I'm a big LOTRO fan and have been playing the game since CB and love it. I've seen this game torn to shreads in the LOTRO forums here since release. There have been some valid complaints, but it's not hard to see that MANY of the negative posts are from people who haven't even played the game and are just joining the bandwagon to trash a game that they either don't like or don't want to play. In the past few weeks, I've seen the trolling of LOTRO start to dwindle a bit, but I've also started to see troll posts about both AoC and WAR. It seems like these two games will be the next ones targetted for trolling. Just a helpful tip: If you're a fan of one of those games... don't visit these forums tooooo much. It will anger and upset you and that's exactly what trolls want to happen. Find a site that has forums that are more geared for the game itself, where there's truthful, accurate information being posted. Give it some time and the trolls will move on to the latest victim and will finally leave your game alone for you to enjoy and discuss. Good luck!

LOTR had an open beta, so pretty much everyone played it. And most people didn't like it Nobody has played WAR/AOC yet. As least they aren't allowed to comment yet. So I don't think you have a valid comparison

You are a troll of sorts you know, calling other folks out with a holier-than-thou post, belittling their posts and opinions because they don't like the game you play, and making gross assumptions that they've never played the game. In fact, I'll wager that most trolls (as you call negative posters) actually have played the game in question, maybe not as long as you, but certainly long enough to form an opinion. And for unreleased games, sure, a lot of the posts are speculation, but so what...its fun to speculate, and make guesses as to how it is all going to turn out.... Not everything has to be factual, or proved with a theorem (this isn't Geometry class you know), sometimes its just fun to shoot the shiznit and argue about gaming. You like LotRO, great, go play your game (or post on your favorite forums) and leave the folks alone who want to battle it out with each other on this site. Last thing we need is you looking down your nose at us. Don't feel sorry for us...we're having a great time here

The only difference between a Troll and a Fanboi is which side of the fence they stand on. |

I don't believe this is trolling. Hes just saying that you should play the game you like and not worry about what other people think. There is nothing wrong with that. The truth is most of the people on popular forums try to convince everyone else their opinion is about a game is the right one and everyone else should follow that opinion. I do this myself sometimes without thinking. The truth is everyone has different likes and dislikes. Reading all the negativity constantly can have a big impact on the decision of weather to play a game or not. |

Thing is though, most of the people looking at AoC (and even moreso WAR) are pvp-motivated people. Like the previous poster said, people played the LOTRO open beta, and we all saw how the PvP (if you can call it that) option was in that game. I'm sure there's a lot of PvE/raiding fans that are perfectly content with LOTRO though, and more power to them. Me and many others on the other hand, we want something more for PvP. ----------------------------------------- |

I think the main point of the OP is that most of these forums for games on MMORPG.com are nothing but just flame fest arenas infested by trolls/fanbois. Which I happen to agree sadly. If you want some real information on a game I would agree with that you should visit official website based around that game. Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2. Game(s) I Am Currently Playing: GW2 (+LoL and BF3) |

I only feel sorry for the WAR/AoC fans that seem to think WAR and AoC are the only mmo's released in 2007-2008. |

The only people I feel sorry for are the people who feel sorry for the people who feel sorry about the people who felt sorry in the first place. Urg, actually wait... no, reverse that. Erm, no, go the other way. Yup that's it. NM, you get it. Regarding the OP though.... I mean really, a discussion forum is exactly that, you needs to go into it realizing that not everyone will nor SHOULD they everything in the exact same light you do. That's the fun and run of the interzweb, revel in it, laugh at it and enjoy it. Why occupy your time with anything less then taking some sort of amusement from it, these are after all... just games. |
