Well i tried to go back to the game on the trial just to take a look at it.

Launchpad keeps dropping out 4 TSRs and not a single one could help me and OMFG there english is atrocious despite names like Ken and Gregg.

Does anyone actually run vista and has SWG working.

They did actually help you.  I logged into the current vet trial, the first time I've been in the game in over a year, and it is horrible.  The current version of SWG is quite honestly the worst MMO I've ever played.  I didn't think it could possibly be worse than it was when I originally quit, but SOE has actually managed to do the impossible.  I won't be logging in again for the remainder of my trial, since I don't feel I've ever done anything bad enough to justify subjecting myself to the current game.  If any game ever needed a complete revamp, it is the current version of SWG.

I am completely dumbfounded that there are people who are willing to pay money to play this game.

I think Rubies of Eventide is the worst MMO ive ever played. But SWG NGE, doesnt come far infront...

Ive had quite a few problems with Luanchpad and Vista. As I recall, with EQ2, the "play" button doesnt appear, with Planetside it wouldnt patch completely and with vanguard I just get a outright crash. As far as I recall, I fixed the planetside launchpad by reinstalling (on my vista hdd instead of xp) and then giving admin permission on the entire sony folder.

Failing that, have you tried Searching the official forums?

Microsoft should use Vista's incompatibility  with SOE's MMOs as a product feature.  It would be the only positive Vista currently has over XP.

It took me about 2 hours before I could log in the first time and try the Free trial. I kept getting an error message saying my Direcx file was missing.

After trying a ton of things, I found a posting that identified the problem. Apparently my Logitech Quikcam cant work with SWG which is ridiculous. I had to unplug the webcamera, delete the program, go into regedit, reinstall direcx, wipe my video drivers and reinstall them as well.

I have never had any problems with a dozen other mmo's with this camera.

I was able to get it working with Vista back in May...  It's a simple fix really but I don't remember what I did or how I did it...  The game is a pile of crap lol, I too can't believe people actually PAY for it.

Battlefronts is a LOT better .

Odd, I've been running vista and haven't had any issue with SOE games. I'm sure the CS guys you tried to talk to suggested making sure all of your drivers are up to date, right?

I always found SOE's customer service to be good and they always helped me withing 30 mins.

Hey Smed, why did you guys delete all but one of your posts on the official SOE forums?  The only post left is your promise not to revamp Vanguard, because you guys learned your lesson from the dismal failure of the NGE.

I'm completely dumbfounded that we keep reading lies from people who try to mislead others, even more then SOE ever has done.

Its not really Microsofts responsibility to update SoE's software so its compatible. The problem is that SoE just doesnt seem to care about Vista.

You want to go to the SWG Icon on your desktop or toolbar or whatever you have it under and right click on it and go down to Properties. Open that up and go to Compatibility and go down to the box that says "Run this Program as an Adminstrator" Click the box next to it, it should open up and load up fine.

And really as for the TRS's and CSR's most right now are not given everything they should need to know about Vista. Mostly due to the fact that Vista has just come out, and most people are still running XP. We had the same kinda thing back in 2001/2002 with XP, as most where still running Windows 98SE with EQ and even UO (the UO Third Dawn Client Software did not like XP at all) and it took sometime for all the kinks to get worked out.

On that note Vista really isn't that bad, it's just new. And remember XP wasn't the greatest when it first came out, it did take about 8 months to really get XP good. But hey so far Vista works fine for me, and works fine with my Xbox 360 and Zune.

I had no problem logging into the game on four different accounts. On the account that had my jedi my second character that was a shipwright/weaponsmith before the nge and has never been logged in after the nge is now a lvl 1 commando. I had another account that was an architech/armorsmith pre nge and has not been in since they announced the nge is now a lvl 90 trader. There were acually two people from my friends list on though they were more contacts that I bought or sold from than friends. They may have also been the only other people on Naritus last night since they were the only ones that came up when I searched.

It's not the game that I played and I'm not sure that it's a game that I really ever want to play. I'm going to try to keep an open mind during the 21 days but it's not going to be easy.

Like I said, I have to REALLY try to even stomach SWG now...  I refuse to spend time or money on something that just isn't fun.  I think most agree with me.  I had a lot more fun playing freaking WoW than I do this now...

Nah we're creating a NGE for Vanguard along with the new trial starter island in November! Look forward to playing Vanguard in the near future

when they told me roll back my graphics drivers to a forceware version that is only 2000/xp compatible despite me mentioning the word vista a million times i just gave up aint even gonna bother taking a look at the rehashed crap theyve put back into a crap game when there CS is as atrocious as ever.

One area where SOE has been unflinchingly consistent is in their terrible customer service.
