I don't understand how anyone could be surprised about this, the writing has been on the wall for long time now. Srsly, 3 months for release and no pvp vid..c'mon. Still, march? PvP must suck big time to need 6 months to fix it. This is a great thing IMHO. |

And yes, the delay suggests that the game needs more work, what a surprise. It also suggests that the dev team are willing to take the time to deliver a complete product rather than rushing out a piece of crap. This is a particularly stupid argument on your part, since you were just complaining not long ago that the game didn't look finished. No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee. |

Well I did see this coming. I even mentioned how it's going to be pushed back due to lack of PvP and Raids. I think I'm going to have to wipe this off of my list now, because between WAR and AoC around the same time. . .I only have time and money for one. Unless WAR delays and gives me a chance to play AoC. I guess we'll see. 1999 - Current UO veteran |

Why is a delay in release a bad thing when a game is in beta? Ever? Oh, so you don't get to play the game for a few more months. Deal with it. Pushed back release dates mean the developers found a rather large problem with the game and they feel it's crucial to the success of the game to get it fixed. From one of the OP's quoted posts, Funcom decided to push it back because they were getting a good number of complaints about the combat system being too hard to grasp. Frustration leads to people not playing the game. And it sounds like this was a huge frustration. Casual gamers make up the majority of an MMO's player base. It's just a fact of life in this industry. Personally, I applaud Funcom for listening to it's beta testing player base, seeing there is a problem and pushing back the release to make sure this problem is fixed. It shows how much they've grown up since the beta of Anarchy Online.
I half expected it to get pushed back, it's nice to see them give an explanation of it. |

The las t time they delayed it I was so angry, now the only thing I can say is, HELL!
Plus, it now makes it a 1 year and a half delay. So when will the 360 version will come out? After the new xbox will be release? In a period of approx 3 motnh or less, there will be a WoW Wrath of the lich king, a WAR and a AOC release. Wich is not good for FunCom cause they are surely gonna loose this fight, both WoW and WAR are most anticipated for sure. I'm gonna play it anyway, hell, it's so good.

I'm glad it's being held up until...whenever. I just wish Funcom was more truthful earlier. Many have been saying this would happen and Funcom denied it until now... a few months before launch. This is the 2nd time they have done the last minute launch pushback . I think this calls into question some of the production leadership ,who can't seem to get it finished and done well.
Time to revisit the game in 7-8 months and see what the launch date is then. |

I think its kinda funny to see how many MMO developers just can't get it done. The whole industry is a joke, more missed release dates, unstable releases, companies going under. Its a huge mess. Waiting for a new MMO has to be the most colossal waste of time. -Alegria |

Could be worse, might be like L3 where they say they will let the public know in 2011 that they are making a game. |

Originally posted by Azanusonlol I will remember you that when war suffers a delay too
Anyway, I was expecting this, october is too close and lot of people was complaining about the game, combat system, and other things, lot of people (I supose also developers) says that the game was not ready at all, and, some war-fanbois cryes about the animations and other things like unfinished pvp or effects. Think this is good cause they need time to improve the game instead of get the "christmas market", hope this serves to increase competition btw this and the other more expected mmorpg (war) and get a better product at the end! Also, i will not have the problem to decide in two months what to do, being in cox, go to connan, wait for war...

Yeah it is nice that they explain why it is pushed back, but come on you don't really buy their explanation do you? I mean 6 months delay so they can figure out how to make the combat easier to learn? Does it take 6 months to design a 5 minute tutorial with a dummy and an instructor that teaches you to go thru all the swings? That kind of delay, combined with a derth of information, means they are having issues with physics, rendering large pvp fights, spell weaving, and crafting. Now I'm glad they want to get the game right but lots of us have been complaining about the lack of info on these aspects of the game and the superfans have been bashing us swearing that funcom was just hiding it's cards. It sure has made the decision to get TR easy for me, was considering skipping TR due to the close proximity of the release dates but now I need stuff to tide me thru till 3/08 yowsa!

It does sound a bit PRspeakish, but I want to give Funcom the benefit of the doubt. I will not be picking it up at release for sure. They have to earn back my trust after the release of AO if they want me to play their games, and they do seem to be hiding something. In this day and age of the MMO industry, if you are totting some new, revolutionary aspect of gameplay, you can't hold your cards close. The general populous will see it that you aren't being upfront about the system because it's either not done or broken. And after Vanguard, the MMO community at large will not tolerate that kind of thing.
I don't want to see AoC fail. I'd like to see it be successful. There is no reason why we can't have multiple MMOs be very popular. But without seeing these revolutionary systems in action at all, it's hard to really get behind a game and want to play it. |

Originally posted by Apraxis Most of the "hype" is in Europe where majority of the beta signups are at, the TT game is very big over there so making WaR you instantly have a huge fanbase for it. WoW2 is just a really hollow statement most base it on the artwork. The interface shouldn't be a reason because most MMo's follow the same template of it. It's also a little crazy to believe that both games will need over 200k subscriptions to do well, that doesn't seem right, 200k subscription is high for an MMO these days, and I don't think either of these games cost the amount of money that Vanguard cost. I guess we'll wait and see what happens, both games will probably be around for a while in my eyes. |

Not surprised at all... actually I called it dead on saying it would be 6 months away, not 3. I was pretty close. It's funny b/c all the nay sayers actually wanted to believe it was going to be released on time that they basically blinded themselves. Funcom understands... in order for a MMORPG to be successful and to draw people from WoW and WAR, that the game has to be unbelievably polished so people get a good first impression on that game. Otherwise people will go back to their old game or to another one. Or they are simply THAT far behind on the game. |
