I know most people hate runescape because of the community, graphics, and the animations...but I think that it has pretty good concepts. They have many extra skills that you can do besides combat...and they have actual quests. Quests where you don't just kill 10 things....what I mean is like grinding in disguise..runescape actually has pretty good quests. Does anyone know a game like this, but with better graphics. Please do not say WoW, and hopefully there is something out there thats free.

Runescape IMO, Is the only true MMO out there. If you take away all the bots and immature people and scammers, Its a good game. I'm playing it now and all I do is PvP. I love that I can pvp and have risk vs reward. I love that armor is really common and it feels like a real game. I love the quests...There is the one quest where you can join the white knights, But you need to do a bunch of puzzles. One was where you had to open a stone door with no handle, They gave you a bunch of chemicals and you had to figure out the right chemical combination to get the stone to melt. People had to know some chemistry to do that (I suck at it).

So......Here's to runescape.

i have been saying this for quite some time, the only thing holding it back (if you can say holding it back considering it has 1 mill subscribers and 9 million active players) is the graphics, click2move, and lack of "skills" (in the sense of its autoattack)

but ya, i spent much more time doing all the non-combat skills back when i used to play

me and my friends used to have a blast trying to get rich

more games need to be structured like runescape

Runescape has very good content but  very very very very bad: graphics, animations, community....

I agree with that ^^ , i just played it for a while (when i had a crap PC) and ye i saw that the content is very nice compared to some actual MMOs but the graphics and stuff dont help the game that much....

I think runescape is a very good game, I'm more into the content of the game than the graphics so that may be a reason, but regarding the community, I have found that it is possible to surround yourself with a good group of people and not have to deal with all of the scammer, beggars...etc. I am currently working on getting a santa hat myself. I've made 12.4m in 5 days so far mining rune ore in the heroes guild and can't wait to see if i can get 99 mining and eventually a white party hat..  I think one of the biggest attractions is that there is always something you can do more, even zezima can still improve some skills to potentially be #1 in a skill. Well i hope people can start to see that its not that bad of a game and give it some credit. PM me in game if you want. Rwoneca.

Edit2: To the OP, even though I hate runescape and the fanboys that play it, I have to agree with you, Runescape does have a good concept. The quest part that is. Even though the entire game is a sh**fest, the quests are original.

I find the skill system the best part, being a mage ranger and melee'er at the same time kicks ass

Just thought i'd point out it has 5m active players, 1mil being members. Theres 9mil active accounts, thats probably where u got mixed up. Still quite popular though i must admit i can only think of WoW being more popular than it correct me if i'm mistaken...

i agree that it has good concepts.this game ain't that bad as ppl say.i mean it does give good quests(real quests).plus the changes on the game they are doing ain't half bad,its really making the game better for others.plus it can teach you about merchanting(mainly the reason why i play this).and the combat is a little goodbut there are bad concepts to this game.some ppl play this game to scam others.its a real pain in the ass for ppl only to play to scam, i mean the scammers are scum of this world so mainly they would grow up to be bums.so hahaha and enjoy your lives as kids you dirty ass scammers cause soon your going to have nothing in your life oh ya the combat the best type of combater is using mage and melee because you can just use ancients to freeze their asses and just use a weapon to do the dirty workbut theres only 3 good concepts to this game making it kinda sucky

I have played for over two years, took about a year break, and started up again recently...It is a very fun game. I love all the skills and quests, and I have also learned to get over the graphics...but the community is the worst...50% are scammers, and the next 45% are rude people...but its a fun game when you and a couple of friends are bored out of their minds during summer. But, I like this game :]

One of the reasons I love playing RS is because it is a pretty good game for something with no mandatory fee. I don't always have time and play and it would seem like my money is just being wasted, that was why I didn't stick around in WoW too long.
And you have to admit, those recent graphical updates are pretty decent for something which is Java based.

The game itself is good and has more content than many other (newer) MMOs.

The problem is the free version and a link on miniclips, if they got rid of those a lot of the retarded 8 year olds would vanish and the community would start to clean up a bit.

Also Runescape is a browser game, WoW is not.  The graphics aren't meant to be amazing, they are designed to get the job done while conserving bandwidth.  Unfortunately the retarded 8 year olds  (who also appear to suffer from extreme A.D.D.) that make up 95% of the community don't understand that.

and about running rs on any computer is bollocks in my experience. the game runs shite even on a high tech PC because its on java or whatever. on my old PC I could rune guildwars without lag, try and run runescape and the game is still as gawd awfull as it in on my other stone age PC. the reason java script sucks is not because the graphics are limited its because it lags like hell and you can't use more than 2 buttons.

yesh I have seen some of the new graphics (they ripped off wow alot), they are good for javascript but thats not an excuse they are still baad inc omparisson to most games.
