While I played it during beta, the more I played it, the more I thought of the mmorg I'd left, and between the cost of buying LotR and just paying the monthly fee for the other made me decide to retry the old game. After all, there is not a whole lot of uniqueness to this game, and I'd wager people that come to this game from others will find themselves thinking similar things. I agree that it's not a good sign that they are lowering the lifetime membership as it's about the same to get it as to pay for a full year of play. If a lot of people do this and wind up staying, they are going to be hurting after the first year. If they are saying they are cashing in as they don't think players will last even a year of play, such lack of faith in their own game speaks volumes.

This does seem kinda cheap of them to originally say you have to pre-order to get these benefits, then not long after launch they offer it to everyone. shrugs Does not affect me personally, I beta tested it for a while and thought game was just "OK". Course last few weeks of beta they couldn't fix that annoying bug where servers would always appear closed to me probably also affected my decision not to buy it.

For as many people that whine and complain about the founding status, how many I am sure whined and complained about not being able to get lifetime etc subs after release. Can't make everyone happy, and the forums on this website are one of the best examples on the internet.

I love the game but i will not do lifetime sub. Why? It costs like 2 years of play. Will i play LOTRO 2 years , no - i never played no mmo for 2 years no mather how good it is

The lifetime subscription is a bad deal which is why they are offering it. They know most people won't play their game that long and this is a gimmick to get some extra money.

CM is NOT Turbine, turbine does not control CM 2. The Founders offer has NOTHING to do with the CE of the game, simply the pre-order of it 3. WGaF, they really should rename these forums The whiners corner........
squalleonaha Apprentice Member Joined: 1/08/07 Posts: 19	6/10/07 4:07:58 PM#28 Report this post Explain why you are reporting this post: (750 characters max.) i was a big fan of LOTR but i saw no promise from this game. after tried beta. i thrown it away . in my opinion it's worse than some F2P like flyff or maple leaf. however someone was right we never play a game more than 2 year , even WOW was a big game when it out but after 1 year, people'll get tire of it. also by that time there tons of new and promise games out don't lock your self in some stupid game. it's just a way those people trying to rip off player. i hate that kind of company. i recommend u save your bucket for warhammer. it might look like WOW but the PVP will sure best.

The CE items themselves where quite poor compared to competition CE sets, thus the uniqueness of lifetime membership was a major driving force. For marketing to opt for such a move it means that LOTR sales are not going as good as projected and thus they feel the need to make as much cash as possible out of it before it all sinks. On the positive side the more lifetime members the more guarantee of finding someone to play with later on in the years when newer games would have erased memories of LotRO. LOTRO is or was the top 5 selling game.
