Here are some of the after acrtion reports from players during the last event ' The Last Stand' :
With Deitrich MIA Kitty put me in charge of the German 1st Squad. In it I had Adorno, d0enitz, Dover, Linush, Spyr0x and Zype, all with rifles. We quickly formed up by the bunker then into vonxoom's truck, then halfway down the road into Miller6's truck, then back again. We got our orders to take the western port area, then our objective was the western side of town around the western AB. Vonxoom's truck took us all the way around and deposited us on the eastern road.
We set off with Xoomxoom's squad, keeping our distances, encountering no enemies. When we finally meet the empty zone at the edge of town Xoomxoom takes a volley from an LMG on the south-east corner of town. With Knife00's panzer moving forward and gunfire pouring in, I just told the squad to move all the way into town as fast as possible.
We make it inside the buildings, encountering no one inside. As we made our way around the square building on the south-east corner of town we hear more gunshots and another man goes down, stuck in claustrophobic quarters the squad starts to scatter to get a bearing on the hidden British soldiers. I tell everyone to wait for Knife's tank as it rolled forward, then moved us further westward. Somewhere along the line Adorno is lost, didn't realise that until later.
I was keen to get us into the centre of the city, where I expected resistence to lighten, but fell upon another pocket of defence right in front of us, a third LMG. The presence of Knife's panzer did little to deter the rifle and LMG fire, although he must have downed a few of them. D0enitz took a hit and then a moment later so did Dover. Spyr0x was already in the buildings north of us and I'd hit a dead end, so I told Zype to just head north out of the rut.
I stupidly sprinted across the open courtyard, zig-zagging, but was shot down. Last I heard Zype was the only survivor of squad one, moving with squad 4 to their objective...or perhaps just following the sound of gunfire.
No idea how the tide of battle is going.
Gnpatton - Allied side leader.
Our forces consided of 3 well fit squads and 2 multicrewed a13s. I sent 1 squad to each side of town and ordered each squad to send out a scout.
The W side of town had great cover and Faltnor setup with his squad there. The S side of town had no cover, I immediatly realized that the enemy wouldn't attack from there, as the approach was horrid. The second squad was stationed there non the less, with liluh as the lead. The East approach I almost didn't bother guarding. I did however put squad 3 there.
The tanks were stationed on the W side and the S side.
The first contact was a pz3 way far SW that I was able to spot. Too far out to do anthing. Also the JU's showed up early, so I decided to keep my tanks hidden.
When the east side started getting infantry and tank contacts, I gave them a rally point which was a fallback point. They stood their ground for a bit, and then I told them to fallback. The south squad I ordered to move more East to help with a fallback line. Again the enemy pushed the original squad, they took some and gave some. The tank was becoming a problem. I then ordered the 3rd squad into the AB near them. This would require the infantry and tank to cross a major road going N and S. The plan, was to setup an a13 watching that road as the tank crossed. It worked, that tank died, then shortly afterwards the a13 was JU'ed. Purpose served.
The enemy infantry kept the push on the AB, so I sent squad 2, which was S of them, and had seen no action on a loopty loop around the enemy. They even went around the disabled tank! Their rear attack worked great, and the enemy was completely destroyed.
Around this time the W side was being hit. I sent my a13 up to some trees to give cover. The attack was mediocure, and squad 1 was able to handle it. The axis tank was spotted early and our tank was able to kill it. The JU tried to bomb our a13 but the small bombs didn't do any good. I could have ordered squad 2 into the fight, but I figured that we were winning on the W side. I also didn't send them because of the scenario, as we were suppose to evacuate after 2 hours. Having been 2 hours, I ordered everyone into the ports for a pretend evacuation. We had no freighter so the event just kinda ended.
Cheers,
Gnpatton
I leaded the Stuka Squad, acutally only 2 Stukas, me and killa345 with vondain as multicrew.
we started from Lille, climbed to altitude and reached target (ill not write the AI story here :=) ), we tried to spot the enemy on several dives over the city, but we couldnt find any.
