I used to play Darktide (the pvp server) but the day they put player housing into the game the server was RUINED.
Here is why: Guilds would "live" in a town or at a life stone before housing. My guild and your guild could have a war and we would "camp" the other guilds life stone until we were driven away. We would also raid their towns and dungeons, but life stone wars were the ultimate form of guild vs guild combat. If we were camping your life stone all day and night for a week your guild was probably done for...... But with stupid housing there are invincible barriers and everyone in the damn guild can recall to the guild house ! this totally ruined the game as I said. Now there are no battles between guilds, because now the guild "lives" behind an invincible barrier that keeps them completely safe from attack. am I missing something? Or did they put invincible guild barriers into the best PVP game of all time FOR NO REASON other than to destroy it...... and then refuse to remove them. I mean really.... every old Darktide player begged and begged for these to get taken out after they went in. When weeks and months passed and they remained we all just slowly quit...... The entire game went down the tubes with this one minor alteration that obviously didn't get thought through properly. The refusal to undo the change is what really never made sense with me. We obviously played the game and paid you to do so because we enjoyed it. How could you just flip it on it's head like that and feel justified doing it? The ability for one guild to attack another guild seems pretty freakin critical to a "PVP" game that is STILL hailed as having "BEEN" on of the best pvp games in its 'PRIME". News flash.... the prime they are talking about was building up and up and up RIGHT until housing barriers got added and then it fell flat on it's face and landed on a rusty spike. |

They need to wipe the server and remove housing barriers. Then I'd start up AC again along with about 5 friends..

Because game developers always add content that makes no sense and to screw over the entire player base?
Or perhaps...they did this in response to a larger number of players who did not want to find you camping their life stone all day and night for a week until their guild was probably done for...... Almost all of your posts recently seem to imply that you enjoy inflicting pain on other players, that you perhaps enjoy griefing them to the point that they no longer want to play the game. Ask yourself, is this really a good goal? While you say this is your type of game, I'm willing to bet your playstyle is such that you have rarely been the victim of griefing, you always make sure you have superior numbers or level advantages to make sure you always "win". No one who supports FFA Pvp with full looting ever comes on and says... boy, I sure had a great time getting ganked the other night and losing all my gear. They always tout how much fun they had smacking down someone else. Trouble is...the victims refuse to play...they have choices now, (unlike back in early days of AC/UO) and they vote with their wallets. So I suppose the reason they won't remove this restriction now is they feel they'll lost more of their current player base than gain from people like you coming back. |

It definitely was not in response to a larger number of players desires. The population recoiled in horror and died in a closet somewhere after this change.
And I only want to inflict pain on people who think they can inflict it back on me better. That was the entire point of this ultra harsh PVP only server with item looting. It was a big gang war... and I certainly didn't have the number advantage. I never joined blood and always fought against them. Blood was the "zerg" guild that people who wanted safety joined. It's a little bit like I am a UFC fighter and you are asking me why I'm always talking about inflicting pain on other people. I very much want an MMO that is COMPETITIVE in a player vs player way. Most MMOs that are popular right now like WOW and LOTRO are NOT competitive at all. You can't "inflict pain" on another person because the rules of the game simply do not LET you do this. I hate that type of game. They made PvP into battlegrounds where the losers get nearly 100% as much "bonus honor" as the winners! It's all voluntary... and it's all bland. Notice in "THE REAL WORLD" we live in a strong well armed person can easily kill a defenseless unarmed person. Great... they got "ganked" and it was "unfair" who should they go cry to? I like games with this feature as part of the game. It's realistic. You have to behave as you would in the real world. You need to surround yourself with strong allies and make good friends who you trust with your life. you need to travel in packs and work as a unit. there isn't anything BAD about it. I just like tactical realistic games with PVP that has negative consequences for the loser...... but YOU make me out to sound like a asshole because I want to play a game like that instead of a hug each other and have a fashion show so we can demonstrate how proud we are to have PVEed 18 hours a day for 9 weeks. We each have our preferred game, but you have about 50 options to play like that and I have none that are like I desire. You are right about people voting with their wallets....... but if a game company would just give us the CHANCE to cast that vote it would be nice. AC 1 did.... and a lot of us payed, but they suddenly ruined the game as I described above years into our paying them to play on it they fundamentally changed it so it was no longer a fun game. They added housing barriers..... that was the end of the guild wars and that was the end of PVP in general. Towns were all ghost towns with tumbleweeds after that...... the game was over. How is that people voting with their wallets? No one requested it, no one liked it..... they did poll and vote after vote and everyone said they hated it and it needed to be changed. I'm not even close to making this up. The backlash was HUGE over housing barriers. The problem was that we represented a 'small" % of the total players and so we got totally ignored. A smart game designer will come to realize soon enough that even tho we are a small % .... theres 8 million people playing WOW ... if you can take 2% of that it's more then enough to populate an entire PVP oriented server... and if you want that extra money you will make a server like that, if you don't want that extra money you don't make one like that my suggestion was simple . Take the barriers down of darktide. So many people quit who might return .... it would be unquestionably worthwhile. P.S. I don't want full looting. I like AC1's item drop system far more than any other option. After that option I would prefer a partial loot system like you get ONE item at random from their bag.... after that I would prefer FULL loot and then finally last would be a system without any item looting in PVP. And yes..... I DO hear a TON of people constantly reminiscing about how awesome AC 1 was, how much fun it was, how crazy it was to sweat bullets over PVP......Look at the reply where the guy said he would bring his 5 friends back if barriers went down and a new Darktide started up. Theres TONS of people out there like him..... do you REALLY think we all never died in pvp because we constantly rolled around with gank squads? Maybe , just maybe, we simply know that we like games that are slightly more hardcore, and we sometimes win and we sometimes lose.... but we always have fun. |

The problem was due to AC not having a storage system/banking system other then using your mule character to hold stuff for you. On the Non pvp server housing and later mansions were fine. But on DT it destroyed the world conflicts that occured 24/7 in towns/lifestones/dungeons. Now they were buffbots on dt along with safe zones. The begining of the end.
I think its funny how the devs ignored dt players and continued to cater to the non pvp servers and now currenlty Darktide is by fae there most populate server. Although 400 people online isnt much its usually 2x as much as the non pvp servers in AC nowdays.
