First two are confirmed in the stocast interview.
The interiors on ship hubs issue is confirmed multiple times by developers, even as recent as Daron's gamona and jeuxonline interviews. There has been no 'There will definitely not be any interiors on player ships' statement. I'm not going to run around gathering information for you, get off your own arse and look for it instead of sitting in here believing whatever anyone tells you, including me. If you don't believe what I'm saying, or whoever, find out for yourself. |

I assume you're just trying to be cute. I didn't say that they said there would definitely be player ship interiors. I said they haven't said that there won't be. |

I had always assumed this game would play somewhat like Bridge Commander with the added ability to roam around your ship. Each player would have their own station to man and once your shift was over you could visit the mess hall or holodeck. By the sounds of it I guess thats not to be. OH MY GOD WE'RE SURROUNDED! SEND FOR BACKUP! DIG IN DEFENSIVE POSITIONS! MAN YOUR NECKBEARDS!!! I'll pre order you SWTOR if you let me put my lightsaber in your sarlaac cave. |

This game will be based on perhaps the ONLY popular sci-fi license with enough depth and content to pull off a good MMORPG. Let's face it, I acknowledge Star Wars' revolutionary impact on special effects and pop culture in the late seventies/early eighties, but go back and watch those films when you're all grown up and their main appeal is in their nostalgic and comedic value. Star Trek on the other hand has aged surprisingly well, and as long as the developers don't turn this game into a pale point-click-and-grind imitation what's currently popular in MMORPGs, this could be a really amazing title. It's way too early in the development process to be writing this game's epitaph. This game has a rapid, devoted fanbase, I'd say one that rivals any other franchise. It's also at a time where there is not much Star Trek news on the horizon outside of the potential prequel, so if this game is halfway playable, I think it can make a substantial dent in the market if only because of Star Trek fans hungry for something new.

As for Klinks in the federation...so frakkin what?? What if a Klingon serves aboard a federation ship, theres a few known exceptions to the feds vs the klinks...like half of DS9. I am a bit dissapointed about ship interiors and no PvP, but i think as the game develops they will re address these issues...Perpetual is a company devoted to producing MMO's and are workin in tandem with several key emmebers of the television shows, and if it takes 10 years to put out a ST MMO...then im a big enough fan of Star Trek to test drive their product, THEN give my opinion wether they want to hear it or not... /bow /wave, GL, HH and HF <S> 32nd Captain Elfender 32nd Fleet |

Though I dont think I will even look into playing this game let me point out some things here... Eve-online is a very good game. All you see is the out side of the ship....wonder where they got their idea from? Mods are wasted bags of flesh, that come in at 350-400lbs, and live in the basement of the parents home. PvP is a SMALL percent of the player market....Even a hardcore company like CCP has seen this and allowed their game to sway toward PvE over PvP. If Paramount, sold the license of Startrek to this company...well guess what.... Oh for all you trekies....dont count on another ST show or movie.....Paramount sold off the entire department. |

uh, that's why JJ Abrams is making a new Star Trek movie with a mega budget? Because Paramount does not care? |

Maybe ST:Online will be released in 2012 and that's the year that the Mayan calender or something is supposed to end and the whole world is supposed to be blown to smithereens by a comet and come to end for all of us. LOL |

Geesh, I don't post much but I had to post just to say this op is a whiney little *****! Never followed a game or something. If the thing was ready to release in a couple of months then I would understand getting upset that nothing is in the game they said. This thing isn't anywhere near done.
Whine whine whine.
The op is just a troll, his initial statements have been proven wrong and he still won't read the responses and acknowledge that maybe he didn't have all the information or was misinformed. You may have been following this game but apparently you don't follow any other games because they all go through the same thing. People expect it to be out tomorrow and they hate that they have to wait.

Wow, 18 pages and the argument still rages on. I don't mean to be a downer but really, 18 PAGES!!! and still nothing new under the sun concerning why most are not going to play STO. The main argument is always the no player ship interiors, which is 90 percent of what most quote as their reasons why the game will not succeed, and boy howdy there are several other threads covering just that one topic as well. Second to interiors is the exterior combat view, and assorted miscellany scattered here and there. Nothing else out there seems to tick people off more and yet, should it really run 18+ pages when the majority of the posters are the same ones arguing with everyone over and over again. Maybe this thread should go gently into the night, and everyone who isn't going to play the game can move onto games that really matter to them, and perhaps they can even hope that PE comes to its senses or that someone else can purchase the license from PE and make the game the way that they want. Just felt like this needed to be said, that's all. |

Originally posted by OrionStar Well... If they can get G&H out this year (2007), I think STO could be out in Q-1 2012. As for the whole "END OF THE WORLD" stuff....I kinda think humanity will limp on a bit longer....BUT! I will say a 2012 STO release for now....maybe Q-4 of 2013 at the latest. I can only base this figure on what PE has shown us in regards to G&H's. Considering how far they have come with STO in 3 years time, I would say that is a conservative number. |

I applaud PE for being in touch with the community like this years before they plan to...wait they already have done press stuff since 2004! Yes, since 2004 PE decided to give interviews and release screenshots and give a lot of details. Since 2004, they had a dev blog site, which has since shut down. So since at least 2004, and I know that they were working on STO before 2004, the game has been in pre-production.
