Hi all, just finalising a new build at the moment but i am having trouble deciding on the ram and would appreciate any help or suggestions you guys can give. Basically im trying to decide between getting 4Gb of reasonably good ram or 2G really good ram with only the possibility of adding more in the future. Do i need 4gb, i do quite alot of 3dsmax and editing so...

OCZ DDR2 PC8000 2048MB KIT, Titanium Alpha VX2, w/two 1024MB, CL4-4-4-15

or

Corsair TWIN2X 6400 DDR2, 4096MB CL5, Kit w/two matched CM2X2048-6400 Dimm's

Im also able to get a free 88000 GTX which is lucky (cos of the new cards) but if i pay an extra £50 for the EVGA KO version which may be worth it.

Lastly, would all these run perfectly on the:

Gigabyte GA-P35-DQ6, P35, Socket-775, ATX, Silent Pipe, 1333FSB, 2xPCI-Ex16 [info] +63.18

or would i be better off getting the

Gigabyte GA-N680SLI-DQ6, nForce-680i SLI ,ATX , Socket-775, 4xGbLAN, 2xPCI-Ex16

Thanks for all your help :)

Quality

Keep in mind that you built a very good machine already which is more than able to run any game with 2 GB Ram.
You don't need 4 right now (unless you can affor good quality)
But buying 2 GB Ram of good quality, you can always upgrade it in 1 year time to 4
By then, the same good quality Ram is half the price

For the 3DSMax you need good CPU and GPU and a fast Ram not necessarily a 4 GB

I would go with the p35 motherboard and the 2 gigs of better quality ram.  Like you say yourself, you can always add more later if needed.  Better than buying 4 gigs worth twice, right?
