A right move did by Funcom but release date is pretty close to WAR Online. Year 2008, year of MMO, sequel to year 2004. |

Isn't this the 3rd time the release date has been backed up? I see that AoA beta2 has also been delayed.... |

Why do people think WAR is going to make its timeframe? Sure, its just a WoW clone to its core with Warhammer names slapped on, but I don't see it releasing in the next 6 months either. PotBS? Different style of game, no a direct competitor to AoC in my opinion. Gods & Heroes? I forsee..... mid 2008 for it as well at the earliest. BTW, I'm no AoC fanboy, I just call it like I see it. Better to give more time for a better release than to try to rush one out the door (See AO's launch). |

gaute godager learned the hard way. never ever ever ever ever ever release an mmo unless you are absolutely, 100% positive that the game is ready. he went thru HELL with anarchy online's launch and caught hell for the decisions he made back then.
its refreshing to see, he learned from his mistakes. i think hed rather sever his own reproductive organs than blow the launch of this game.
cant say as i blame him, i remember falling thru the ground in omni ent and my character being stuck "in the world" for a week before they could fix it and when they did, i couldnt zone into omni forest anyway because well... omni forest was broken too.
bravo gaute. you learned from your mistakes. |

DOOM!!! DOOM I SAY!! Seriously though, whatever game you're super duper excited about either has been or will be delayed at some point. It's the nature of MMOs.

Yea planned to get AoC before WAR but now the chance that i buy AoC is slim, unless WAR is a big flop. But still it is a good decision. The MMO scene is quite harsh and if you release a game to soon people will dump it in the trash and never pick it up again even if you make it good. MMO's Played: 20 , Closed Beta: 9 , Open Beta: 3 , Currently:Warhammer Beta |

I almost cried, but at least I know they have a reason for it. In fact I bet this is to make sure the PC and 360 titles both launch together. Good thing I just got into LOTRO, it'll be away till I dive into the sweet world of AoC. :(

I haven't posted in a while. Mostly because I've just not had anything new to say in a long time, I'm just one of the many guys sitting around waiting for something new and actually engaging to play. I'd like to call on all developers to stop setting "tentative" release dates. We're not stupid. Most of us have been around the block long enough to realize these bogus release dates are just there to maintain the HYPE level long enough to set it back again..and again...until your actually ready to release the game. How many times FUNCOM, have you set back the date? How MUCH longer do you plan on playing the HYPE game? Your credibility has been reduced to nothing in my eyes. I WILL NOT BUY YOUR GAME ON LAUNCH. You'll have to prove to me through the people that are going to play it that it is worth buying now, because I (and I'm sure others as well) no longer trust you. ..................................... ...but time flows like a river... ...and history repeats... -Leader of "The Fighting Irish" in DAoC on Hib/Kay- |

This game IMO will most likely fail. I don't think I will even try this game anymore after the delay even if it is successful (highly doubt it). WAR is the future for MMOs and since both of their release dates are quite similar, majority of people will most likely pick WAR instead, and I will most definately be a part of that majority of people. |

March 08?! Screw that. Looks like I'm breaking down and buying an xbox 360, because their ain't shit to play on PC these days. Every mmo out there is derivative and under developed. I got away from console games because they weren't challenging anymore, but maybe XBox Live will make it worth it. I'll have to look into it. This is Ri-God-Damn-Diculous. |

I think, from a marketing perspective, this is going to shoot Funcom in the foot. Now instead of having a good 6 months of being in the public before WAR hits, it will now be playing catchup with WAR and the WoW expansion. Not smart, not good. On the other hand, we all want a bugless polished game. Good, in that respect. Overall, though, since I am a consumer, the first point wins. My wallet governs what I buy and I don't like to buy 3 games at once. Come on WAR! |

Honoestly I dont think the delay will have that much of an affect on how much of a player base they will get on release, sure theres a few of the people who cry because it got pushed back, WoW got pushed back time and time and look at them now. Delaying the release is something that has always happened and if it in any way affects your choice on playing the game then you really need to rethink your video game priorities Mess with the best, Die like the rest |

Originally posted by elocke Given the length of Blizzard's development times I highly highly HIGHLY doubt the expansion will be out in 6 months. Speaking of Blizzard...all of the times they pushed back release really killed their subscription base too, hunh? Consistently, gameplay wins customers. WoW has some fun gameplay--not revolutionary--but fun. And so people play it. They may try other games but they go back. Same thing with CoH/CoV. People play for as long as the gameplay is fun. After it's all said and done, people are gonna stick with whatever new releases give them the best time. And to all of you reading a frikking MMO news site saying "I won't try this game now," I call you a liar. Either lying to yourself or lying to whine about yet another game that *SURPRISE SURPRISE* pushes back a release date. It hovers some neat little carrots in terms of gameplay in front of our faces and we are silly little donkeys that want to taste any carrot that comes our way. Quit acting like muppets and find something else to do/play and regardless of whether you get it at release or a year after, you'll try it out because the old systems will start to feel old or a hundred other reasons. Then there'll be another game after Conan and on and on ad infinitum. |

I saw this coming. They weren't even close to having a public closed beta let alone an open beta. But to push this back all the way to march!? thats a bit much. |

Weren't they just saying a few weeks ago that they "didn't have any reason to push the release date back?" |
