As a father, I look for games that do not take many hours a day (every day) to get the feeling of accomplishment. MMODADS has compiled a list for you of the top 5 most “Dad Friendly” MMO’s currently out there. |

Hey good post mate. If I were a dad I wouldn't be playing a game that you had to stick around all night for. City of Villains would be my choice. -------------------------------------------------- |

When it comes to MMO's, I don't see how being "Dad friendly" is any sort of a qualifier to rate these games by. And this is coming from a father of 2 young children. Being "Dad friendly", or just accommodating to any parents needs, has more to do with your playstyle, and not the game itself. You don't go into a raid instance a half hour before you need to pick your kids up from pre-school. If you happen to join a group while out questing or grinding, you let your groupmates know that you might have to leave unexpectedly if your baby wakes up from her nap. You don't go into that huge PvP battle where people are depending on you, if you are in the middle of feeding strained peas to your fussy, teething 1 year old.
"Dad friendly"... give me a break.

Perception is reality right? So if he perceives these games as dad friendly, I don't see why he should "give you a break". According to your signature, you should be a lot more open minded. |

Originally posted by PerceptionBeing a Father myself, I think that the value of a game being “Father Friendly” is a very important factor to know before purchasing a game. In fact, I find the value of most things that state that they are “Father Friendly”. This includes movies, TV shows, events, restaurants, ect. By the way, you are welcome. I enjoy taking the time out of my schedule to put together little things like this thread to help fellow Fathers. Your appreciation is all the encouragement I need to keep on helping others. For that, I thank you.

I made MMODADS.COM for Dads because I am a Dad and it is something I know about.
Would you like to comment on-topic about my list of "Father Friendly" games? |

They really do make a garden look nice. Seriously though, nice work on that list Savvon. I'm not a father, but a lot of those criteria apply to me maintaining a healthy relationship with my girlfriend. Personally, I like how CoX feeds my need for gaming without a huge time investment. Much better than when I was so addicted to WoW that she once dumped an ashtray on my head because I was ignoring her. Better than the alternative though! Her first impulse was to chuck it at me from across the room. |

Heh, me being 19 I felt the need to read that only because I know I will soon be a 'MMODAD.' I'm going to have to deal with family, kids, full-time career/job. Fun... |

Originally posted by qeldar My point is that you could apply those "qualifiers" to any game or activity, and they are extremely subjective.
A) You can progress in any MMO. I imagine even those people who are not parents may still be limited on time, having things such as jobs, a social life, etc. And just because someone is a parent, doesn't mean they don't have a lot of free time either. Perhaps your kids are in school and you are a stay-at-home parent. That would afford you 6 or 7 hours a day to play, if not more. B) Entertained... again, this is extremely subjective to an individuals tastes, and has nothing to do with whether or not they are a parent. I like what I like, regardless if I have children. C) You do not have to invest insane amounts of time into any game. Every person can set their own goals in an MMO, and achieve them at their own leisure. D) Every game has the potential to interfere with family and work, as well as any other activity. Again, this has more to do with an individuals use of their time, and not the game itself.
I can read quite well, thank you.
Edit: My apologies if I come across as a dickhead. My mannerism in text can be viewed as being very curt, but it is not my intention to degrade any conversation into personal attacks. |

I think Sword of the new World should be added. The main reason is because I can set my toons to auto defend while I change a diaper or make a meal. Being able to lvl while you attend to lifes duties is a definate plus. Not to mention it's a well done game. |

Originally posted by Yukkione SotNW came really close to be added to the list. It is a newer game and we wanted to see how much of the game the devs change in the next few months.
If they do not change anything to drastic, it will be deffintly on our next list of top 5.
Perception, Fear not though, even though there are negative people out there, MMODADS will always be around to help others out of their own free time and out of their own pocket. |

Originally posted by SavvonNeat. However, contrary to your view, I am not negative towards MMODADS. I am simply pointing out that your criteria for judging a game as "Dad friendly" are far too subjective to have any real meaning. However, at this point, I think you are just trying to promote your website more than anything... and here I am helping out by bumping the thread... |
