Currently, I am trying to decide over whether I should play Everquest 2 or Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. Both games have their ups and downs, and I like them both. What do you think? |

Both bad choices. Choose Ryzom. |

If your comp can handle it and you like a wide open game, VG for sure. There are bugs yes but ive played it from the beginning and its getting better all the time. Diplomacy, crafting, and adventuring for advancment trees, housing soon to be implemented flying mounts. The gfx are amazing on near max settings! |

I've played both extensively and I'd have to say EQ2 right now. Tons of content, game runs well without many bugs, lots of players, fun community. It's a pretty solid choice and I would have to say it's one of the best MMOs on the market right now. It just depends on what you want in your game I suppose. Lots of races, lots of classes, great roleplaying potential. It has gotten better and better since it's release and continues to do so every month. Vanguard needs a little more time to develop in my opinion. It's a pretty decent game, but it is very frustrating to play in it's current state. It crashes quite a bit and the population is pretty low, making it hard to find others to play with. Others may tell you that this isn't the case, but in my experience, it is. The world is extremely large and the graphics range from plastic looking to photorealistic, it doesn't seem very consistent to me but can be very beautiful none the less. OR if you don't want to choose, go ahead and just get a Station Pass and play them both, that's what I do. It really comes down to what you want from your game. EQ2 feels much better all around to me, but what I like might not be the same things you find fun in your gaming experience. Try them both and see what's fun :) |

On a whim, I picked up both Vanguard and EQ2 the other day and added them to my station pass. Honestly, while it's very obvious from the moment you load the game that it's not release-worthy yet, I'm leaning towards prefering it over EQ2. I've spent an equal amount of time (not much, mind you) in each, and Vanguard has been somewhat more interesting, and it's actually performing better than EQ2 for me, though I haven't delved into .ini files and whatever other crap I need to do to get it up to snuff. But both of them lack the smoothness I see in a more (just had to use the word of the year) Polished title like LOTRO where I get 60+ fps with every option maxed. I figured EQ2 would fly right along, and I do get a good framerate, but the whole experience feels jerky all the same. |

I've played both games. I got Vanguard at release then quit after a month cause it felt like I was doing the same things over and over again. I've just been wondering if it has gotten any better. I also got EQ2 at release but it has been off and on with whether I want to play it or not. Out of all the MMO's Ive played these 2 have been the best. |

IMO, you should play Everquest 2. I am currently subscribed to and playing both, and the main reason I feel you should choose EQ2 is because it has so much more content. Some of it you have to pay for saddly, but never the less i feel EQ has more to keep you interested. Just my opinion, of course, and I am sure some may tell you differently. Vanguard has the potentiial to be a great game, but that seems far off. More players in the community in EQ as well, which is a big plus for me. It is best to wait for Vanguard to (hopefully) get it together. Horay! My first post Hope that helps. |

At this point in time EQII is the better title however Vanguard has the higher ceiling. It looks like REAL strides are finally happening for VG now that SOE has the reigns. It's going to be interesting as the next 6 months will be crucial to VG's survival. With AOC, WAR, Aion and company waiting in the wings the window's closing fast.

I'd definitely go with EQ2, it's a solid game that's chock-full of fun and interesting things to do, with new stuff being added all the time, both in free updates and expansions. It has a growing population, unlike Vanguard, with a lot of players returning, and really can offer pretty much any kind of playstyle you like, solo or group, quest, combat, or exploration focused. Personally I like it a lot more than Vanguard. |
