This sounds kinda like a tank with bard-ish skills... i think this may be the calss for me. I cant wait for this game, and from the look of the video i just watched, it will be ready in oct. |

If theres anything you can say about Funcom's games, it's that their classes are almost always 'outside the box.' The trend continues with the Conqueror. |

Seems like a paladin without any healing but a little more offensive.I think this class will be wanted for group based combat i hope their dps is not sacrificed too much in favour for heavy armor and buffs |

Reminds me of the Skald from DAOC a bit, this fits my playstyle really well also. |

I also hope that there DPS doesnt suffer.. I love DPS but i want utility to go with it .. hopefully the lack of a shield will insure we get a DPS boots.. you cant tank without a shield IMO... but hey you never know. |

I'm actually a little bummed, although Conqueror is on my short list of classes that I'm interested in playing. I think lore takes another hit especially the way that the aura's are explained, just more magic added to a world that isnt supposed to be all that magical. However, I do agree with the other comments, this seems like a well implemented Paladin style class, no heals, but ability to help out the group, and still be a strong fighter. |

Well the conqueror auras are not supposed to be "magic" more like he is using words of encouragement to strengthen his group like the lotro captain class is supposed to do. Of course one has to wonder " wtf did this dude say to convince my sword to do fire damage" lol |

Jayde expained that aura's was just a technical term. These buffs are activated through the use of battle standards. I think who ever wrote the class preview, should have worded it a bit different to clearly show that it's not a magic class. On a side note, this Sword of the New World add is making me bust out laughing. The women shown has gravity-defying beach-ball breasts with nipples that must be 2 inches lower then normal. Really overdoing it these days aren't they? |

Well...and take this in a friendly manner, but take everything you got from the movies, and disregard it. The game is based about 60% on the original Robert E. Howard books, and the remainder from comics and the Hyborian Age series of books, there might be some inspiration from the movies (camel punching) but that's about it. The movies had so little to do with Conan that it's almost amusing, and this is kind of a case in point. Magic was a fairly uncommon thing in the books, and it was almost feared. Those very, very few that did use it, could conjure up some pretty fierce things, and they were people to be feared, the one thing that magic was not, was common place. Personally, I love the enthusiam about the game, but if you ever get a chance head over here and have a read of some of REH's Conan stories. This way you dont have to go buy the books if you dont want, and most of 'em are pretty short reads. Have a look at: Frost Giants Daughter Enjoy 'em, and if you've seen the movies, you'll see the similiarities and MASSIVE differences between what Howard wrote and the movies did. I hope you get the time to have a look! As far as what Jayde said, I did read that, but it still doesnt change the frost and fire aura's that just dont seem to fit as well, dont get me wrong, I'm not downing it, but to set it up that way does make the lore take a little beating. In my case though, I'd prefer a fun game, so that's a bigger priority. I guess my whole point is it's low fantasy, with minimal magic. I understand it for the caster classes (gotta have it) but it's kinda tough sometimes to swallow for the melee classes. Again though, and I'm not looking to debate it, I'm in favor of enjoyable game first, and if they bend the lore, they bend it. I can be frustrated with it now, but since Conquerer is a class on my list, I'm sure when I roll one, I'll forget about lore, and just enjoy playing it! |
