first I didnt play because when I browsed their site all I saw was pictures of spaceships and no personal avatar. only thing that ever held me back was the training times after I realized that their system makes it impossible for me to ever catch a vet since there is no ceiling on skills. finally i decided I'll give it a whirl. just seems like something keeps coming up in RL everytime tho. just found out i might nopt even have internet for a week or longer at home so might have to wait til this thing gets resolved

Is there an icelandic translation for fun? sure as hell doesnt seem it when playing eve... which is such a freaking pity cause when i hear my mate drunkenly describe it to an equally drunken me, it sounds out of this world fun, then i get downloading the bloody trial again and after a few days... ZZZzzzzzz.... i really really want to like this game, i want to take part in the fights to take down an enemy warship or hunt some fecker down for revenge and i know it takes time to get into...lots of bloody time, but until your good enough or make friends ingame, it needs something else other than mining or shooting pirates, it needs a good single player quest /mission based storylines with station walkabouts, planets to explore so that you can have fun up until your good enough to fly into low sec space and join in with the other older players in the pvp war for space.

I beta'd EVE...and man, the game was so much fun in beta...right up until they turned on PvP. Uncontrolled PvP is what keeps me from playing EVE. If it was 95% PvE, with a few SMALL areas to PvP in (moderatly higher rewards, whatever), and the rest had lots of NPC combat with decent AI, then I'd be playing right now.
You can add all the fluff of avitars and planets you want, but the PvP is the main problem for me.
Not a fan of the skill system either....I dont gain skill from shooting a weapon only reading about shooting a weapon....makes sense? |

The option to pay upfront almost a month's worth of skills with my $15. There are good arguements of how this can destroy the essence of Eve, but that wasn't what the question was about. |

Tried it for a week, and left because I missed the group gatherings of avatars you get in other mmo games (markets and parks)

The PVP system and the death penalty, make it less harsh and I would consider coming back. I know that won't sit well with the current crowd so just open a PVE server and let those that enjoy the current system have their fun on Tranquility and the rest of us have our fun away from it on the new server. Oh and get the CCP employees that play the game under control and out of the player organizations, stop the insider gaming and level the playing field. |
