You do have the option open of not reading this forum and sticking to "current". I don't buy the number that the OP is claiming because I believe it's too high. 85K MAYBE if they count EVERY station pass that EVER once logged into SWG, and if they are counting free trials, but the active base is barely more than half that at most. |

This is what I am seeing as well. A bunch surged in for CH6, but are already bleeding off, especially after it was stated that CH7 won't be out until at least September. That's way too long to wait for any new content. |

To state the obvious: SOE is not completely oblivious (appearances to the contrary). They certainly know that the "word on the street" is that their NGE tanked and the subs numbers are horrible and have never recovered at all. If they had any data that they could post on subs numbers that would contradict this impression, they'd have posted them. I have said this many times. The fact that since the CU and even before, they have not given even a hint of what the actual subs numbers are, is all the information you need to know that the subs of this game are not doing well. When subs were doing well (the first year) they were constantly updating us... "200k faster than any MMO in history".... "250K".... "300K mark reached!"... then... silence. And silence ever since. If they had any data at all to crow about, they'd be crowing. That they are not, speaks more volumes than the actual numbers ever would. C |

Originally posted by DarthMaulUKSorry UK, you're a little out of touch on this. The genre has and does promote their active user/subscriber base. Wether it be EVE Online which shows their active concurent user base, in real time, or Second Life that puts out frequent press releases regarding theirs. Then we have World of Warcraft which obviously promotes their subscriber numbers. Fact is there is a majority of developer/publishers that DO publicize their subscription numbers. Don't get upset UK, it's ok. SWG has suffered from a plethora of set backs due to poor design and development through SOE's staff. When you look at the number crunching ways of Lucas Arts and their marketing schemes you'll see how the demise was furthered along. We all enjoyed the game and some of us still try to maintain that enjoyment. I'm glad you like it, but keep in mind that there's a left to every right. When marketing tells the sbscribing fan base to take a hike 'cs they believe they can get more then they'll lose, how can complatency be warranted? SWG has improved over the last 14 months. Yet it's ignorant to not see how something as stripped down and overly simplified as the "new game enhancemnets" has only to improve; it doesn't get any worse! EVE Online launched in 2003. Look at their subscriptions... p.s. keep up the cool SWG site! |

Originally posted by NetzzUnless it's proven by you providing a verifiable source, then it is not current subscription numbers. It is your (i.e. someone with no connection to the game and no official access to the numbers quoted by you) ascertation that these are the current numbers. Two entirely different things: one fact (verifiable info) and one speculation/rumor (your post). Therefore, I would have moved you to general discussion, myself. As your thread does not have anything legitimate to do with the actual current numbers, and is also non-vet related in nature. |

Originally posted by DarthMaulUKUhhhh.... That's just not true. For one, SOE's PR guy bragged a few months back about have a total, yes total, of 800k Subs for all it's games. Add to that Blizzard regularly talks about subs. The add to that NCSoft regular gives sub numbers in their PR releases to brag. So lets be clear here.... SOE has talked about it's overall subs recently, and 2 companies with more subs then SOE talk about it... oh, and Linden too.... so it seems that subs are talked about, unless they make your game look bad... |

85k seems realistic enough to me. May or may not include station pass people with SWG accounts. But still the source is just "a guy on the net who claims to know someone" Its no more legit or reliable than any other source out there. 5k increase in a month would be nice progress for a dying 4 year old game that went through NGE. 5k doesn't sound like much but for $15 a month each x 5k x 12 months amounts to $900k extra a year. Any increase at this point is probably considered a good job.

85K is realistic if you count the trials that the credit farmers (and even current players) are exploiting. But that is fool's gold if you want actual revenue generating subs. |

i would say around 60k, we have definitely seen a surge on Valcyn since chapter 5 came out. But alot of it has to do with the space community. And yes, my number is just a generalization based on my server and the every so often heavy loads on some other servers, but i cannot honestly say what other servers pops are like

Thought so... ******************************** That sig was removed by SOE mods. |

After having paid hundreds, even thousands of real dollars and 2 - 3 years of our free time anywher efrom 4 hours to 16 ( yes I knew some fanatics) If we havent got over it , one more NGE loving nub telling us wont suddenly break our will and make us all come running back . LOL!!!! but its funny ... its like.. a 10 year old explaining to me how good the new Metallica CD is, when they never even heard of Ride the lightning... and think Load was there first CD...

Truly GreyPawn is a mask. A mask that myself and a few who have had some dealings with him NOT in public (mostly over the whole senate/Bloodfin controversy) have gotten to see behind in the last few days. Truly the guy is NOT at all what he purports to be. He's trying to present a front that he's "on the players side", etc but he isn't. His job is to APPEAR that he is "on the players side". Go take a look at the new "senate" he's assembled to get an idea. You have a PA "senator" who never led a PA until recently (who also is authoring PM nastygrams. Most of the rest of them are similarly undistinguished. They were chosen based on "political reliability" over anything else. The bloom will be off the rose very soon for GreyPawn, and knowing what I do now about how he deals with the slightest challenge, it won't be long before he falls completely out of favor with the players, since they WILL challenge him when he fails to back up what he's saying now, since, like his statements on the game's subscriber numbers and financial health, there is NO substance to it. |
