I'm not necessarily bad-mouthing WAR. I'm just saying the OP is a troll and he is complaining that the 'realistic' graphics look like crap. When the biggest MMOG out there looks FAR FAR worse in terms of model detail and 'realism'. The WoW vs WAR graphic pic there was just the closest I had at hand that clearly shows models in WoW. Honest. ;)

People accuse the OP of trolling but for all we know, maybe he/she does think the graphics are subpar.  It's just the OP's opinion.  I think the graphics are fine, especially the environment.  Like someone else said, I think the eyes look a little funny and I hope they tweak that but otherwise, everything looks ace to me.  I'm more curious as to how the game plays, because to me and I assume a lot of other gamers, that's where it really matters when it comes to any game.

You know the game isn't even released or finished yet so you really don't know what the final product is.   I'm pumped for this game.  DX10 and my Geforce 8800 GTX should make this game worth playing.  Just wait for the final product, Open Beta or trial to see what it really looks like.  Look at Warhammer Online and LoTRo.  They didn't  have all the graphics implemented during beta.  So what make Conan different?

Actually I had a massive headache this morning, so I may not have been. No seriously. To reply, I was just trolling a troll post. This forum is FULL of trolling right now, for some insane reason. You know, the whole 'fight fire with fire' thing. That and the OP's post made me LMAO when you consider the shitty level of modeling and model detail in the biggest MMOG out there. I didn't necessarily mean to throw a flame against WAR in there, that was just the closest pic at hand that showed the models from WoW in it. It wasn't ment to piss off the WAR fans, of which I am one.

Im not impressed either tbh. I like WAR graphics better, i just think the character models look cooler with WAR. Im not saying AOC graphics suck though. Anyone who says that is lying.

If the Op was complaining over and over about, and wasn't budging on his opinion then yes. I would agree it was a troll post, but it hasn't happened so far, so using the old guilty till proven innocent won't really work, not to offend. If you're gunna use fire to fight fire too, try using some more pizzaz then artwork of WoW and WaR.

I took another look again at the screenshots and videos.  And i can say i didn't like it.

I wouldn't call the below average, because...what average should there be? The Average between LotRO and WoW? AoC looks better than that.

No doubt, AoCs Graphics ARE good... but I'm just not impressed by them... to me, they sorta lack the "Oh, cool!"-Factor of some sort. I dunno if AoC features some sort of this as well, but I personally was majorly impressed when a WAR Video showed up where an entire mountainslide gets bombed, and buries an orc encampment  with gigantic rocks. You know, stuff that makes you say: "Whow, now that was cool"...

AoC will have a gigantic technical advantage over WAR, WoW, LotRO and whatever else, and that's the DX10 Support. Could also be a major turn-off for subscribers though, even when it's not mandatory.

We'll see.

Some of you might have heard about a hypothesis called the "Uncanny Valley". It is by a Japanese roboticist called Masahiro Mori and primarily deals with robotics. In particular, the human response to the robots' degree of likeness to humankind.

*Quite roughly*, the hypothesis goes likes this:

Initially, in a construct that's obviously not too much like a human being, the human-like aspects tend to get noticed first, generating empathy. We find it cute that they do look like us in some aspects.

On the other hand, there is a threshold to this... Once a robot steps over that threshold and becomes *too human-like*, we tend to notice the aspects that just feel "wrong" with it, thus generating some sense of repulsion. We find it uncanny.

I know it's not the same thing, but maybe our response to game graphics goes a bit like this. Meaning: When a game goes for "realism" in depicting humans, we tend to first notice what's "wrong" with them, whereas we are a bit more comfortable with cartoon-like representations in this respect (of course, having recognizably non-human species might help, too).

So games like Age of Conan going for that realism have it a bit harder in the artwork *and* graphics department.

Yeah well... I dunno if above plays into it... but when I see so-called "realisitc" Graphics... well they aren't even CLOSE to being realistic (why do Barbarians have Shaved Legs, btw?), they are bland, look like plastic, lack the detail that would make 'em realistic. Same with Trees, Leafs, Grass, Houses, Caves, everything. It looks good, but not realistic.

And since a realistic look can't be achieved at the moment (and some years to come, I wager), I'd rather like to see unrealistic graphics on purpose, i.e. exaggerated, stylized.

I agree with you. Yes the AoC environment looks very nice but the WAR graphics seem much more unique and interesting to look at. I also think the character models in WAR have a much smoother aspect in them instead of AoCs.

I have to agree somepoints of the graphics are ok such as the armour [tho it could do with some wear and tear such as a dent and amybee some rust spots. But i do feel the skin still looks a bit shinny.Which is why i think people call it plasticky.

Im also concerned that witht he dark colours used in the scenery and the dak colours used in the charecter models that some of them may get lost in the bushes if you get what i mean.
