I was informed late last night through some sources that someone at E3 told another developer that Turbine is in the works to redo AC. Don't know how true it is and the info talked about surprised me.

I heard that they are redoing AC into a modern graphical setting taking on the LOTR engine to redo AC and reform some things. Also the idea that the game will have almost a 100% clone of the original AC with new features added is what striked me as positive information if its true. I also heard that current content in AC and players currently subscribed to AC will have the ability to use those items they got off of AC to open or unlock in the new AC, such possibilities of having a way to use things from another game into a retake of the original game would be neat.

I don't know about you guys but if any of this was true then it would be sweet. I only heard it off of Ventrilo while playing with some players in AC last night, so anything a AC player says could be hype or speculation but hey, it sounded really neat what he was talking about. Granted if Turbine did redo AC into it's LOTR engine and kept it 100% clone I think the game would be as successful as WOW was it's first 1yr 6months or better.

What do you all think and did you hear anything about this? I am so hyped after I listened to this last night, I don't know what to think lol.

I seriously doubt it. AC is a mess. Cloning it is a bad idea. There are things that needed to be kept and dropped. It's far from perfect.

I had alot of fun when it was popular way back when, if they added some better/smoother graphics in, id play.

Clearly a reliable rumor.

That's what we thought AC 2 was going to be... Sadly the community's idea of what a sequal to an MMO should be like, and what it was are two different things. The idea of a sequal is it's supposed to take on the original game michanics (think KOTOR II, HALO 2, any game sequal out there that's a true sequal) and add additional details that improve the overal effect on the characters choices. Basicly it's saying that we've got the fundamental game down already, but now we're going to progress the story line, do some art adjustments with improved graphics, and add additional content that was not possible in the old version.

What we've been getting with sequals, such as AC2 and even EQ2, is a game that hardly resembles it's predasesor, besides a name and some similar storylines. AC2 didn't reflect, IMO, anything that AC ever was.

Personaly, if they gave AC a much  needed new graphics engine, with no serious changes in the functioning of skills that alter the main gameplay (so that away it feels like i'm playing AC, not something that ripped its storylines off and could have been called by another tittle) I'd play it in a heartbeat. AC was a great game for it's time, and today still has it's place. I can't think of one other MMO out there that you can dodge missle spells. It has such a huge dependency on strategy as much as it does skills. Loved playing an archer (with some magic of course, back then EVERYONE had some sort of magic, otherwise you'd be screwed unless you had friends or items to buff you or someone to help you travel with portals) and being able to sit up on a walkway in a dungeon and shoot down at monsters, trying to dodge spells and the like.

All the original players would play with a graphics update. Sadly almost no one else would.

I would. I've never touched AC, but the AC2 trial was my first MMO experience. Provided they gave some attention to the issues you vets say are there, and they moved it all over to their new engine, count me in. Oh and get the damn Station Pass style system going...

I have been wishing this for years... dont thihnk its gonna happen. If it did I would sure play it. BUt I think they would have to adress the fact of the lack of skills in melee and archery. The mage has several different spells, war mage and life mage. Were as the melee and archery it just a one click deal no special moves. Hit or miss. Anyhow I had a petition to do this once up at petitions.com althoug I never advertised or posted anywhere about the petition it found a few people.

Played AC 1 for the longest time. when i heard AC2 was coming out, omfg i laughed so hard. and it bombed just like i knew it would. anyone in their right mind wouldnt turn down a "revised" AC1. i think i'd drop everything for that. It was so pimp. and like somone said in a previous post, you could actually dodge spells. a quality i miss greatly.

I dont know what people mean when they say :  you can dodge spell/missile atttacks in AC1...

Because this is not a feature that puts AC1 apart form AC2, you could dodge/strafe missile/spell attacks in AC2 in the same manner as AC1.

What needs to happen is Turbine needs to take the AC1 gameplay, combine it with the LOTRO graphical engine and re-market it as a new game. While I like LOTR's story Turbine is the best at creating a great story arc along with lore to back it up.

We need a true followup to AC1. Maaaaaaybe an MMO based on what happened inbetween the two. The players know they are fighting a lost cause so how long can they string it out?

I don't know, how accurate this is but my archer is alot of fun and you have to time missle attacks and hit either high medium or low depending on the fight and area of vulnerability. We have rends we can add to bows to do greater dmg within a certain vulnerability that creature might have.

At least for me archer is as fun as mage, it really isn't simple click and launch arrows, you still dodge attacks and stuff and can dodge incoming missles or spells and at the same time while launching your own attacks.

I agree if they just updated the graphics and added things from AC2 like the musical instruments and swimming I'd go and play another 5yrs.

I refuse to get my hopes up on this rumor because it will only lead to my heart being broken.

AC1 w/ Graphical upgrade has been on EVERY AC1 players wishlist since they made pants with pockets.

AC1 was a game way ahead of it's time.  With a graphical upgrade this game would be a sure fire hit.

But lets be real guys..... It's only wishful thinking.

Heck yeah I would play it. I still want my AC2 back though.

I dont think a new AC is ever comming. I still play AC & its still a great game. I do believe it is time to cut some losses. I say combine a few servers & drop the monthly sub price lower, not free. Then shoot out a little marketing through MMORPG & give existing players (your best source of advertising) free 60 day startup accounts to hand out to everyone they know.
