That looks good, but have you though of Intel® Core™2 Extreme processor QX6850 for your processor, its 2 cores run at 3G and with 1333MHz bus speed at 8MB L2 cache, you cannot go wrong. Or if thats too much for you try the Pentium D 960, its 2 cores run at 3.6G with 800MHz cache. I don't know what your budget is, but you should try for 4GB Ram for extra boost. Other than that, looks like it'll be a sweet rig. Cheers. |

I'll definitly look into the Intel® Core™2 Extreme processor QX6850 I still have a good 800$ left before reaching my 2500$ budget,if its that much better, ill get it :) thank for your input |

System looks good to me. I would rather get a single 150GB Raptor hard drive instead of a 500GB though. Maybe you have a lot of music or movies, I don't know, but 150GB is plenty for all of the games I play. If you have a lot of movies and music, I would put them on an external drive. |

I don't know his budget either but judging by the cost of the rest of his parts I don't think a QX6850 is in his toilet. Note the QX6850 is a total waste of money. A 400mhz increase in clockspeed doesn't justify the extra 3 or 400$ price jump. As the other person pointed out why would you get a Pentium D? Why go from a 65nm goodness to a worse architecture a generally hotter chip and not to mention more power hungry and slower. EDIT: Originally posted by trillah Er |

If you got the extra cash I'd get the Geforce8800GTX instead of the GTS. |

ya go for the GTX instead i've had both and there is a huge difference. 4GB ram doesn't work properly as far as i understand in XP so don't get that unless you are going for vista. also get the cheaper processor and OC it and its just as good as the $1k cpu. save your money there, you will get the same performance... also its better to get mature technology so when there is a problem with it some one else will have already had it. new stuff has new problems and good luck figuring out whats wrong with it. i'd save money on the processor and go for a 24" ws HDTV LCD! 8) my gf is making me wait until xmas to get mine =\ die. <3 |
