I was curious why Hellgate London is not on this website. I realize that there is a lot of debate on whether it is an "MMO" or not, but it is no different than Guild Wars. Hellgate is heavily instanced, but it includes districts or "towns" to meet just like Guild Wars. It also includes player housing, guilds, and quests. There "IS" a monthly charge of 9.95 or around there for an elite package, and it will be free for those who do not wish to have things like guild housing, a higher level cap, and leet drops. But I guess I'm just curious on your thoughts. If you do not think that Hellgate is a good game fine, but why have Guild Wars and not Hellgate? Should MMORPG.com have it? I say yes.... But I'm a fanboy of D2 and flagship. ;) |

Thats a good point. It is not really set, but still "GUILD HOUSING." Thats more of an MMO than GWs IMO. ;) |

Most games that debatably qualify as an MMORPG will be able to get on the list. It just seems to take some effort to get it done. I think if a Hellgate dev/CM expressed an interest in getting on the site, they would get on.
Ever since Guild Wars came out the term 'MMORPG' has been loosened to describe pretty much any 3D MMO that has persistent character development and common areas in which players can meet. Guild Wars has always been considered an MMORPG, so the facts that leveling takes no time, you can hardly customize your character, and you're often in your own instance now apply to the entire genre. |
