One of the rumors of the new expansion coming out (Wrath of the Lich King) is that the lvl cap is going to 80. I want to know how many people think this is a good idea. I honestly think it's one of the stupidest things they could do right now

any details on the new expansions yet or still just rumors ?
i think that raising the lvl cap to 80 is a bad idea at the current stage. They did a fairly bad job of lvl 70 and gear matching, hate to see what they'd do with lvl 80.
is it true or rumor that there is a new class?

I would hate it as i am relatively new to wow and just starting Outland now, i missed out on the old end game and i certainly do not want to miss out on the new level 70 end game |

well the code is there. from my time on private servers i found out they have coded the game to lvl 275. as they need is content really and they better not do another BC by outdating hard earned gear MMO wish list: -Changeable worlds |

if they do raise the cap again (which is a given its really only a question of when) they either have to raise the old instances (MC and so on) to meet with lvl 70 standards or make them 5 mans for the people passing thru on their way to 70. you cant leave them as 60 raid instances because no one would do em MMO wish list: -Changeable worlds |

Obvious rumour for people to start. Very unlikely to be true. I can understand why Blizz wanted to invalidate it's old end-game content once (to get rid of 40 person raids). But why would they want to jettison a whole load of content a second time? |

I believe they would. It a time sink so that more people will stay, to prevent them from going to other game. I dont think even now there's many players doing Kara or any 5 man instance regularly. So in order to make (i believe the majority of people dont raid) to stay, a new lvl cap which gives better loot along the way will be implemented. Maybe even someway for people who wana lvl a alt, easier in early lvl..... RIP Orc Choppa |

of course they will rise the level cap. if not in this expansion (most probable) then in the next. If this bother you, then I'm not sure why you play this game, it has been based on a level and gear progression like this since day 1. What do you expect it happens at level 80? all your level 70 epic gear magically become epic level 80 gear? Then again, any veteran raider here that can tell us how EQ solved this problem or did not solve the problem? I remember they added side advancements instead of rising the level cap, mmmh? Originally posted by butters88 I'll leave WoW before I try to level my 70s (druid / paladin) to 80s. I wish Blizzard would make some mid-game content, and stop making their old dungeons useless. I have another pair of toons (48 hunter / 47 warrior) that I am leveling, and the only dungeons I canget groups for are Uldaman and ZF. Now I have to level to 58+ just so I can get to BC. Don't get me wrong, WoW is a great game, I just don't understand the reasoning for making the old content almost completely useless. Now it's too late to go and revamp the old dungeons. I feel bad for new players (let's face it, new players are what will keep this game going) because they are missing out on some really fun dungeons such as Molten Core, Zul'Gurub, AQ20 and 40 due to the gear being obsolete by BC standards. Come Blizzrd, you can do better than this! |

If BC was any indicator, the level cap will be raised to 80, Northrend released, and within 6 months, Arthas will be on farm-mode. |

Edit: After levelling my third character to 70, i decided to quit WoW and now that I have seen what the "Wrath of the Lich King" is going to be about, I don't regret that decision at all. Unless they have a lot more in the expansion that has not been leaked. Like housing and stuff....

I stopped playing WoW from Feb to July. I am glad that I did. I will still have plenty of time to grind up more money and see what else I want to see. I'll level two of my 60s to 70, that way I can pick which of the three that I want to grind to 80 with. It doesn't bother me at all that the current level 70 stuff will be obsolete in a year or so. |

The destructible content will be awesome in PvP. Just to add a little more realism. And this will piss off a bunch of people, but I wish they'd remove the BE Paly's and the Draneai Shamans. I always though it was kind of fun to have classes that were special to each size (horde/alliance). Oh well. I know they'll never do that. HAHAH

they need to stop worrying about makin more levels cause thats whats really hurting them. they need to start workin on makin new stuff to do once you reach max level. as of right now all you do is constant raid and pvp which is not that good in this game. |

The level cap will continue to go up and up....no getting away from that I'm afraid, its a core design of the game (and one of the reasons I quit playing before TBC) But I think eventually Blizzard will breath new life into the old raid instances by redoing them a bit...upping the mob difficulty, updating the drop tables to what ever the current release is when they decide to do it. Don't worry, someday players will be going back to face Lord Nef yet again...though probably now as part of the new 25 man formats (or heck, maybe they'll make it easier so it can be 10 manned) "Just because you aren't paying doesn't mean it's not PTW." - Amaranthar |

I am most likely days from cancelling m WoW subscription. The repetative monotony is killing me. It isn't even about "gear makes your character" frustration; it's knowing they are only doing these things to keep players around and not do anything new and unique. I suppose for me it would finally be the last straw if they raised the level cap again. BC has pretty much killed my game play as it is, I have zero desire to level grind to 70 and I just play WoW when my kids want to anymore ( I don't let them play the game without my being there). If Blizzard raises the level cap again they can say goodbye to the three accounts I pay for, I know I'll have some disappointed kids but they'll get over it.
