As it says I'm about to start my free trial but would like to know what people think is the best class and race for me.
I have played a warrior and magic in untold games From Mir Lineage 1,2 FFXI the list goes on what I am looking for is to be able to play as a group also when in the mood to be able to go off Soloing I like magic users as well as The hunter looks like a nice class but the information isn't that great I would like 3 suggestions for both alliance and horde as i understand you can't have both on the same account and I can't see my self always wanting to be a druid nor wanting to be a paladin not saying i wouldn't want to be either just none all the time. What would be nice is 1 good Solo Class for them days you just want to be alone 1 good melee class and a spell caster class not sure how many you can have but if it's more than 3 a good healing class and last of all a good all rounder it's been a while since i did PvP so I wont be starting on the PvP server till i get to grips with the control system. so if you can list the class by style and there pro's and con's I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

It's pretty strait forward if I were you I would go warrior, mage, then priest. Ofcourse a priest can be an offensive spell caster and a healer depending on how you spec. A warrior gets boring fast and a mage might satisfy your casting needs. If you want to cast and attack well then pic a hybrid class like a druid or shaman, warriors get no magic what so ever.
If your goign to pvp at all start on a pvp server you won't actually start fighting in world pvp till later on so there's no point in leveling twice.
Best of luck. |

Originally posted by DoomLord You can make all of those types on the same server. On PVE servers you can have both Horde and Alliance characters, on PVP servers just one side. For soloing you really can't beat a Hunter or Warlock. Pet classes with nice DPS but for endgame PVP and PVE Warlock has the edge generally. Melee, I'd go with a Warrior so you can understand their strengths and weaknesses when groupwed with them and to have the ability to do well in PVP and tank in PVE. A good healer and all around is Druid, generally speaking.. just spec the right way and get some gear and you can be a rogue, tank, healer (druids are great healers with combat rez) and with the balace tree a caster of sorts. pew pew |

I've played a hunter, and druid so far in WoW. I would suggest that you play a druid because that's what I'm playing at present. Druids are generally good characters all-round. There a cross between a warrior and priest (i.e., their good fighters, healers and can cast spells). I'm having fun playing a Night Elf druid, once you get to level 10 you can shape-shift into a bear. I personally believe WoW is the best MMORPGs out there. Hope this helps. |

I would suggest that you play a Hunter or Mage as a new player. Both are easy to solo and learn. Casting: Mage Range: Hunter/Mage Hybrid: Druid If you want to group and have options, the Druid is a good choice.
Stay away from rolling a Priest. They really aren't that good at low levels and Shaman/Paladins/Druids are better healers. (I have both a level 70 Druid and Priest, as well as 70 Mage).

My two cents, I'm a leve 68 Druid. It's my favorite class because you can do so much. I just got bird form and can fly anywhere in Outland. It's an absolute blast. Unfortunately my guild will only let me raid if I go feral a be a tank for them. I got so mad I left my guild after 2 years. Guilds get very chosey when it comes to end game. If you want to deal the most damage and use majic, be a mage, plain and simple. |

Hey ya,
Hope you enjoy your free trial. FIgured I would post a little bit about hunters as i have played them a ton and just recommend a couple things. Before I start, I dont know everything there is to know, all this is my opinion and nothing more and Im sure the other folks here might have more to add about hunter builds. I have played a few different races as hunters and found Orcs to be an excellent race choice horde side. I personally play an Orc hunter with a cat pet, use guns and he is a miner/engineer. I specced him beastmaster just to try it out and love what I get.
My first character was a Tauren hunter that was marksman and had a bear. He was a leatherworker. For me, I got bored with him. The orc, I have yet to do so.
Beastmaster has some nice bonuses to pets as well as to you via a small health bonus plus a couple of marksman bonuses.
Not sure how familiar you are with the game, but you wont need to worry about spec points or pets till level ten. I recommend if you play an orc to learn guns and stick with axes as your weapons. Pets...kinda depends on what you want. Cats are for dps, bears for tanking as well as turtles... petopia.com for any info about pets. Your also gonna need to learn new attacks and petopia will tell you what to train at what level. Hunters are a great solo class and also great for pvp. So many ways you can go with this so enjoy it and have fun. Hope this post was helpful. |

Melee class: I'd suggest a druid with a feral spec. It's a relatively simple class for a newcomer to pick-up for PvE play, although can get complex in PvP. When soloing or dpsing in a group you will use your cat form, whilst you will also be capable of tanking in bear form without a respec. Feral druids also solo well. Healer: Start with a priest. They are the best healing class at low levels and have the largest variety of healing spells All-rounder: Try Shaman. They can dish out pretty good DPS and also heal when needed. They can tank at low levels and in small groups of 2-3 players. Spec your shaman for DPS and your priest for healing. If you get them both to max level then swap the specs around, since Shamen are good at healing endgame and DPS specced priests are welcomed for their utility. Avoid hunters - too many new players play hunters and don't have a clue. Don't roll a hunter until you have seen what a good hunter can do in an instance. Consider - warlocks - a DPS caster with excellent soloing skills. |

Soloing in WoW is incredibly easy as any class. So id just say pick the one you like the idea of the best, read up a little bit about it, pick a race that you like the look of too. as for specs, you can reset it for a handful of gold, so dont worry about that at first, until you have a bit of a feel for them. Most classes can be effective with any spec, as far as i know, so its not like you will end up unable to be useful. Just dont spread it through all the branches |

I've played every class in WOW...and got 5 of them up to 60 before I quit. Each one had their strengths and weaknesses but I enjoyed playing them all (well, not so much the Pally). Every class can easily solo to 70..... but not every class can easily find a group. So much really depends on how you plan to play WOW and your end game goals. If you plan to participate in the end game PVE raiding, then you want to be careful what you play since your role will be pretty much determined for you by your guildmates. However, if you really are playing just to level up some characters and perhaps join in the Battlegrounds/Arena PVP then you can pretty much play any class/spec you'd like. If grouping while leveling is important to you, then consider playing a Warrior or Priest...always a shortage of them and they rarely want for a group. That said...all classes are useful in groups...but some have too many players (Hunters, Rogues) so there's more waiting around to get in a decent group or guild even. Some classes are less played.....Locks usually are appreciated and are great soloing and in PVP......(this may not still be true these days...I left WOW about 9 months ago)

On the topic of class-desirability: Lack of class desirability in MMOs can be mitigated by good social skills, party organization and having a good reputation. It's rare in WoW that you'll hear "LF1M, Hunter!", but that doesn't mean you can't have a healthy instance-running time. If you're in a good guild, and you have those aforementioned skills, then you'll be fine getting instances no matter what your class. If you lack a certain social grace, the more desirable classes can mitigate your awkwardness :) That's my theory anyway. Choosing the 'right' class for you in MMOs can often make or break the entire experience of that game. That's the downside to class-based games I suppose. Though skill-based games kinda have the same kind of 'roles', to pigeon hole people into too. Anyway, getting a bit off topic here :) Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting... |

Go ahead and quit WoW because it sucks. Just wait for Warhammer or Age of Conan or Priates of the burning sea. Don't waste your money. Kick to the Face. |

Don't worry about screwing up your build. WoW is very forgiving. You can respec at any time. There's a fee attached to respeccing and it increases the more times you do it up to a maximum of 50 gold I think. I've seen people respec their toons literally dozens of times. So your best bet is to simply play a couple classes and do your best with the speccing until you are at least a bit familiar with the class, skills, tree etc. Only then will you be able to decide what you like best about a class and spec him to your taste. No one can tell you the best way to spec your character without you know yourself what it is you like to do with that character and you won't know that untill you play enough to find out. |
