A new MMO for PS3 was just announced: Angel Love Online. It's a port of a free PC MMO and highly doubtful to be released outside Japan because it's fully 2-D.

Unless it's been changed recently the Xbox 360 does not support PC mouse devices.

Buy a computer... seriously.

It's kinda expected you get a controller instead of a keyboard and mice. The Amiga days are over...

Did you read the post I made?  The whole premise was that they should include a keyboard and mouse with console systems so that the games can be better done cross platform wise.  I have a computer obviously.  The problem is that controllers are no good for complex MMO systems.  You can plug a 360 controller into your PC, but playing an MMO with a controller is horrible.

Then take your keyboard and plug it into your Xbox 360? also I'm pretty sure in one of the live ads they are adding a xbox360 keyboard for communication, so there ya go.

why would u want to spend all that money for a console, when u can spend that same amount for a computer(and u don't have to waste money on a controller)  and a computer can write ur hw, browse the internet easily, and can balance ur checkbook, and play ur favorite games with a mouse and keyboard.  So why waste money buying a console game if ur just going to play it like a pc anyways?

its not that hard, sites similar to newegg.com sell comp parts pretty cheap, so just buy the parts and put it together, its like legos, of course its hard to get a good pc for 400, but for just like 200 more bucks u can get so much more out of it, and think about it, consoles only stay on top for 2 years max, and then new stuff comes out, pc's can last years, and are much much much cheaper to upgrade, mostly because u usually only ahve to ever replace the video card, or motherboard, or memory(which are all expensive, but u can do it one step at a time)

Actually you would buy the 360 for around 450 for the elite console with the large size hard drive.  You also need a good TV so thats another 500+ dollars right there.  After that you still have to buy all the games which will add up to quite a bit.  You probably could buy a PC and play MMOs for around the same or cheaper.  Of course some of the games are better for console then PC.  The sports games come to mind.  Personally I'd rather have a PC because I can do so many things with it.  If consoles and LCD TVs weren't so expensive right now I would probably buy an xbox360 to play NHL 2008 and Forzna Motor Sport.

I'm not sure where your info comes, but its mostly incorrect. Consoles only stay on top for 2 years max? The Playstation 2 was released in NA in 2000. The Playstation 3 was released in 2006. That would be 6 years, not 2. And aside from that, even to this day there are still a great amount of games being made for the Playstation 2. How many PC games come out today that can run on a 7 year old computer?

There is no way you can get a Computer for the same price as a console that is as good as the console.

QFT. However, you can easily and inexpensively upgrade a pc. Not so much with a console.

One of the big ripoffs of the new generation systems are the hard drives.  The 20 gig hard drive of the xbox360 costs nearly 100 dollars.  The 120 gig hard drive costs around 165 dollars.  You can get PC hard drives of around 500 gig for 100 dollars.

Another big difference is TV cost compared to Monitor cost.  For some strange reason LCD TVs cost a lot more money then LCD Monitors.  Strangely enough these monitors generally have a lower resolution for their size.  For instance I have a 17 inch Computer Monitor and it's capable of 1280x1024.  A monitor that is 26 inch + would have a much higher resolution.  On the other hand TVs have max resolutions of 720p and 1080i.  720p is like 1024x 768 on a PC monitor.  1080i is similar to 1280x1024 on a monitor.  Generally TVs with 1080i are 30 inch + and cost around 1000+ dollars.  20 inch + 720p TVs are around 500 dollars+.  Getting a monitor of the same size for a PC with a higher resolution will be a lot cheaper.  Basically it seems they are charging you a bundle for the HDTV tuner.  It boggles the mind.

While I agree that the console manufacturers are having a 'fun' time overcharging for hard drives, I disagree about LCD monitor costs vs TV's.  Do some actual research before making erroneous statements.  Just recently, I wanted to upgrade my monitor for my gaming PC.  After a lot of research, I bought an LCD TV, NOT a monitor.  I can tell you right now that my gaming experience on a 42" 1080p is just incredible.  For $1000, this is totally worth it.  For the same price, a computer monitor would have higher resolution, but it would be far, far smaller.  1080p resolution is great for everything else I do on my PC too.

I believe it's more dependent on the size of the TV or Monitor.  I was browsing Newegg for a TV, but I didn't bother to look at the 30+ inch TVs as I'm not interested in spending 1000 dollars + for a TV.  If you look at the Monitors and TVs in the 20 inch through 30 inch price range the Monitors are much cheaper and offer a higher resolution.  You can get a 26 inch acer monitor for around 200-300 dollars.  On the flip side any TVs that of that size with a HDTV tuner 720p that are a decent  brand name are 500 dollars minimum.

MMO's are boring as hell on the PC as it is already. Why would you want to ruin consoles with them? Vote:

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO For mmo's on the consoles. MMO's have become nothing but a timesink joke. Please keep them on the PC and off the consoles.

And you sir, are out of your damn mind. I got my olevia 37" HDTV for 820$ and it has 1480/1120 or whatever the widescreen range is, resolution. Doesn't get any better than that. It also supports 1080i and 1080P, so you can get good HDTV's for under 1000$. You just need to know where to look. Tigerdirect.com is a good start.

1) For $40 you can buy a VGA Adapter that runs from your 360 to your LCD Monitor.

2) The new Xbox Elite edition comes with an HDMI port.

3) As others have said you can get a LCD TV for low prices nowadays. I work at Sears (boo) and we sell 1080p LCD Tv's that are 42" for $1200, and Sears is OVERPRICED.

4) It's been said already, but I'm just summarizing. There are USB Ports on the 360. ANY USB Keyboard works with it. Also, with Windows Messenger added to Xbox Live, they put out an awesome little keyboard attachment for controllers. Seen here:

http://www.liveside.net/Images/kip/xboxkbd.png

Anyone who text messages (most of the population these days) can use this little keyboard exceptionally well.

On a side note, I'm mostly looking forward to Age of Conan because one of the earliest Dev Pictures I saw of it had a Dev playing the game using a 360 controller.

The chat pad plugs into the bottom of the 360 controller and works seemless for everything.

1200 dollars is cheap?  I know you can plug the 360 into a monitor with the adapter, but that is not true of the playstation3.  I'm trying to point out that consoles are not really saving you any money.  You are actually likely spending more money on a console when you add up all the games you buy, the TV, and the console all together.

I guess if they made it mandatory to play the MMO then it would be a step in the right direction, but they would still have to remap any controller options to the PC Keyboard and Mouse unless they require the PC user to have a controller.

I do think a good MMO on a console could do a lot to make MMO's even more mainstream.  X360's and PS3's are essential high end PC's right now with good market penetration.  With the right controls/voice options, it's no different from sitting at a PC.  As someone else pointed out, there are several popular MMO's already set to be released on consoles.  I fully expect AoC and The Agency to do quite well on their respective consoles.

In any case, consoles offer a lot of different gameplay that you don't find on the PC.  There are more than enough good games on any one platform to last a long time, but personally, I like having options and variety.  I'm a fan of sports games, japanese style RPG's and more action oriented games that rarely get released on the PC.

As for which is more expensive, I don't know if it makes sense to factor in the cost of the HDTV.  Most people will also be using the HDTV for television and movie viewing.  For that purpose, size is a bigger priority than resolution.