And then, after a long long time, we discovered that flying max max takes a lot of fuel
so we throttled down, and after some more minutes with no enemy we landed in a field, i mean, i landed, the other stuka flipped over and was out of the game : (
Then Finally Enemy were reported, i lifted again and truely there was an a13, and BAM there goes to 250kg bomb on his head. Later i got the kill on the a13, but at that moment i thought he is still alive cause he was still firing.
After that Pillbox messaged that stukas have to start their sirens during bombing dives. Ok no refueling or rearming, but sirens
Later another a13 showed up, and on additional 4 dives ( all with siren
) i droped one 50kg bomb after another on him.
Fuel was running low, no bombs left, and the mg rounds counter also is coming close to 0.
And then, unbelivable, during a strafe over some bushed, i got plinked by an ei, just one plink.... and i was leaking oil.
so with 0 bombs 0 ammo and 5% fuel left, i landed in a field again.
But then the Tailgunners ammo jumped in my mind and i tried to lift again, but after 3 seconds the engine said "bye-bye". So i opened the cockpit hatch and enjoyed the countryside 8)
Very nice event, but some reality is missing
Squad 2 moved to the south of town. Liluh our CO spread is2hot4u, vandoon, piran, shorty1, nova, vllc, and perales about 300m S from town along a wide front. He sent me 1km SW of town to scout.
We waited for around 15 minutes before we heard a pz moving SW. The pz 3 and an opel moved up to the road. I lay low, waiting for signs of enemy infantry.
Suddenly an mg34 opened up west of me. My squad mates hit the deck. Liluh ordered me to pull back across the 1km of open ground. As i reached the road, I saw an ei rifleman on a berm. I got permission from liluh to open fire, and took my shot from 200m away. I got a hit, then retreated full speed back to Dunkirk.
The battle raged all around us, but squad 2 saw little action. We saw squad 3 taking a beating from a pz3 and 2 ei squads. An a13 at our position hit the panzer in the flank and killed the gunner and took out his engine, before a stuka dived on him and destroyed it with a direct hit. Gnpatton ordered us round to flank the squads hitting squad 3.
Unfortunately we couldnt reach squad 3 in time. We ran into a number of ei in some buildings. liluh and vllc took out an ei, and we raced to defend our ab.
As we reached the AB i killed an ei sniping from ontop of a roof. We secured the AB, then got orders to retreat to the docks.
As we started to pull back, liluh fell over and banged his head (CTHL) and with his last concious thought made me CO. My squad was already confident enough to move out, so we reached the evacuation point in record time. We secured it, before finding out that no transport ships were on the way to help us. Damn navy boys *shakes fist*.
Today I participated in the event LAST STAND. It was an excellent event. Our squad leader was not present so I took charge as well as members from two other SAS squads as my XOs. We were given the South East sector of Dunkirk to guard. We were hit first and hit hard as we were up against about twenty enemy soldiers and a tank with a resupply truck in tow.
We first got to our designated area to find that there was no cover available to us. I positioned my squad inside of the buildings and spread them out as best I could. I made a decision to pull back my scout and go out myself as I was the only one equipped with binoculars.
There was no good position in town from which I could view the battlefield and so I pushed out to one of the few bush lines and waited. I first had audio contact with an Opel and a Panzer. A lengthy stretch of time passed before the first enemy infantry were spotted. They came in two waves followed by the panzer. At the initial assault we returned fire but quickly realized we would be overrun so the order was given to fall back.
My squad began a fighting retreat to the city center and we lost one man in the process. After the enemy had pushed in I began to make my way toward town in an attempt to regroup with my squad. On my way in, I spotted the opel moving in to resupply the panzer. I waited until the panzer had pushed farther into town and engaged the opel, killing the driver.
I entered town, taking cover amongst the buildings, hoping to strike at the german line that was closing around my men. I was killed before reaching them, the cause of my death is not known.
My squad took a few more casualties and was ordered to fall back to the army base. Once there, they fought to the last man and were quickly overwhelmed.
It is regrettable that we were not able to survive the length of the battle but we managed to inflict serious damage on the attacking force before they reached the rest of our defending forces. The men that fought with me deserve high honors for their actions. We were informed to late into the engagement that we would not be receiving the Troop Transports for evacuation as we had previously been told at the start of the event.
This report will be amended once the final outcome has been determined.
