Me and a group of friends decided to stop playing WoW because....well it got boring....so were looking for something a lot more in-depth. Basically i'm gonna describe the perfect MMO in my opinion. A great crafting system, something really complex would be good. Meaningful PvP. Like were talking huge epic battles for towns or something. I know there was something out there that let you create your own town and such but i doubt ill find that anywhere else. Not shitty grinding quests everywhere. maybe story lines that are cool to follow and such. Lots of class customization . More then just ranged dps melee dps tank and healer. some really crazy shit. Populated, theres nothing worse then a mmo with no one playing. Also the ability to really change shit thats going on in the world
Is there anything that even comes close? i doubt it, but the most importantly the better PvP and crafting system. All answers help. Thanks |

You should wait it out for WAR or AoC. Until then try a fun team based shooter like Battlefield. |

I'll go with my first thought when reading what you wanted from the game; "lost cause". Sorry.
You can find all features you want, but not in the same game, I'm afraid. You'll probably have to settle for which criteria are most important to you and go for the game that meets them the most. I don't know all games, but can try make a quick list for others to extend or correct. Great crafting system: depends what you define as "great", really. If you mean well-developed and detailed, I'd say Vanguard. Meaningful PvP: EVE and Lineage II, with AoC and WAR hopefully delivering on that point when they come out. Create your own town: AO and SWG, with AoC having it too. Not grinding quests: EVE Lots of customization: Most MMOGs, really. Highest number of classes and varied "hybrids"... Vanguard maybe. Populated: most MMOGs adjust their server numbers to fit the community size. I'd even say Vanguard qualifies after the merges. Ability to really change the world: EVE Now I almost want to start playing EVE. :) I'm sure I'm missing a lot, and simplifying a bit, but it's a start. |

I don't play it. But I believe you can do all of those things in eve online. I've tried to get into it so many times...but every time one of my friends sets me up we never end up playing together. If eve's concepts work then it's probably one of the best games out there. And by far the most ambitious. Its just soooooooo boring. but pretty. Pretty boring Hahaha |

Ultima Online would be my first choice b4... heheh, but not anymore. um.... if you have a group of friends, then Guild War seems fitting for you except the crafting part. maybe Final Fantasy? except no pvp...... just wait for age of conan to come out god damn it !!! :p or Darkfall but i highly doubt it heheh |

Personally i think quiting WoW was one of the best decisions of my life. That game was amazing at first then turns to crap in a hand basket right quick. The game sucks horribly after level 40. You get your horse then theres nothing to live for in that game besides grinding and showing people how much of a life you don't have by having 10 level 70's and the best mount and armor and wep in game and how you pick on newbs. 3 cheers for you for quiting. Probably the best explenation of my WoW experiance. Pre-CU SWG had a lot of what you want, the PvP wasn't really meaningful but it was really fun. I don't have a real answer for your question but WAR looks promising. Sent me an email if you want me to mail you some pizza rolls. |

FF11 fits most of the things you are looking for except the pvp is strictly for a fun 'minigame' and serves no actual purpose in the world.
The crafting system is somewhat slower than most other MMOs, and can cost some money to skillup but it is very well thought-out and very detailed. Even the day of the week you choose to craft on effects your performance. In fact almost all equipment you get in FF11 is player-crafted. Unless you're in Dynamis, generally the only things that drop, whether 'epic' quality or not, is ingrediants and materials to craft epic equipment. Crafting is a VERY important aspect or lots of people would be gimp. FF11 is nothing like WoW though and hardly shares any simularities except being a MMO. The party dynamics are greater, the way you level and get experience is different for the most part. Quests give you 0 exp points, but rather they give you reputation with that area. Also unless you get lucky during your partying you won't get rich. There isn't much drops off mobs that'll be worth vendoring or even selling in the ah (though there are exceptions). To get money you generally need to set time aside just to do that. You won't be getting exp, but you will focus on just getting money. There is many ways to go about doing this at that. There are mission based story-lines that go a long way. At level 1 you can get your first mission and it's an epic story-line that'll last all through your levels, and you can even start on another story-line mission quest chain for each expansion pack. The story is there and meaningful with nice fancy cutscenes. They also open up new zones for you to explore. You do not have access to the whole world from level 1, like you do in WoW. |

Too bad Planetside doesn't have a heavy population, that and pre-SWG come to mind.
My best recommendation would be EVE or Guild Wars until something comes out that tickles your pickle. I am currently being held over by the Battlefield series until WAR hits the shelves. For some reason blowing people up virtually does not lose my interest, no matter how much I do it. -------------------------------------------------- |

EVE is one of those games which is difficult to get into, difficult to get the hang of and difficult to break the surface on, but once you made it through all the mistakes, wrong advise and the "EVE is about mining" liars there's a gem of a game, all it needs is effort, lots of it.

I am also quitting WOW for some of the same reasons. I played WOW for about a year got 70 my character is in full gladiators but theres no depth ,no story line,no plot. WOW sucks its boring now the point of it is to reach the maximum level start long gear and rep grinds and stand around major citys waiting for something to happen. So i'm looking for a game now that is more in depth complex good PVP is a must ,but i'm not into futuristic games like eve . i just need a game where i'm in a strange world with strange new races that has lots of depth and a plot or story line would be good and great pvp that actually matters . so i guess i'm looking for a unrealistic game that hasn't been created yet because i haven't been able to find any game that has what i need in it but if someone has a suggestion for a game like that plz tell

Anarchy Online : the most complete skills character customization and itemization, among the best items are crafting related (really complex one), no grinding quest, really huge world, towns creation, last addon about pvp fight, good population... the game is so old and so complex that you'll not understand the depht of it without at least playing it for one year in an hardcore way.
it looks somewhat good with graphic's settings at max with anti aliase x4 (great art rendering for DX7 game). AO is not purely SF, i always looked at it as half SF/ half mystical fantasy. you can take a look at it with the F2p part. |

A wonderful game called "real life" but in all honesty.... none.
And ignore the "wait for aoc or war!" comments, never put your faith in future games, and wait for a game that may be decent or horrible. EQ2 on a pvp server possibly? *shrug*
