Six new images depicting some of the naval uniforms available to captains have been added to our Pirates of the Burning Sea screenshot gallery.

To view the full size images, and to see the rest of the new screens, visit our gallery here.

The images look nice but I wonder about movement. Will things still look good when stuff is moving around the screen. And will the ships bob up and down like they are actually in the ocean. And does the ocean always stay carm or is there rough weather. And......well you get the idea

One thing I just don't understand - why are early 18th century sailors wearing early 19th century uniforms?  It's not a question of pedantry (I'm not saying this because I'm obsessed with authenticity) - it's a question of style.  Early 18th century uniforms are simply more stylish than 19th century ones.  Anyone who thinks Napoleonic uniforms belong (or look good) in a pirate game must have a screw loose.

Its not just a pirate game, there are the Spanish, and English navy’s also.

What point is that? You do know that the styles of the English and French Uniforms that you see were around in the early to mid 1700s? Also, this is just a bit of what there is to offer. From what has been so far displayed, it is only a fraction of the spectrum.

Well my point is that the uniforms look lame in an historical pirate game.  The person who responded earlier seems to think my point was about navies not belonging in the Age of Piracy.  The point is, the Age of Piracy lasted until 1720 and when I see uniforms that couldn't possibly have been worn before 1790 it tells me that the developers don't care about details and when developers don't care about details we get games like Star Wars Galaxies.

Uniforms from the early 1700s are very stylish - why not have a mixture of them rather than going to the Napoleonic era?  The Napoleonic era has nothing whatsoever to do with the age of piracy - it's like populating a WW1 game with soldiers wearing modern battledress - it just looks lame and makes the game seem cheap.  I mean why bother if they can't get the clothing right?  What else have they missed?

I want a pirate game that immerses me in the age of piracy.  As soon as I see one of these Napoleonic clown uniforms that immersion will be lost.

Point taken. Hopefully the devs will give everyone a leg up in the next few weeks and open the beta up a bit.

Nothing wrong with historical accuracy in a game which is supposed to be based in 1600-1800 Caribbean era, the age of piracy. Now if we could only get rid of those unrealistic floating icons.

I am more concerned with the exposed bellybutton on the female then the time period of the uniform. I understand that a balance should be reached between accuracy and fun. And all the uniforms look VERY cool, but exposed bellybutton in a military uniform makes it looks like an Asian MMO.

That concern was actually raised by a number of posters on the main site.  The devs took it into consideration, had a team discussion, and decided to make a change.

The "bellybutton" costume piece will apparently remain in the game, but it will no longer be applied to female navy personel.

Oh, and I still say the other guy was simply being ridiculously critical about minor costume details (1720 vs. 1740), and not generally concerned about "historical accuracy".  The former, I don't get...the latter, I understand.

If you are referring to Beery, then I'd say he was correct to critisize, because the at 1720's a vast ,majority of hats were tricon hats, not cylindrical shape like on some of the the pictures.

You're saying it was reasonable for him to threaten to boycott the game because the hats are historically inaccurate by 20 years?

No wonder why MMO's become huge money sinks that devs can't control, and players can't enjoy.  "Gameplay be damned, the avatar's shoes are too big!".
