Bioware sounds good but since they have no experience yet in the MMO market, least to my knowledge, that may be a "Blessed Curse". Since making a MMO is a whole 'nother animal from making a single player game I'm not sure that LA would fancy another gamble. I would tend to think they would go for a company that has a GREAT rapport within the MMO community and, again since Bioware has no MMO community YET, they would look at what company has steady and nice growing numbers. But, who knows what LA is thinking and this is might be too rational for them to take this approach. Ha Ha Man, I really hope for a fresh, new Star Wars MMO but all these rumors can drive ya crazy for those of us that want this so badly. |

I always thought that a Old Republic timeline MMO would be great. All jedi's but they just focus on different roles. In the EU there was jedi's that focused on healing, Mace was one of the best lightsaber fighters, other jedi's focused more on the force. I forgot this Jedi maasters name but the one that looks like he has one of those facehuggers from Aliens on his face (Ki-adi-mundi I think), well he focused on learning the ways of the dark side. Which is why many jedi's stayed away from him. When you look at it, you basically got wizards, warriors, warlocks and healers with what I just mentioned. The basic focus of any MMO. Great thing about the Old Republic timeline is that you don't have any continuity that bogs you down, and you can reference Raven, and profetize about the Skywalkers. Oh and you have tons of jedi's and sith, cause it is before the Sith Civil Wars. So now you have factional PvP as well. EDIT: Some issues with SWG, even pre-CU was class distinction and continuity. (Like how hundreds of Jedi's happen to have escaped undetected by Vader) I remember the all TK groups, or even the TK soloing entire herds of Pikens. A Old Republic timeline based MMO would satisfy MMO needs, have the capability to reference SW fan needs and can even explore the whole Skywalker prophecy thing. They never mention how old that prophecy was. Imagine if it was thousands of years old. Makes the OT story even better. |

the only way a good star wars mmo will ever be made is if lucas arts gets off their butts and forms their own online games division and steal devs away from other companies. one of the main problems with swg was the fact that you had two different companies butting heads or simply not on the same page. one knowing online gaming but not the I.P. and the other knowing the I.P. but no idea how to handle a game or playerbase. |

Something funny here..... Everyone keeps saying NCSoft, when infact they don't develop the games, they publish them. I would say if a new SW mmo was to be developed I would list... 1. Cryptic Studios 2. Turbine 3. Blizzard 4. AreneNet as some good choices. They are all very good companies with very good track records of putting out good games. |

As long as $oe has nothing to do with it then I really don't care. However, if blizzard got hold of it and they did cartoony characters like in WoW then I'll just give up on SW MMO's forever. ---- |

I voted Microsoft simply because they have the money to throw at a game like this but NCsoft would also be a very close second. Now playing: Played: Looking Forward to: |

NCSoft or Bioware, either would probably do a fine job. |

Anyone but SOE and EA.
My picks would be in order. 1: NCsoft 2: CCP, Would make one hell of a sandbox with tons of skills like the SWG we all loved. 3: Would have been Mythic but now belongs to EA... sorry mythic 4: Blizzard, only b/c the game would work and would be finished polished product. 5: Bioware 6: Funcom 7: Areae, Inc : Who better to do it then Raph. Sorry i put him at 7th but i figured he might not want to touch another star wars MMO.

Originally posted by csthao I am sure this is wrong but I heard they did not do there own online game because they had no experiance makeing them and decided to get someone with xp to make it for them. I am sure that is wrong it is all hear say. Since I had never played a online game before I remeber one day chatting with a bunch of people in the med center and someone said that. If they want totaly control then it makes no sense why they do not make there own.
I do not want to vote for NCsoft because I do not want to jinx the good experiiances I habve had with them so far. I am also still not sure who all the players are in the MMO world. I think I would just be happy to have a skill tree system like in pre-cu and open ended game play. Also good customer support would be nice also and updates as bug free as possable. |

Put your feeling of WoW aside dont you think Blizzard shows the most talent to date, if you compare the smoothness of game play and player interaction.. all other MMO's that I have played EQ2,AO,VG and DAoC moving my WoW toon around the enviroment is x100 better, no invisible walls, warping, choppy animations the other games my character feels sluggish and slow to respond. |
