more games. Microsoft is sticking  to their guns of unethical business practices reasoning that they can make more off the sales of Vista that the game drives than the additional sales of the game that XP users who refused to upgrade to Vista would buy.

In short they are betting on at least a large percentage of the gamers that want to play the game lining up to get Vista......honestly they are probably right but I won't be one of them. I'll go to Vista when it works properly not because I got strong armed into it.

Took 4 years almost for Halo to come to PC with no graphics upgrade at a time when the generick level design was well out of fashion.

Halo 2 took around 3 years with the same problems as above.

Spathotan and MetalDragon. You guys clearly saw what I was getting at.  I did not care if it was a dumbed down version of the game on XP. My whole reason for asking was profit motivated not technology. And those 2 clearly saw what I was getting at.

I was not harping on Vista I was not harping on Microsoft. I just wanted to know why they were not going with the current user base of both OS's to maximize their profit.  Because clearly if it made 170 mill in 24 hours its gonna make a shitload more in the long run to put it mildly.

I did not realize it took them so long to convert from console to pc.  By the time its converted,  XP will most definately not have a big user base like it currently does.

They shoulda sent hookers dressed as characters so they wouldn't have exposed that they were sending "Gifts" to reviewers.

Edit- O.O how did this end up in this thread?

Its all about making many 10's of Billions selling Vista Boxes.

You're right, Microsoft's master evil plans revolves completely around 2 pc games.  Does anyone read what they type before they click on post message?
