i already played it for awhile because of the cool advertising... so far its not that fun yet... but then again it could be one of those games that grow on you...

Stop thinking the world revolves around the US. They are blocking all IPs outside the Philippines not just the US.

Their publishing contract only allows them to provide the game to Filipinos.

If you really want to play this game till to the end game, you will need the cash shop for sure. There are too important items for sale which benefits you in pvp, the game is much more ingame shop dependant than probably any other games. It is not really a F2P game, since you will be more or less the underdog without cash.

TBH most of the people playing probably won't be using the shop all that much since most f2p's are inhabited by people that are 18 and under or people w/o cc's.  i mean sure you will run into the people that do have cashshop items and they will whip your tail but i say if you look at like 100 people only maybe 25 of them are going to use it...if that.

My Reasons are.

From a couple of images it seems Textures are taken from World of Warcraft including Ground/Grass textures.

For a Free MMORPG, the engine seems to be constructed rather well compared from what i normally see on a Free MMORPG.

The Text in one of the videos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1aA1QGmEhU) When he goes into a new location, is the Exact same Font, Size and Color of whats in World of Warcraft, its also displayed the same.

The User interface in this video is slightly modified to a different version i saw in another video, which Both are almost exact as what is in WoW - Its easy to Mod User interfaces, as Wow had many customisations.

The Mini Map and Interface bars(That comes up when you use a spell, the cast time) Is Exatly the same as world of Warcraft.

Another little thing is the Loot animation where its glowing lights streaming up from the corpse, is Exact.

Other Little parts seem to have similarities, like the floating Islands, they look pretty simlar (Apart from the buildings on them) to what appeared in a Patch last year for World of Warcraft.

Theres acouple of other things, like above, but so many little ones theres not much point in mentioning as its just little parts.

One part that stands out for me is the Panda Character and the Tiger Character, The Panda more than anything, anyone who plays World of Warcraft will know what i mean when i say Panda. Basically for ages there's been references to Pandas in world of Warcraft, you can have a baby pet panda, and in the origonal model database there is *Speculation* but a Model for a Panda Character, wether or not it made it into the game or not is beyond me as ive not played in about a year now.

 

Coming to think of it after writing that out....

There is a Program that you can get that lets you see any model thats in the world of warcraft game, all you need is the game itself. You use the external program you can put armour onto Characters, customize them, weapons, and also run animations, even at any speed. Also the Game is pretty loose as far as MMO's go, because ever since its been out there have been hacked servers for Wow, so its easy to manipulate the whole game.

Im not saying this game is a complete WoW rippoff, but theres definatley a Homage to Wow in this Game.

No worry, perfect world has nothing in common with WoW...it is more close to lineage 2 but has more quest content and different pvp content.

I realld dont see where this game is similar to  WoW, this game here is totally different...just a f2p clone with more content than average. Probably one of the best f2p at the moment, since u have more quests and not only grief pvp (pk) when you dont want to pay for a game.

Easy to download and install and you can even play the game with a almost 100% english translation patch....official release for english client and international server is probably still some weeks away, except beta which will happen this month but they will wipe after it...so yeah i guess one month around until full release.

I got a torrent for that client after searching for a while, downloaded the client and installed it. It didn't work (could not connect to update server, could not connect (in-game) ).

I read something about an IP ban for users outside the Philippines, but all of that information was a couple of months old and as far as I know this beta was started not long ago.

I then downloaded the Malaysian Client and patched it (english patch), so I could play it. It works.

But here'S the thing: I have a seriously horrible ping. I was hoping that maybe the servers for the english open beta would be somewhere else and would respond faster to my location (europe).

So here's my questions:

Is the current open beta on this site http://perfectworld.levelupgames.ph/ an open beta for players all over the world (no ip ban)?

Is the ping that is shown when connecting to the server (was about 250ms) real? It feels like at least 500ms or more ... extremely unplayable as soon as things are heating up a little.

Is there a chance that the open beta servers are responding faster?

Is everyone else playing this game with shitty pings? (monsters hit you way after they're dead, can't really shoot effectively)

Is my open beta maybe not working because I did something wrong? The Malaysian beta works though. I opened ports 29000 and 80 on my firewall as well as my router (NAT).

No. Phillipines only, all else banned.

The ping shown is real. I never had the game become unplayable, either. But depends on what your comp setup and connection speed is, also.

And the reason for higher pings is because the Malaysian version you are logging into was meant to be played by Malyasians/Chinese, not the rest of the world.

