Its important to keep kids from these things... exposure to overly sexualized things have been shown to cause developmental problems in children on both emotional and psychological level... and not just Freudian ways.  They might not be causes unto themselves but it would be neglegent to allow a contributory cause to impact the impressionable unnecessarily.  Adults have to be responsible for children because most children aren't capable of doing so for themselves. 

That's the point of the rating system. The game will be rated M, Mature, meaning 17+.

Kids under that age should not be playing the game. Adults playing the game with young ones, should take responsibility and make sure they keep the material away from their children if they do not want them seeing it.

Ratings systems exist for a reason, but whiney parents take offense because they are almost being forced to take part in their children's lives.

Sure the rating system is exists, but it's not enforced by every parent.

Children aren't being targeted. It's a mature rated game. Whats the problem?

Most scholarly studies of demons and their historic representation is such that they have been intended to represent the darker aspect of man kind. But you're splitting hairs.

But back to the topic... "Why are some people afraid of boobs?"... one is the perception that this industry (gaming) is aimed predomenently at children, which it is to some extent. Second is the fact that with that perception any game with excessive violence or nudity are exploiting the natural curiosity of children for things  which they probably shouldn't be exposed to. That is the main concern.

I think that anything that keeps the kiddies away is a good thing.

Too bad I'm sick of the fantasy genre MMOs. I'll look for some other type of MMO to play for a while before returning to fantasy again.

That would make sense, but no game has been labeled as "too violent" since the ESRB been established. Now they just slap a big "M" or "AO" on it. In GTA, you could run up to a cop, beat him to death and take his gun and cash, buy a hooker, then when you're done shoot her in the head to get some cash back. But there wasn't an ounce of media publicity for ANY of that. Not until it actually SHOWED you doing it with a chick did anyone freak out. The game went from a fairly well known series within the gaming community to a national news extravaganza.

In God of War, there is a mini-game where you f*ck chicks and the harder you f*ck them you get life orbs. It doesn't show anything so nobody really took offense to it. If it's merely implied nobody really cares. If it's right there in front of your face people freak out. Stupid as hell.

  Still looking forward to giving the game a try though.  Um, the screenshot that I saw with boobs did have a black box censoring the nudity, are we sure that this censoring isnt an in-game mechanic? 

The censor was there from the AoC site because that site isnt Rated.In game its a topless Demon.

Nudity and Violence in the game is NOT a gimmick - Its been ever present for 75 yrs throughout the Lore.

Everything you see from the game so far is expected, I just wish there was more things they could add to be more truer - without any restrictions.

If that M rating keeps even one parent from letting their little kid play the game its a victory. A sad one, but still a victory. I don't want little kids playing  the game, and I am not talking teenagers, I am talking 13 and under for the most part. If it takes boobs to get the M rating or the attention to that Rating to make parents think twice, then we should only be able to make naked women characters.

And I know older people can be immature, I have seen that as well. But often there has been a time in game, when someone joins the group, they show up, bouncing around, not paying attenion, acting a fool, talking stupid in group chat. They join our teamspeak/ventrilo/whatever server and BLAM, well if isnt some little kid. I know its a kid, cause I hear them with the little mousy voice, and I ask how old are you? And I get an answer under 13. And usually, my Dad plays too, hes a level whatever, and hes on a raid doing whatever right now. Then I think to myself, great, even the runt's Dad won't play with him. Bastard.

And if boobs will help stem that problem, then I am all for it. And thats my rant. Not to mention, I am well adjusted to boobs in my life, and I used to consider myself a conoseur(sp?) of sorts. Then I got married, and though those boobs keep me happy, I had to swear off real access to all other boobs. So putting it in the game won't force me to play it, but it does add incentive.

And lastly, it truely has been a staple in the Sword and Sorcery genre since the beginning. And thats the model for this game, not Fantasy. There is a difference. And as I stated in my previous post, the American aversion to sexuality does find its roots in the Puritan movement that existed during the migration from Europe to America, and the early years of the colonies.

I didn't read everything so not sure if this was said, but

AoC target audiance is the mature crowd. Any parent that lets a child (anyone under 16 IMO) play this game is purely bad parenting. Don't blame the company. Rather they should blame themselfs for being crappy parents.

I plan to let my kids look and hear everything. Why? It's life. You can't deny the existance of sexuallity, language, violence, brutality, or any harsh things in this world. When it comes down to it. Second, your right. The whole 'we'll let our kids watch voilence, but NOT BOOBIES' thing is bullshit in this country. I'm glad to see AoC have nudity. But that basically guarantees it won't be sold in Walmart. (Ironically, you cant buy Mature rated games in Walmart, but you can buy the Conan DVD, which is full of sex, nudity, violence and gore.)

You can buy rated M games at Wal Mart its just that they make you flash an id lol which is good in a way but however dont go buying rap or metal cds at wal mart because they wont have the swears and you are better off listening to the radio
