Well anyone that has played forumfall(sitting in darkfall forums) knows that darkfall is coming out, no its not vaporware. does vaporware release dev journals monthly with videos? well anyway here is a article written by surly about darkfalls past and future. Surly's Column: State of the Game: Darkfall, Razorwax and Aventurine, Here's the Rub
heres the most important things: "With the latest news to be uncovered, it appears Aventurine has procured a 20 million Euro convertible bond ($27.5m USD) loan with Marfin Bank[27] at the behest of Proton Investment Bank of Greece[28]. I can't help but think that no more than $25m of that would be dedicated to initial server hosting and publishing. Without much enthusiasm or presumption, I would submit that the wait for Darkfall is over. $27.5m loans tend to be a bitch to pay off interest on, especially when sitting squarely on your laurels. The clamps are most certainly down, and Aventurine is financially committed to the launch of Darkfall whether they like it or not. Whether that's a good thing or not is also yet to be seen, because for the first time in its long development Darkfall Online is subject to the most dreaded of all development problems: time constraints. Given Aventurine's recent admission that they will not even be capable of entertaining their scheduled WarCry update by writing it ahead of time on or around the 15th of August[30], I think it's a safe assumption that mid-August will see Darkfall's public servers online, and functional. Recent business trips which left Tasos outside of the country[31] would even indicate that they wouldn't necessarily be located in Greece. As I stated in a previous article, public beta by October, or I'll club a baby seal."

It's promising news indeed, but I'm still not impressed. Like I said, right now, for Aventurine to quench my doubts, they'll need an official BETA. Until then, I don't care what they say or what anyone else says. For now, a BETA is the only thing that will discredit it as vaporware. |

Not flamming but to flame a game for taking its time to develop is hypocritical. You people are the same ones who will moan and cry about a game being rushed to release.
Can I ask why flame a game youve spent no money on ? Why flame a game you havent played , no one has played. How can you make a rational flame about a game you have not played ? I'm just curious to the flammers out there how do you justify flamming a game youve spent nothing on ? How can you flame a company for taking there time to release THERE GAME. Its not your game, they owe us nothing until we start paying to play. |

Originally posted by Piers Thats exactly the point... Until we see some concrete results, such as 3rd party hands on, a BETA or something to prove the game is functional, all we can do is wait. Aventurine says their game speaks for itself and they don't need to publicize. Uhm, my personal thoughts on this are... Aventurine has nothing to publicize and that was the best they could come up with. Believe me, if your game is working as intended and things are going as planned, your not going to make up excuses like that. |

Originally posted by Markn12 I'm not flaming the game, I'm discrediting the company behind the game. I don't believe the game exists, how is that flaming? Until Aventurine proves me wrong with an outside 3rd party review, an official BETA or something other then internal company handouts that show nothing as to the games functionality, it's vaporware. I'm not against Darkfall, I'm just against Aventurine, there is a difference. |

Originally posted by Rhoklaw You think companys waste millions on stuff that doesnt exist man ? I dont mean to sound like an ass, but the conspiracy theories are old. Yes the game has been in development for so long with no 3rd party review or beta, and the fact they dont go to E3 in US to show the game off hurts them, but given that it is there game isnt it ? SHouldnt they dictate when its released and when people can revview and beta test it ? |

Originally posted by Markn12 Ok, your missing the whole picture, so let me get you up to speed. Aventurine can't seem to make up their mind. If your going to advertise your game, then do it properly. If your going to claim that you don't need to advertise your game because the game speaks for itself, then don't advertise. The problem with Aventurine, is they've held 2 BETA's so far and canceled both and have yet again claimed a BETA around the corner, specificall the summer of '07. I've already stated that I don't care how long this game has been in development or will be in development. My problem is with Aventurines constant lies and dodge tactics in the media. If your game isn't ready for media press, don't advertise, whats so difficult about that? All Aventurine has shown me is that they NEED to advertise, that they NEED to prove they exist. If that wasn't true, why the early press release back in 2001 that the game was in development? Why would you even bring it up 2 years before you even have the resources to begin development? MMO's need publicity because investors demand feedback from us. Why would anyone invest in a product that fails to prove it's existance? Why doesn't Aventurine allow a 3rd party review? Why the 2 failed BETA attempts? Sorry, theres just too much wrong with the company behind this game for me to believe in it. |

This of course, along with everything else he's been saying over the years has nothing to do with reality. |

If they know who the guy is, they know where he is connecting from, they know his isp etc... why have they allowed him to do it for 3 years? Why not just make a call and get his service cancelled? Every isp has policies about that sort of thing. If they spent the time and effort to track the guy down, they surely have the minute to make such a call. Something kinda smells fishy to me. |
