heh, That Orc choppa harvested the two Priest of Sigma pretty fast in the end of the film clip. On a sidenote I dislike that techno/posh music there was used in the film.

Looks like a good pace of combat. Btw, just for the record, I believe the only good Greenskin is a dead Greenskin. But ... we'll deal with that in February.

You mean the guy who runs around in circles the most wins? How is this not exactly like Warcraft? |

That said WAR isn't WoW-2, it's Warhammer Fantasy Online, TBH, no offence to anyone here and this isn't aimed at anyone, if your trying to compear any game to anyother game IMO your looking for excuses no to play it, each game is it own game and there will be a lot out soon.. WaR may have many nice things going for it, but I am still far from impressed as hyped as it is. |

It doesnt look like WoW, it's just played by wower. As to look WoW pvp looks much better so far. And to those who dont like to move. Moving is a crucial point in any good combat game. And in RL. Moving is a life, standing still is a death... WoW is a good combat game (there are even WoW cybersport tournaments, you know), and WAR... Perhaps it's gonna be good for cocky roleplayers (I really know this type of people - got 10 years pen and paper RPG experience myself), but as to average MMORPG players, they will chose an action... |

Originally posted by hargYes, from the videos so far, WAR's PvP looks far superior to anything out there ATM in the MMORPG realm. People who are testy about spellcasters being stationary while casting just have to look at it in practical terms. Casting spells is a mental task, not a physical one. Casting while running would be the equivalent of doing your taxes while you're flying a plane. Sure, it's not impossible, but you wouldn't be doing an effective job of either doing both simultaneously. Also, heavily armored combatants SHOULD not be hopping around like bunnies. Even as early as pen-and-paper D&D, people clad in plate and heavy mail were encumbered by their armor and could not move as quickly as those clad in cloth or leather. This, on top of the fact that wizards won't be jumping around spamming AOEs and DPS classes won't have get-out-of-jail-free cards like stealth easy button mode ensure that the PvP in WAR should be much more balanced and require a lot more strategy than the current button-mashing and spamming that ensures victory in many of today's titles. |

I didn't realise that the circle strafing in WoW/WAR was looked down upon. I love it! It's like going from an FPS where to guys stand still and fire until one dies as opposed to running around shooting each other. Likewise, I find it boring as fudge when there is no emphasis whatsoever to move, meaning both players stand still and go '2--2--2--3--2-222--2--oh I win'. MEH!
I'm really hoping they don't cripple your ability to hit when you are moving, that seems a bit silly. I want to be running around the place hacking people at 100mph, trying to evade people targeting me, getting behind them out of their FOV. It actually gives you something to DO apart from just pressing number keys. When I played WoW (heh, only got to 35 before I got sick of it) the PvP was always very boring until I saw my mate play it (ie. running about). Suddenly PvP was this fast paced game where you were constantly on the move, running, hitting spells, quickly running out of range, running back in. It was great!
Granted bunny hopping is a bit dumb, but it's not like it makes much difference anyway, so I'll be happy if there is none of that in WAR. But as far as circle strafing, I don't see what's so bad about it.

Duh, never said wow moving is similar to RL. Just said you gotta move not stand still. In RL combat moving is much more sophisticated than in any game - dont tell me this, I know it myself. but in any good combat game you gotta move like this game takes. So in Q3 you gotta move quakish, in UT - utish, in WoW - WoWish. But I havent seen any WARish moving in WAR so far. Or sooner it's standing still that is WARish... |

Hehe, I know what that "positional attack" meant in DAoC. Just the same as I see now in WAR - standing still and shooting/hitting anyone who comes close enough... Especially it was right for casters... More or less. But what is more important WoW moving takes skill. The better you move the more chances you got... like it is in any good combat, virtual or real. |
