Well as someone who isn't a hardcore PVPer but enjoys it alot I'll go with the following. 1) DAOC 2) Guild Wars 3) Lineage II I'm others have their favs but these are the standouts for me. Dutchess Zarraa Voltayre |

I'd cast my vote for Guild Wars... At level 20 its all about skill based arenas

Guild Wars - you can make a max level 20 toon at game start then jump right into the action. Guild vs Guild and small scale wars is the downside. No open PVP if you like that. But still it was very fun
City Of Heroes - lol, this is a PVE MMO yo. But still I had many good times in it. The travel powers are fun and the difference between a long term player and a newbie wasnt too awful. But ya not all that great EVE - Very fun but uses a Time based progression which has its own ups and downs. also its point and click. Still heavily strategic and there are big battles. I've been playing this a lot lately
-------- None of those can touch an FPS though when it comes to raw player skill. Been wanting to try AC1 Darktide one day. But alas, I dont really feel like trying to catch up to the vets. |

sorry to add to the list:
Starport - still one of my favorite atm. Open PVP, serious death penalties, 100% persistant. Can takeover planets, etc. Really tough game I really liked it UO - pre-trammel was good. open PVP, serious death penalty, looting, etc.
as you can see I have a fairly diverse list I guess I'll play anything- 2D or 3D. as long as the gameplay is good |

I like Shadowbane PVP. Even though it's just your original point and click game with bad graphics, the purpose of the PVP makes it fun. Most good skills are based on building stuff and taking over cities. The banes are what made it really fun even though it was just a point and click, shadowbane showed that you can make an mmorpg fun just with out of the box orginal ideas. It was really fun to log in with your guild and hundreds of people battling over mines and cities. |

I beleive WoW, with its versitile pvp system for all levels, has the greatest PvP so far. Once teh destructible enviroments come out, it will be even better. |
