This forum''s opinion is worth less than a stray dog crapping in a forest that no one cares about. |
The evil-hearted PK's who are there just to make everyone else miserable. That is why I've decided that when I get the game, to be one of the first anti-PK's on the server. Nothing beats taking away the last breathe of a black-hearted PK thug who more than deserves it. Bwahahahhaha, I love it. I want to start filling the streets with rivers of red PK blood. Screw being a mercenary, I want to be an anti-PK. Oh......the joy of owning the PK's............*sigh of happiness*

Originally posted by yamisniper I really didn't care for this game at first. I heard people tell me "Darkfall is a lot like old-school UO." I am a UO vet, but when I played I was 13 years old, so being PK'd and griefed wasn't a big deal. Now that I'm almost 22, I wonder if I'll still like FFA open PvP. With this doubt if it's a good idea, I decide to not care for Darkfall, and thus not check about its design and features. Time goes by and I hear people praise darkfall. I see the forum icon looks like a desert-gnoll, which I originally thought was an egyptian statue (and thus unappealing) and decide it doesn't look interesting, so who cares. Then I stumble upon the darkfall website and read their features. Oh. My. God. I['ve never been impressed with so many features. Each individual feature made me struck with awe (and lightning). By the end of it all, I was SO impressed, I cannot wait for this game. I don't care about if I'll like FFA open pvp or not, WHO CARES? This game has SO many other features, it would be ridiculous to pass up! Plus I love PvP, and I love PvP in an MMO, so I'll probably LOVE IT!
I hope Darkfall gives out A LOT of advertising before its release, because people need to hear about this "hidden" game. So amazing. |

Well same race griefing will be hard on the greifer with the alignment system they have. If they PK to many of their friendly races than they become a KOS on any npc town and any town that doesnt want murders causing mischief in their town, which seems like most people. |

As long as I've visited this site, I had no interest in even reading about Darkfall. Now that I have, I will definitely be getting this game. Very impressed with what I have read. |

shudder, I've just logged out from a full PVP, role playing PD server. I've never seen anything just so ---- man I just wont say the word lol. everyone trying to act like they're old english or something was funny I was talking to this guy. im thinking to myself, "I wish I could murder this newb." then I look into my inventory and see I got weapons and stuff. sigh, I so wanted to do it but then a guard walks by so I had to keep it coo lol anyway I think Darkfall will be like this. Even though a PKer might be looking at ya contemplating murda he will have to think twice due to alignment, roaming guards, and such. Not to mention it will be a skill based system so no 'conning'. never know- the lil crafter you're thinking bout murdering might also be a master swordsman + wizard |

Grats man, i think you just got the darkfall curse But who dont wanna have that? Symtoms: You have trouble to play another MMO for a while, you spend a stupid amount of time thinking and planning what to do later ingame. But dont worry, its perfectly safe and natural. |

*sigh* we lose many people to the dark fall curse that way... ie a random person says df is gonna be great, someone looks at it and goes to read the site, then out of excitement they read it again, and again, by the time they finish reaing they remember an appointment with a friend in another mmo... he loggs on and is utterly disgusted with not being able to kill anyone he sees. Thus the curse having took its full effect, snuggles nicely in his brain just waiting for him to play another mmo. ..True story. |

Even tho you have a gank-char his/her alligmentsystem will affect your alts and new character. So those who wan't to be an ass has to be an ass all the time. ______________________________ __________________________________

A simple truth-"What people want and what is good for an mmo is not always the same thing"-mrw0lf |

This guy reminds me of Haseo... for the .hack fans out there. Anyway... if you go around calling yourself the police and killing PK'ers... then your not much better then them... your just looking for trouble most the time. With the alignment thing your gonna be viewed a murderer to.... |

I agree with the OP. Open FFSA Pk adds an element to a mmo that most mmo's never have. Randomness. In a pve game I see where the mobs are, they sit there waiting for me to come kill them.... In a OPEN FFA game, its all random and totally awesome! |

Lineage 2 is a lot different from DF system. At all times in DF you can be killed and dry looted. Your friend can cast an AOE, you pass out, and your friend can rob you blind. The alignment system is merely a tool to communicate to other players 'you are a PKer'. They will still have to self regulate the justice system. Now the one assumption or liberty I make in regards to Darkfall is the guards. They imply you can have roaming guards that protect your lands. I am unclear how 'big' this border is. I suspect the guards may possibly roam the enttire lands you own and can be instructed to spot a villian. At very least, they will be an 'alarm' system so, DF is way, way more complex then L2. It is more logicial. In L2 you dont have to fight back and keep your loot. In DF- if misfortune strikes you'll be looted but- because they 'imply' a local governing body I suspect it will be very safe for crafters.
I think this is perfect and more akin to real life. it should be hella hard to gank a Crafter and take all of their goods. This is very different system from UO- in which was 100% freeform and 100% player regulated. (edit- ya I know in UO you are fairly safe in town but what I am saying DF allows you to create a real town and create a real police body) we'll have to see how far they take it but I suspect they are trying to implement a full blown government system which has never been done before. |