If you mean the Phillipine's version, no.

The english version should have better pings, as although the servers will be in Malaysia, they will be optimized for making connections farther out than just Malaysia China.

I usually get between 150-200 ping. No lag or performance hits, really. Also, have you tried both servers or just one? You may get better ping with the newer server. (There are two servers to choose from at login).

No, again, Phillipines beta is IP blocked.

Well that's what I thought ... they should make it a little more clear on the website I think ...

That the ping is crappy cause I'm playing on chinese servers was obvious but as I said I was kinda hoping the open beta would have servers in a different location closer to me. My ping in other games is great by the way, so its not my setup :) Any I'm playing on the server with a better ping.

Ok, I can read Chinese, and understand Chinese. My Chinese is good, for short. I have played the Chinese version of Perfect World and I can say that it is a very good F2P game. Instances, it has one every 10 lvls (But the monsters are much higher lvl than you, in comparison to the time of which you accept the quest). 6 classes, and the most fun one would be the Yao Jing (Beast Tamer?). That class is able to catch many pets in the game. And, of course, every pet has a unique stat growth and skill. Thus, there are better pets (which people are willing to camp) which will be worth catching. Quests, there will be tons of quests, in short, you level up through quests. Quests, come in quite a few ways. One, is the simple and common (Kill this, and get this) quest. Second, is (Complete this Instance quest, basically kill the boss). Third, (Find this item or person), for some, they give your the coordinates, otherwise, just pray that you find it fast. Fourth, a little jumping fun, 3D jump quests. I only know a few though. However, you need to SP and XP grind a little. But alot of it is given through quests. At least 90%.

Classes -

Warrior - Late Gamer, shreds in late game

Mage - Very Late Gamer, 80+ (which is very long), but undefeatable at that point

Archer - Very strong PVPer through the whole game (loses only to mage)

Priests - Heals party, buffs party (Priests have tons of buffs), can cast attack spells too.

Beast Tamer - Fun class, strong against warriors 1v1 (They have a reflect dmg skill). Has two builds, the spell casting build (For early game). And the best build (For later on, I believe that its actually strong late in the game). Obviously, a restat is needed.

Druid - Tanker, casts spells as damage.

Graphics -

One word, fantastic.

Sound -

Not irritating. Nice.

Animation -

Every skill has something new. Terrain is nice. Flying is nice.

Variety -

Because of the fact that most people do not want to SP grind (Which takes up, a lot of time. Thus, quests are there to give SP). There are actually a lot of builds which you can go to.

Character Customization -

You can EDIT EVERYTHING, except for the beast classes (Where you can't really edit much, maybe the eyes, cause making your own beast is hard. They give you a few default ones though.) Other than that, the elves and humans, you can edit everything, from your hair, to your chest, to your legs. Colour, yes you can look pink. Size, everything. If you find someone that looks like you, it's a miracle.

Grind -

Ok, you'll be grinding for very long at the start. In short, PVP isn't fun until the later part of the game. Where there's siege wars, territories take-over. Bidding for battles.

Overall -

Good game. Must try. Worth playing. Worth waiting. The best F2P you can find (in general).

well, i have played abit on the games. their cash shop item doesn't sell somethings that would create unbalance ingame. basiclly they selling HP/MP Talisman, Accesories (fesyen wear), Pets, and doesn't exist any weapon that can kill your oppenant 1 skill or armor with high defends (undefeatable).

also their item cash shop ain't that expensive, sound likes just a good news for foreign player (it's totally cheap! HP talisman with 600HP Price RM5 (USD1.70 - does this item consider expensive for u?)  )  

Some people say that this is the korean/chinnese/japanese WoW, but, I dont find any reference to wow, the graphic engine? thats all?

I found there are only 3 races and 2 classes for every race... is this ok? anyone else got more inf?

I'd play this, but sadly I don't want to go through the hassle of going to websites where I don't understand a single thing.

The graphics engine isn't anything like WOW. Perfect Worlds graphic engine is 100x better.

 And yes, They're are 2 classes for the Winged Race and the Human race.

Human= Fighter,Mage

Winged= Ranged,Healer

Beast= Beast/Fighter, Tamer

 The beast class is sex locked tho. So one class is male, and one is female.

Although they're are only 2 classes per race. Those classes have a wide range of weapons they can choose from to use. And different skills for those weapons. So instead of choosing a specific type of fighting style, You can choose whatever weapon  you want, without being bound to that fighting style forever.
